  1. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 03:14 AM) Phil Rogers reported that the Sox were working on the Soriano for Pods and prospects deal. Who would the prospects be? Probably Lance Broadway and maybe a Wes Whisler? The 1 thing I am a little worried about Soriano is actually how he will hit at the Cell. He had terrible home / away splits last season for Texas, but now he's hitting at a pitchers park and has massively improved. How will leaving that for a hitters park affect his swing possibly? Would he try for more power in exchange for a few more K's perhaps? Or he could try LESS power since it would be easier to hit HR's resulting in a few more points on the batting average.. Also, if we can get this deal done for Pods and 2 prospects none of which are named BMac.. I will be very pleased!
  2. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 11:15 PM) I'll agree, but Lumsden will probably pitch for KC on technicality: they have no pitching. Lumsden is going to be in AAA next year and as a talented pitcher he'd really have to fall on his face in AAA to not even get a shot in the bigs with the Royals. That said I'm still a fan of the deal despite thinking that the Sox overpaid value wise. Youre right, with Kansas Citys lack of pitching it will be hard for Lumsden to not have a shot with them.. However I believe that being on a poor team can have a negative effect on a young pitcher such as Lumsden.. I just dont get how so many people are pinning Lumsden as the next great thing. Like 1986 said, time will tell. However ill take the guy who can pitch in the majors right now as opposed to someone who prolly wouldnt have gotten a shot with us for at least 2 seasons.
  3. How does KC automatically get the better end of this deal? No matter what McDougal does in a Sox uniform theres no way to know who got the better end of this deal right now.. All I can say right now is this.. McDougal is guaranteed to have an effect on our Major League Club, whether it be good or bad.. Lumsden does not have that same guarantee for Kansas City
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 09:54 PM) That would be moving BMAC into the rotation. It has to be. McD just took his spot. Actually he took Tracy's bullpen spot which doesnt exactly mean BMac is moving to the rotation
  5. We have to get Soriano.. Since the all star break weve scored 5,3,4,7,2,1,3,1,5,4 Im tired of hearing about our offense being so great theres no need to do anything. We are basically struggling all around right now adding a bat like Sorianos would be a huge addition to this lineup. Wed have another base stealer (Since Pods has decided to suck at it lately) while adding another HR threat in the process. I really dont care if it costs Bmac its obvious he isnt going to see the rotation this year, im with Kenny. I want to win now, and I am HOPING that we can land Soriano. The best case scenario IMO is they accept a package of Fields, Broadway, and another good spect leaving BMac out of this deal. Honestly who else can offer a young MLB ready SP? Zumaya is only one that comes to mind for me that would be the same level as BMac and I doubt the Tigers are going to move him. We give them 3 real good prospects and I think we might be able to get it done without BMac involved.
  6. I think so have I ever seen him pitch? No. I follow the future sox board a lot and from everything ive seen and read about him I really never figured how he could be a 2/3 starter. Furthermore, hell be ready in what.. 2 or 3 seasons? Well have other similair prospects from now till then anyways.. I think it was a good move to add a piece to our club right now, which we needed.
  7. QUOTE(Drew @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 04:17 PM) The Angels guys on ESPN radio out here are already crying in their beer. I'd like to see a Soriano package bring us Figgins and Shields. That would be epic. But not likely after this MacDougal deal. If that happened the deal would ultimately look like this Soriano, BMac, and prolly 2 solid spects for Figgins and Shields Of course, im just guessing what we would give up for Soriano but I would be pretty upset if we give the goods to get Soriano and then flip him for just that
  8. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 01:24 PM) "His comments seem to suggest..." Is that that hard to comprehend? And then you categorically dismiss my SUGGESTION by demonstrating that you don't know for sure either. I wasnt directing that at you your post was just the one I happened to be reading at the time when I decided to respond to the thread and no one knows for sure either except the White Sox organization.. so mine and your opinions on the matter dont really mean anything but speculation
  9. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 12:32 PM) His comments seem to suggest that this is the first time he's heard of it, dontcha think? Who is going to come out and say "Yeah im lazy, I prolly deserved to be released." And even so, there were more factors than just that involved with this decision
  10. Thank GOD this was finally done.. Widger will get no sympathy from me.. he was bad last year and even worse this year, and was easily a major weakness on this team wasting a roster spot. Ill gladly welcome Sandy Alomar back, but hopefully we arent done improving this team
  11. QUOTE(chisoxdavid @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 08:48 PM) Link Sorry if already posted. Even at his age I feel that its an upgrade on Widger. Sweet! I love breaking news!!
  12. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 05:16 PM) I'm surprised by the Garland love Love Garland so much
  13. Does it really matter? Either way you are gonna be dead, might as well go out with a bang
  14. QUOTE(loltrain @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 02:56 PM) Two notes: 1. This makes the Reds trade look even crappier 2. The AL Central no longer has a monopoly on fat closers I still dont think that Reds trade was all that bad, Clayton is actually playing pretty good and they got two solid young bullpen arms.. but yeah, they could have gotten more Haha, I did find your number two hilarious though
  15. Jon Garland will always be my favorite pitcher.. Others that I really like.. Roy Oswalt, Carlos Zambrano, Scott Kazmir, and AJ Burnett
  16. QUOTE(MichiganBorn @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 07:56 AM) Actually I forgot about the Packers. I went to college in the Upper Pennisula of Michigan and man there were alot of Wisconsin people who lived and died with the Packers. So I should add them to the list. I enjoyed watching them flounder last year and I hope it happens again. And I was rooting for the White Sox last year because it was alot of fun to watch and I follow the idea that you have a favorite team, but if your team isn't in the playoffs you root for a team from the same division/conference. The only time I break that is when Ohio State is in a bowl game. Avalanche > Red Wings hate the red wings so much, love the Avs
  17. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 09:59 PM) Adversity? The Sox: Could possibly win the division Will probably win the WC Match up pretty well against all the potential AL playoff teams Still have not been even close to hitting on all cylinders Have almost half a season left to play Theres too much baseball to be played for so many people here to call for the end of the world.. Sure, were playing bad.. but it wont keep up the entire second half. Eventually were gonna get our spiff together and look more and more like the team we really are than this team that is out there struggling right now. I still think the pitching overall will improve, and the hitting really shouldnt be a question. They are gonna produce.
  18. Widger is just about the only reserve that doesnt do a damn thing for this team.. other than that I really dont have a problem seeing Mack or Ozuna out there.. hell even freaking Gload has been solid
  19. Atlanta sure as spiff needed some bullpen help.. fish
  20. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 04:11 PM) Guess who's gonna show up on some sox fan girl's doorstep.
  21. We gotta hope they pull a White Sox here and score no runs with bases loaded no outs
  22. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 12:57 PM) Not only that he is the only one who has actually hit .300+ in a season not named Konerko. (even though Pauly hasn't done it in like 3 years) IMO, Crede can do it since this will be a career year for him this season, and we are really seeing him start to blossom. AJ is going to his gap hitting roots like he did with Minnesota. And it's not like he's doing it as an advantage. AJ is hitting .300+ at home and away, something Pauly never does/did (Kong always hit better on the road) This will be an interesting discussion no doubt. Jermaine Dye hit .321 in 2000
