QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 26, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) Bulls***, their fate always rest with Randy Moss, look what happened to them last year when he got hurt. Now hes gone, nothing will help them in their below average running game now. UH oh Bye bye um..... even with Moss hurt, Culpepper still had the best year of his career... not only that, Nate Burelson stepped in and had a 1,000 yard season... Now that same team has Troy Williamson, a very good pass rusher... A pro bowl safety, a very good young corner.. They have added so much to their defense and the only thing they lose is Moss who has been replaced now with another deep threat.. Minnesota isnt going anywhere but to the top of the NFC North.. They had the 18th ranked rushing attack... ide assume it was 18th due to their #2 ranked passing attack Its pointless to worry about having a stellar running game when your #2 in the league in passing, even so, 18 is not that bad.. -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 26, 2005 -> 08:46 AM) Because I don't want to read thru this thread, where was Bradley projected to go before the draft? I've heard various reports saying he was a reach and he was a good pick at that spot. Angelo would have wanted to trade down, and he still probably would have gotten Benson (unless the Cards decide to take him at 8), but because this draft was so even from 5 to 25ish and even later, the offers just weren't good enough. Oh and 2 words. Chris Canty. This guy is easily going to be the steal of the draft if he stays healthy. Book it. I believe he was projected a 3/4th round pick Thats what I heard at least once, not positive though

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 11:43 PM) I absolutely love Miami's draft. Matt Roth in the 2nd is a great pick. Ronnie Brown is a stud and Channing Crowder is very nice as well. Nick Saban seemed to have a plan and stuck with it. Travis Daniels can be very good and Saban knows him well. They addressed team needs very well. You damn right... Miami had their best draft in YEARS and its all because pornstache is gone!!! Ronnie Brown is going to be a very good NFL back... He has size (6' 233) and is a very unselfish player.. He can catch, he has speed (4.43) and he can run people over between the tackles.. I cant wait to see #23 suited up for my Phins next season!! I love the Matt Roth pick.. especially after reading all the articles about him.. They had to sit him out in practice on occasions because they said he only knows one motor, and that is to go all out at all times.. One time at practice him and Robert Gallery got into a fight and he ripped his face mask off of his helmet!! They also say, not sure if its true or not, he challenged and cleared a bar in a fight.. With Miami having 30+ players on the DLine the pick up of Roth was a huge one IMO, Roth is some much needed youth and intensity that our defense needs.. Not only that he can play some OLB in the Hybrid 3-4 that we plan on using this season.. Love it.. Channing Crowder, man, this was by far my favorite pick in the draft.. He has the potential to be a pro bowl LBer if his knees stay healthy, which, I believe they will.. He was cleared by several doctors and letters were sent to all NFL teams stating that his knees were fine.. Crowder is an intense and big LBer (Close to 250 lbs) Again, with the age of our LBers (Zach and Seau are almost done) This was a much needed pick, and I am gad Crowder fell all the way to us in round 3.. The last few picks we made were very good future picks.. Travis Daniels was a FS at LSU before moving to CB under Saban, I would expect him to get some work at FS with the Phins because that is a weak spot for us.. Another thing about him, he is the one who took Randall Gays (Started the SB for NE) starting spot over after Gay got hurt, Daniels stepped in and took the spot from him forcing Gay to be the Nickle Back.. Anthony Alabi is a big LT that is very strong (500 lb BP and 800 lb squat) Hudson Houck scouted him himself so I am sure that Houck was the one who helped advise that pick so he can work with him and hopefully he can contribute in the future.. And our last pick, Kevin Vickerson.. He is a pretty big DT and that was another area where we needed some help.. He looks like with some development he could be a very good player in our rotation.. They have also added some UDFA that I really think have a chance to make the team, some of them QB Brock Berlin(Miami) RB Kay Jay Harris(West Virginia) WR Josh Davis(Marshall) TE Alex Holmes(USC) TE Victor Sesay(Missouri) DE George Lewis(Iowa) DE Van Brown(Northeast Oklahoma) DT Matt f**a(Hawaii) DT Orrin Thompson(Duke) LB Lionel Turner(LSU) CB Shirdonya Mitchell(Missouri) S Mitch Meeuwsen(Oregon State) S Ray Ventrone(Villanova) I really like Kay Jay Harris to make 3rd RB and then Mitch Meeuwsen who was an outstanding FS at Oregon State but fell because of his slow 40 time, the guy can play and I hope he can make the team and compete at the FS spot.. Not too thrilled with the Berlin pick up but if it doesnt work out so what no loss and if it does work out then we got a good player for nothing! Either way, I loved the draft Miami had, and I love the moves they are making..

QUOTE(backman @ Apr 26, 2005 -> 05:30 AM) ok you never know but i rather go with the numbers then expectations NFL Scouts know players who just looked good in college because of numbers... Yes Timmy Chang set the all time passing yards mark... but what you might not know is that im pretty sure he is the all time leader in interceptions thrown in college history.. IIRC Matt Cassel on the other hand may have the tools to be an NFL QB, just was logged behind a ton of talent at USC Thats why you draft someone like that, development.. He doesnt have any pressure on him, just needs to sit back and see if he can be an NFL back up someday

QUOTE(Y2HH @ Apr 26, 2005 -> 08:10 AM) Yeah, I know, the Vikings are going to win the division every year. At least thats what is predicted...every year. They added a ton of free agents, egos like Darren Sharper from the Packers, who talked louder than he tackled (believe me, I had to watch his overrated ass for the past few years get progressivly worse), and they still have the worst coaching staff in the NFL. The Vikings will choke, as they always choke. The Vikings will not choke.. They actually have a defense this year.. Sharper is still a good player running his mouth or not, Smoot is HUGE for them because now they have two very solid corners Their DLine is starting to look very good and they have some solid LBers.. Vikes are going to pwn the NFC North for a good few years now IMO -
Im not gonna bash any of you Garland haters or say "I told you so" I would much rather welcome you to the club!! GARLAND!!!!

QUOTE(backman @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 07:30 PM) allright all good points but your telling me that neither of them are better then castle? who didnt start a game! and has thrown only 30 passes in his college career? Do you mean Matt Cassel from USC? He was stuck behind Palmer and Leinart... You never know, he may have the tools to be a solid 2/3 QB

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 07:28 PM) Nah, Lebron actually statistically does shoot 39% on his J's but still I dont like putting too much into that... the guy on the season is shooting 47% 27 ppg 7.2 apg 7.3 rpg 2.2 spg thats one hell of a line, only second year player too... The reason 39% wouldnt bother me so much is because dunk/layups are part of the game and are gonna happen anyways.. so it all balances out to me.. if you can understand what im trying to say

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 07:00 PM) I have nothing against his playing ability. I just think he would damper team-chemistry and me too selfish sometimes. When 100% healthy, this Bulls team had the ability to go FAR in the playoffs. Even now, w/o Curry and Deng, we can win vs Washington and put up a good fight vs Miami.........now if NJ end up beating Miami........can anyone say "Welcome to Detroit." But back to Lebron... I just don't like his attitude and tendency to be a Mama's boy. Let him go to the Knicks. Just my $.02. LeBron is not selfish, dont get confused because hes on a team with no one around him to help out.. He is avg what, 7 APG I also do not agree with qwerty, I havent seen anything wrong with his jumper.. everytime hes on TV I see him hitting jumpers all the time.. maybe its just when he is on TV though

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) yes, and the QBs I stated all along in this draft have been whom? Frye, Orton, McPherson? I also stated that I would have rather had Campbell than Rodgers. I mean if they HAD to take a QB with that pick and spend a ton of money on the QB position I would have much rather taken Campbell than Rodgers. However, I would have taken neither. I would have taken a defensive player such as Marlin Jackson and went after Orton or McPherson later in the draft. JMO. haha like 3 hours later.... WOMP WOMP

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 06:26 PM) I just can't stand to watch you guys spew profanities when arguing sports. It's crazy. Somewhere amidst that garbage rests vaild points and good grounds for debate. I can respect that but it happens... and I dont take any offense to it at all.. Arguing about sports gets heated sometimes, not like I am going to hold a grudge or anything.. I understand how it goes.. s*** me and Willie argue about stupid s*** all the time then the next time I get online were making fun of Dougly and everything is fine..

Its cause shes black isnt it :headshake

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 06:14 PM) All of his points were vaild. If you want to argue them, please do so in a more civil manner eh'? I get this feeling Addy wishes he was a mod real bad

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 04:59 PM) That list proves absolutely nothing. There are a ton of busts just waiting to happen on your first round list. Absolutely meaningless list. Ok ignore the people taken this year and then re look at the list... anyway you wanna try and "what if" this your wrong
-
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) Oh is that what I stated? I think you better go back and check that out. I stated that I would have rather had Marlin Jackson or another defensive player in the first round because it would fill a greater need. I said I would have rather had Campbell, Frye, Orton, or McPherson than Rodgers and take a defensive player in the first. I stated that Campbell, Frye, Orton, and McPherson are equal to or better than Rodgers. You want to go back and look at my argument? I never once stated what you in fact just claimed that I did. Like I said you don't even know what you are arguing about anymore. You are absolutely clueless. You fought all this time because that is what you thought I said? You sure wasted a lot of your time buddy. Damn retards. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) First, we were not arguing about later than 2nd, but after the first. I would say there is just as much success rate in a QB taken after then 1st round.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) If QBs Harrington, Ramsey, Boller, Grossman, Manning, Rivers, Roethilisberger, Losman, and Smith fail, then where does this put your argument? ahhh the what if game... face it... that list I posted alone proves if you want a starting QB your chances are better getting one in round ONE.. Not EVERYONE will work out, BUT those taken in the first work out a lot better than someone taken in later rounds... You dont have to like it, but the proof is right there in front of your face..
-
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 04:50 PM) Meaningless Meaningless? Your whole f***ING argument started with the fact that the Packers could have gotten someone else in the 5th round and still would have had equal talent to Aaron Rodgers... I think that list I just posted should shut your ass up
