Just so you guys know if you don't, the Bears drafted Harvey Unga in the supplemental draft this afternoon..

Whats with the spoiler tags? Aren't we all smarks here, im pretty sure all of us know whats going on or will be going on anyways.. I don't think there is anyone that's going to come in here and cry YOU RUINED SMACKDOWN FOR ME!!!!
-
lol at him needing to be "stretched out" He pitched what, 4 innings as a reliever after being a starter ALL SEASON for his college team this year?
-
I never said the Bulls weren't good.. I said they aren't good enough to go toe to toe with ANY team in the league..
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 09:25 PM) You know what? **** Miami. We have a team that I think can still go toe-to-toe with any in the NBA. I don't know whether I should laugh at you, or feel bad for you for saying that.. I dunno, but the Bulls aint that good..

Man I wish I was a pro athlete.. ide do drugs and get arrested all the time

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 02:04 AM) Do you know what his objection to playing here is? Nope.. no one down here will even acknowledge that trading Oswalt is even an option
-
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 12:23 AM) I could have swore I read somewhere the other day that Oswalt would deny trades to the White Sox or Tigers. Yeah, it says they would try to convince him.. Pretty sure Peavy didnt wanna come here at first either but that happened as well.. if we trade with Houston I want Berkman and Oswalt.. but I dont think Oswalt would change his stance on playing here..

QUOTE (gatnom @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 02:05 PM) The problem is that Hudson, Flowers, and Viciedo are kind of B level prospects. They might end up being very very good players, but I don't think anybody views them as top tier prospects. Then there's the whole issue where he wants his option to be picked up in order for him to waive his no trade clause. I just don't see a match here unless both Berkman and the Astros lower their expectations. It doesn't matter if they are top tier prospects, they are young MLB ready prospects though.. and that still holds a lot of value..
-
If the goal is a central title and a World Series run then I give Dan Hudson a few starts, see what we've got, and in a few weeks if Berkman and Oswalt are still on a terrible Astros team I offer up Hudson, Flowers, Morel, and another non Dayan prospect and see how much cash the Astros will eat for both of them.. I think they are both FA after next season, so the money from boosted attendance and a playoff run might be able to absorb both contracts with some cash and you can let them walk in another year if need be.. If anything, ide look into that.. but, I think with Oswalt in the rotation and Berkman in the lineup we could make a very serious run at the World Series.. Of course, if Hudson is kickin ass then ide rather we just add a bat and roll with it.. EDIT: Well I just saw the Oswalt wouldn't play for us thing, so nevermind this..

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 11:12 AM) That does sound racist. You wouldn't take Dirk on your team? That doesn't count, hes not really white this is a torii hunter joke btw before anyone gets there underwear bunched

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 01:55 PM) because the NBA and wrestling have an awful lot in common. Billion dollar companies with enormous fan bases across the world?

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 01:48 PM) And I can respect that in a sense. But "King" and "Chosen One" and "the Gift" and whatever dumbass name that he never really earned anyway, nobody wants to hear it anymore. James didn't have control over the pieces that they brought in around him.. Sure, he has his input but im pretty sure he wanted Amare last season and the Cavs didn't want to give up Hickson so they went with Jamison.. They never gave him to second impact player he needed, and after 7 years he decided that he needed to move on to win a Championship.. Its all about winning for him, and when he does something about and goes somewhere that can make it happen hes bashed for it.. come on QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 01:51 PM) I find it AMAZING that LeBron managed to win 66 and 61 games the last two years in Cleveland even with "no help" as so many people like to put it. Well, if the LeBron nut lickers who say that are right, the Heat should have a win total in the low to mid 70's every year he's there, and they should win the NBA Championship every year. Good luck with that! Correct me if im wrong, but im pretty sure that Kobe has not come close to having as successful seasons as LeBron has had without Shaq and Gasol on his team.. I don't recall the just Kobe Lakers being anything special, at all..

QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 01:22 PM) It was LeBron's idea to teabag Cleveland on national TV. LBJ better hire some protection for his games in Cleveland next year. It wasnt.. the only thing LeBron did wrong was not notify the Cavs that he had decided to play elsewhere.. ESPN was responsible for that whole hour long episode, all LeBron did was ask for a press conference..

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 09:09 AM) good to hear that the franchise is back on track As soon as the movie started and it was the same type of music from the original Predator I was so pumped up..

the Heat are my new favorite team, and im gonna go ahead and say what everyone else is thinking.. 82-0

QUOTE (Real @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 10:26 PM) Joe Mauer, Month by Month March & April : .345/.406/.500 (.906 OPS) May: .293/.384/.400 (.784 OPS) June: .271/.349/.396 (.745 OPS) July: .250/.300/.429 (.729 OPS) See a trend? My speculation: His Back Injury is baaaaaaaaaack I traded Mauer for Felix Hernandez and Russel Martin in the Soxtalk Keeper league.. it was offered to me, easiest accept I ever had

QUOTE (aprec32 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:37 PM) Their ultimate success will depend on who will sign with this team. If they only fill it with scrubs then there is a bit of uncertainty of what this team can do. Also, if we are all assuming that LeBron is as big an egomaniac that we believe he is, the press is going to push the issue of him as a villan (think Kobe the last 5 years). Questions about him being number 2, not being like Bird, Magic, MJ....hell even Kobe might get to him. LeBron doesn't care about that, im pretty sure of it.. I dont think it being "Wades Town" will have any bother on him at all.. I think he really just wants to win Championships.. If that wasnt the case, he could have taken more money from Cleveland, Chicago, New York.. there were plenty of options for him to take that would have either been more money or allowed him to build his own "legacy" or whatever you wanna call it..

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:31 PM) How hard is it to say "No"? Why did he have to say no though? All he did was answer some questions, say where he decided to play, and then answered some more questions.. It wasnt 58 minutes of LeBron hype followed by a closing of where he signed.. The "special" wasnt what I expected.. it was basically the ESPN people talking it up, then it was LeBron and some guy for a few minutes and he pretty much came right out and said where he signed.. and then it was ESPN again.. Honestly, I really thought it was gonna be an hour long show where he didnt say until the last few minutes.. but to me it just seemed like it was ESPN who pushed for this the most.. not LeBron like I had originally thought
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:28 PM) It's how he signed. He basically flipped off Cleveland by doing that special. I was thinking about that while I was listening in the car and I think I have come to the conclusion that it is ESPN that made it the big deal it was.. All I heard was that LeBron had asked for a press conference, and I am sure that ESPN was the ones behind making it some hour long special.. I seriously doubt that LeBron requested to have the special, seeing as he just answered like 5 questions before saying he chose Miami.. it would have gone on longer if he was the one trying to make this some hour long event..

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:27 PM) I'm also going to say one more time, that this Heat team has absolutely 0 shot at winning 70 games. None. I would bet you that they do in fact win 70 or more

Man I am gettin tired of seeing people bash him for not "sticking" it out in Cleveland.. Gimme a break, he was there for seven years and they never put anything around him to get that team a ring.. I don't feel bad for them one bit.. Its absurd to sit here and say he should have stayed in Cleveland and tried to win championships there when he has no control over the roster and how their money is spent.. and secondly, if he would have signed with the Bulls no one would be saying anything about him right now.. but because he signed with Wade and Bosh hes some villain.. I don't get it.. and just to toss this out there, but the contract details aren't even done yet and LeBron himself has already said all three of them are going to be taking less money to make this thing work.. if all of them are only making 15 million next season that's still going to give them what, like 13 million to play with and fortify the roster? That team is gonna be fine, and I already expect them to win the title next year..
-
Meh, I don't see how LeBron is piggy backing.. Hes still the best player on the Heat, whats wrong with a guy wanting to win championships and signing with the team that has the looks of the best shot at that? Dude just wants to win some rings, I can respect that
