So were all over here having a meltdown on the Dolphins message board I post on and one of the posters made an excellent comment about the Dolphins GM that I think fits absolutely perfect with the White Sox situation. "It's hard to blame Grier for one reason. He didn't force himself into this position. Someone hired him and someone refuses to acknowledge Grier has some serious liabilities. You can't fault Grier for taking a high level job if someone's going to give it to him. The problem is above Grier's paygrade."

Chasing Records — 121 losses, modern MLB record
T R U replied to Paulie4Pres's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That makes a ton of sense though in a sport where if you lose between 60-70 games a year you are probably managing for a very long time while losing 90+ games a year gets you fired fairly quickly. -
Reinsdorf releases statement to say he'll speak more later

They are unbelievably dumb, I think that's been well proven at this point. -

You know Getz was in the interview telling JR about how KW and Hahn really screwed this roster up and with better defense the current roster would be much better than 2023 and he probably just ate all that s%*# up. You're absolutely right though. The moves they made, the things they said, there is no way that they went into this season thinking they would even lose 100 games if I had to put money on it. Teams that know they're cooked don't trade a pitching prospect for a 26 year old low ceiling outfielder. Those are the moves that teams like the 2021 White Sox should have been doing when RF was a glaring hole on a "championship" roster. -

The Angels are 27 games better than the Sox and have almost won just as many games in their past 10 than the White Sox have won since what, July? This is a AAA team, if they lost every game to close the season I wouldn’t be surprised even though that’s unlikely. -
Not just lost, shut out again.

Will the Sox prioritize Moncada over youngsters?

Eloy is the biggest bust and I don't think its very close. Im not going to knock Kopech for not turning into an ace, starting pitching is so volatile. Eloy on the other hand was an absolute monster in the minors, gave us a taste of what he could be in his debut, and then became the most worthless disappointing player ever after that. -
Best guess is they aren't his decisions. This has looked no different than the Pedro lead team. Since they already made it clear he is not going to be the manager here, seems pretty obvious the call on who to play is coming from the front office. It probably was the same deal when Pedro was here as well.

Could we Match (or beat) Phillies from 1938 - 1942?
T R U replied to Texsox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I tend to agree with this, especially after seeing the player profile Getz has been acquiring. They have a very long way to go to get out of 100 loss seasons, the absolute best case scenario for that is 2026 but as you said, a lot needs to break right. -

They will lose 100+ next year for sure. 2026 is probably the earliest we will see them get out of 100 loss territory and even then it depends on if they spend any money to get actual MLB players on the roster or they just hope and pray every prospect develops. -
So you're saying we did in fact make a good trade???

Fletcher's August slash line of .275 / .306 / .624 is at least mildly encouraging but he better be one of the best defenders in baseball if that's what were going to be getting from our RFer offensively. And as its already been pointed out, seems like he has been putting up some very unsustainable defense metrics over the course of a season. When we trade Robert, if they slide Fletcher over to the everyday CF role and he can OPS .650 while playing great defense its at least usable.

Buddy I’m a Dolphins fan, f*** them Bears.
-
Football is back, who gives a f*** about these losers anymore.
-
Yeah I’ve pretty much given up thinking other players would be good here. Seems like anyone who puts this jersey on immediately loses all their talents.
-
Typically yes, for pitchers that have built up to it over a few seasons. There’s no telling how Crochet responds next season, this was a really unique situation.
-
What’s not to understand? He’s never thrown innings like this, not even close. It’s about managing your multi million dollar asset. There’s no reason to risk any further injury in a season that is over.
-
It won’t, the concern is how his body responds to throwing this many innings with no build up.
-
Crochet has been terrible since August. Either the Sox really are the most incompetent franchise in baseball botching his management, or possibly worse letting Crochet dictate how he’s used. Can we shut this guy down already?
-
I can’t believe these guys are still playing Sheets and Lopez everyday lol
-
The pitching is largely in the same spot as it was prior to Bannister getting here, organizationally. Unless im completely blanking on someone.
-
The pitching sucks. Even with Crochet, only the Rockies have given up more runs than the White Sox this season. I don't understand why everyone thinks Bannister walks on water around here.
-
Well never be a Cleveland type operation because Cleveland, while not spending a ton of money and being cheap, invests in their scouting and development and make smart hires. The White Sox wont do this, and the money they do spend is spent on the mid tier of free agency for players that aren't moving the championship needle. Its been said to death, but we just need new ownership. Once that happens, ill immediately feel better about the state of the team.
-
Hey, they finally fired a bunch of dudes who should have been fired after last seasons debacle. Victory lap time.
-
Seriously, how can anyone say they feel a lot better about the state of the team now. There is a very real chance that they are even worse next season. They will almost certainly trade Crochet and Robert and the roster will be made up of developing prospects and washed up veterans they will attempt to flip. There is so much that needs to be done before its even realistic to feel better about this team. Everyone should be scared to death about what we are going to see next season.
