MLB Players' Poll: White Sox second worst org after A's
T R U replied to Quin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Well we used Lopez as a reliever from 2021 onwards (and he was damn good) and now is a starter in Atlanta. Im not sure how that correlates to the discussion, but at least says we probably weren't using him right. Diekman was terrible for us in 2022, and even worse in 2023. This was 30 innings, but over a what 3 month stint here? That's a decent sampling of awfulness. -

All those hitters were either washed, one year wonders, or never were anything to begin with. The pitchers though, that's pretty alarming. Every single one of them, better with someone else than they were with the 23 Sox. -
White Sox "actively seeking" packages for Robert

I would imagine him being traded, doesn't make a whole lot of sense to do that within the next month. -

I mean, were not talking about a guy that had a 4.00 ERA here then went to Tampa and it was 2.50. This guy had a 7.94 ERA for us, gets DFA'd, and then less than 2 weeks later is like a completely different player. -

Yep, its not so much "This player stunk with us but magically became good with them". Other organizations have the tools / personnel to find out how to use said player to their strengths or how to get the best out of them. The Diekman example is a perfect case of it. -

It depends, if you want to say hes always injured sure thats a discussion point. He put up 3.6 bWAR in 2021 in 68 games. I don't think that has anything to do with him not delivering on his potential. -

Moncada was a #1 overall prospect who was acquired by trading one of the best pitchers this organization has ever had. Hes been here 9 years and has delivered exactly 2 seasons worth a s%*#, everything else he might as well be Nicky Lopez. He is 100% going to have his option declined at the end of the year. Its pretty laughable to see a "They're pretty much the same guy" take. The only thing they have in common is they constantly get injured, Robert has been a difference maker every time he is on the field. The same cannot be said about Moncada. -

Yeah that definitely seems like it happens 90% of the time. I don't get the turnover comment, this is one of the places where you practically stay forever regardless of results. -

What turnover though? With players? Because its certainly not with leadership and front office people. -
Yeah that’s a terrible game plan.

Was coming to say this, thanks for taking care of it for me.

White Sox "actively seeking" packages for Robert
T R U replied to southsider2k5's topic in Trade Winds 2024
Keeping Robert for 3 more seasons while this team is losing 90-100 games is just about the dumbest thing they could do. The return of assets in a Robert trade could set this team up for a nice run of sustained success, and if they fail we’re in the same spot we would have been anyways. -

The idea of keeping Crochet and Robert makes way more sense if this was a 72-90 type season. This is not just a bad roster having a bad season, this is a historically bad roster on pace to have the worst season in baseball history. This is not something that can be fixed by next season, and probably not the season after. And by that time you’ll be about to lose those two anyways. -

I would trade Robert to the Cubs, gimme Cade Horton and some of those bats and I would love it. -
I don't personally care how old or close the prospects are when they trade these two guys, I only care about getting the best return. If they are all 18-19, so be it. If they are 21-22, also fine. I just want a maximized return. They don't all have to come up at the exact same time, its ok to build it in waves.

The last decade has been brutal, that's what happens when you tear it down to the studs to rebuild and the rebuild fails miserably. There were multiple problems that contributed to the failure. 1. The front office that built this team to get to a point where it needed to be completely rebuilt was allowed to stay and lead the rebuild. Ridiculous. 2. When the team showed it was taking steps forward in 2020, the owner hired his out of touch 80 year old buddy to lead this team instead of a qualified manager. 3. Its a marathon, not a sprint, and the White Sox went 100 MPH out of the gate and then fell over and died halfway through. They acquired premier talent on the front end but drafted poorly and never had anything ready to come up after the initial wave. 4. They never spent money like they alluded to. As a fan, hearing Rick Hahn talk about "the money will be spent" to me meant they would make meaningful signings to support a young core. This never happened, as they struck out on all big time signings they claimed to have pursued. They'll eventually be good again, or competitive. From 1996 - 2012 they averaged 84 wins a year, this is pretty much what I think of when I remember the good old days. 80-85 wins and at least passable to watch. -

You can make the argument this team will need new starters at C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, CF, and RF next year along with 3-4 SP and an entire new bullpen. -

You need to be careful or you’re going to summon nardiwashere to tell you how ridiculous it is you don’t think the Sox can just sign a bunch of free agents and call up 5 guys and be a .500 team real soon. -

Pedro is just doing what hes told from upstairs. There is no other reason why he still has a job with how much of a disaster this season has been. -

Eesh, not hopeful that streak ends tonight based off that offering. -
Multiple people, myself included, have already said 2027 is realistic for getting back to .500 every team should be able to acquire players like that, the White Sox choose not to pay for those players. No Fedde doesn’t count. No Mike Clevinger doesn’t count. The attempt at signing Wheeler is the closest they’ve been signing one of those type of pitchers.

lol ok that makes more sense. I’m on my phone, so not easy to respond in full detail as I’d like to.
