  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2010 -> 01:39 PM) Hell, at this point why not? If he's got a tired arm, let him work it out if he thinks he's good to go. for as much s*** as hes taken in this thread.. one more inning and he could have given us a quality start, on the road, against Tampa.. Ill take that
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 30, 2010 -> 01:36 PM) AND THAT IS WHY PEOPLE WERE COMPLAINING ABOUT NIX SITTING ON THE BENCH WHILE OMAR WAS GETTING MORE PLAYING TIME! Joking? Nix is still hitting .172, to be honest I don't really care for either of them..
  3. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ May 30, 2010 -> 01:19 PM) I wonder how DJ Carrasco is doing these days. 29 IP 3.94 ERA for Pitt
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 30, 2010 -> 12:31 PM) Geez, get out of here with your batting averages and RBIs, will ya? lol
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 30, 2010 -> 12:25 PM) Why not? If Justin Morneau wasn't hitting out of his mind, Rios would be the leader in WAR in the AL at 2.6. geez get out of here with that WAR crap aside from Morneau I could prolly name 4-5 more people having better seasons than Rios and deserve way more consideration for MVP
  6. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 30, 2010 -> 12:21 PM) You really have to consider giving Rios some early MVP votes right now. why?
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ May 29, 2010 -> 01:15 AM) It depend how healthy you eat and your healthy your lifestyle is. The time I tried it, I ended up spending my plasma money on food because your body gets so hungry after you're done due to lost blood plasma. i donated plasma for a full year once.. i was in college and had no money it takes about an hour and they stick a pretty wicked needle into your arm but its not too bad and yeah, you can make some decent money for just sitting in a chair for an hour.. the best part was immediately after we got done we would take the filter out of a cigarette and power smoke it, you could barely stand up after that..
  8. QUOTE (TitoMB @ May 27, 2010 -> 06:11 PM) As far as I'm concerned, neither was a balk. Didn't really look like it, but two in consecutive innings? come on now
  9. there had to be something personal involved in this, there's no way Buehrle balks in two consecutive innings..
  10. QUOTE (vandy125 @ May 27, 2010 -> 01:00 PM) Would you say that the system that teams set up to run is partially dictated by the type of home field they have? sure, but that doesn't have anything to do with the relationship of weather to player.. a power running game is a power running game, the Dolphins and Jets both had top 5 running attacks last season.. how? very good offensive lines and good backs.. the conditions of their homes? complete opposites..
  11. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ May 27, 2010 -> 06:34 AM) I dont see why its ok for the conference championship games to be in cold weather environment but not the Superbowl, so its ok for the 2nd most important games of the season to be in blizzards but not the most important As its already been said, those games are played on the teams home field who earned it.. they aren't neutral sites so I don't really see how you can compare the two.. If you are going to put it in cold weather sites, why not just scrap the neutral stadium stuff and just have the best team host it.. then it will at least be in cold and warm places depending on who is there..
  12. QUOTE (hogan873 @ May 27, 2010 -> 06:29 AM) It can rain during the Super Bowl, too. And it has a few times. Yeah it can, but the likelihood of terrible weather in the current cities vs the conditions in New York at 6-7 PM in January-February is a pretty big difference..
  13. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 26, 2010 -> 11:41 PM) As someone already said, would you have stuck with Shingo as the closer in 2005? I think it was said that he was 8-9 in save opportunities and had a better ERA than Jenks does now. There is a little bit of a difference between Shingo being the closer for not even a full year and the body of work Jenks has done as our closer over the last 5 years.. And again, I don't see why there is some urgency to remove him when he isn't blowing saves yet.. im fully aware that Jenks has been bad this season so far, but he hasn't been costing us games on a regular basis.. These are his save situations.. Including his lone blown save which was 0 IP and 4 R 7 IP - 10 H - 4 R - 3 BB - 8 K This is everything else.. 10 IP - 14 H - 9 R - 9 BB - 13 K Like I said, stop using him in non save situations..

    Pods

QUOTE (BearSox @ May 26, 2010 -> 09:37 PM) It's asinine to say that Pods hasn't been the better player this year. I didn't say that, I was disagreeing that Pods has blown Pierre out of the water..
  15. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 26, 2010 -> 11:44 PM) And Ive been to 2 of the coldest games in Soldier Field history, stayed for every minute. It was great. Ive been to cold sporting events too, and I enjoy them as well.. however, for competitive purposes and getting the best game possible for the biggest game of the season I don't see why they wouldn't aim for having the best possible conditions.. a couple years ago in a total downpour the Dolphins played the Steelers in a Monday Night "Shootout" that ended 3-0.. it was the most boring game I have ever watched in my life.. i couldn't imagine having to watch a Super Bowl like that
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 26, 2010 -> 09:42 PM) If teams don't give consideration to players that fit the type of place where they play, they are stupid. Teams don't give considerations for that.. I don't think Mark Sanchez played a single cold weather game in his college career, does that mean the Jets should have said no thanks to acquiring him because they would have some cold games later in the year? Of course not.. Teams are built with players they feel will work in whatever system they are trying to run, I have never once heard of a team passing on someone because they don't feel they fit in the weather of the city..
  17. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 26, 2010 -> 08:38 PM) It’s not a closers job to not suck just enough to not completely blow a ball game. It’s his job to come in and lock down the game. the closers job is to come in and get the save, which Jenks has done except one time so far.. and I know Jenks has sucked, but as long as he keeps saving the game even if its close to being blown, its whatever.. when he starts blowing saves on a regular basis im all for getting him out of the role..
  18. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 26, 2010 -> 08:50 PM) How about a home game where it's tied going to the top of the 9th? That's typically where you go to your closer. Depending on who was left in the bullpen, ide prolly opt for whoever out of Santos, Thornton, or Putz that was left.. of course, there's no way to know who is available..
  19. How about just not throwing him in non save situations? I think he needs to stay at closer for now, hes 7 of 8 in saves and unless he starts LOSING us games I dont have a problem with bend but don't break.. even if its bent to hell..
  20. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 26, 2010 -> 04:24 PM) I haven't played it in a few days on multiplayer, but I was getting it over the weekend. Haven't had xbox install any updates either. That's because it wasn't an install update.. I had the same issues the very first time I played online, I was also constantly booted from sessions.. the next day I read it had been patched, and ever since that I have not had any issues at all with it.. That's weird that you are..
  21. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ May 26, 2010 -> 08:42 PM) Its not fair if dome teams cant play in a dome, because they built their team with that expectation. ---BUT--- It is fair to make outdoor/northern teams play in a dome, even though they build their teams to cope with the elements. Is that what you're trying to say? You say "best playing conditions" like it means the same thing for every team. Optimal conditions are relative, the Green Bay Packers would much rather play with the New Orleans Saints in a snowstorm than in a dome. lol im sorry but no team builds their teams for weather conditions.. it takes the same kind of players to have a dominant running game in the north as it does in the south.. I will give you that having a wide open offense on a turf IS something you can definitely build your team around.. but not weather conditions.. teams in Florida don't look at a FA and say, well hes a very good running back but its prolly too hot for him to play here.. Your example pretty much sums up why it isn't fair.. why should a team like Green Bay get to play a super bowl in a snowstorm or freezing weather against a team who almost never has to play in those conditions? It is much more balanced for them to be in the "optimal" conditions, even if it is a dome, than that.. And its not like going to a dome is going to all of the sudden make them slower on turf.. the difference between Green Bay in a dome and New Orleans in a snow storm is huge..
