Redskins interested in Bears #4 pick
T R U replied to southsider2k5's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The Redskins cant trade up to 4 and if they do the Bears are dumbasses #9 and #25 isnt enough for #4, and the Skins have nothing else of value... no 2nd, and no 1st round next season.. They dont have the ammo for a trade up of that value, Bears need to stand where they are and grab Mike Williams or a RB at #4 because Im starting to believe Miami is gonna take Braylon -
Miami traded Surtain to the Chiefs for a 2nd round pick and they will be swapping 5th round picks too.. Not too happy with the compensation but it gives us 8 million in relief and a 2nd round pick now..

Man, how can these guys be some dumb at cheating... Its not that hard if you do it right

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 07:09 PM) Benson, outside of dreadlocks ant playing at UT, Benson is nothing like Ricky. Especially personality wise. Benson busts his ass off the field and has a great passion for football. I used to wonder about him also, but the latest ESPN Mag has a great article on him. He would be a solid pick, but I still like Cadillac more. Would someone post who they pick for Pitt whenever they get there? Thanks. Benson doesnt even have Dreads anymore, shaved them off so the Ricky comparisons would stop..

ROFL They had Ronnie Brown going #13 That was a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE mock draft Miami will NOT take Aaron Rodgers, its Smith or Edwards, 100% guarantee if they dont trade out... If not, Miami is the biggest smoke screen franchise in the NFL

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:38 AM) I disagree with your post. I think that our main objective is going to be building our team from the minor league system. Its hard to deny that Brian Anderson may be ready for the bigs next year. I think that its not too far off to think that Dye may be DH'ing a little bit while Anderson fills in the outfield. I still think that Crede is gone and Fields will be up. Also there is a possibilty that our bullpen may also be filled in with a few new guys as well. All in all, I look forward to rebuilding from the ground up in 2007. Looking at our team right now, I would say our most pressing need would be a closer.. we need someone who is going to be THE man to come in and nail the game down.. I honestly want Jenks to be that man, but if its someone else, whatever... Im just tired of us having a committee every season.. We need a damn closer who is going to be the guy we turn to, not maybe you one day or you the next.. ONE GUY!!!

Kiper on top draft picks/Bears

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 09:48 PM) Exactly, the no contact after the initial 5 yards is going to make it very hard to cover him. Yeah, they are going to try to bump him, but he's too strong and his hands are like magnets when it comes to catching the ball. He's also a fantastic toute runner. Him and Mushin would be killer. And Mike's game speed is much faster than his 40 time would suggest. He's the only sureshot superstar in this draft IMO. I think Braylon is the only sure thing in this draft.. Mike Williams hasnt played in a while and they knock his speed (High 4.5's) but I still think he will be good but Braylon has the speed and showed in college he can take over and win games for you (Michigan State Game) And CWS, everything about Benson is true.. He is the most NFL ready back in the draft and should easily get over 1,000 yards in the season.. He has solid speed for a guy who is an in between the tackles runner.. He will be a good player, thats one thing you dont have to worry about if the Bears select him.. I see him play all the time living down here in Texas and I havent seen a game where he didnt dominate.. When they play OU they are usually down by so much they have to resort to passing, but Benson is a solid player, and he should be just that in the NFL -
QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) i dont know if they would draft another TE since jolley is pretty young and i know they got a second rounder, and prob will end up being good for the Jets. I just hope the pack have a good draft and get campbell or frye in the second rnd Theres no way they spend a 2nd on a TE now after getting Jolley.. A few things I have been hearing though.. Minnesota trading #7,#18, and a mid round pick to Miami for #2 and Washington has contacted the top 4 draft spots about trading up, but I dont know if they have any ammo to do so

QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:26 AM) Tolbert is a moron. I cant stand Tolbert, and I really cant stand Bill Walton.. Steven A Smith is great, and I like Skip too.. I dont get why no one likes them

QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 08:54 AM) I might be alone on this but, I think Stephan A Smith can be very funny at times, when he is ripping someone. Slava... Medvadenko that was funny, I like both of them.. I like when they do Old School Nu Skool on Sportscenter

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) Ya, I was talking about his one start against us towards the latter part of the year where he was flat out dominating. Ok I gotcha, I think I just missread the late part of it and thought you said last season.. I was like, wtf is he thinking.. he didnt dominate us

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:18 AM) I know this is waaaaay too early but seeing Nomar go down yesterday and probably lost for the season (if the groin is indeed torn) had me thinking We do not need to add any pitchers in the offseason since all 5 will be coming back and BMac will have one more year under him to help in case of injuries As for the line up, the biggest hole will be DH since Carl is a FA and Big Frank may be one too. Now, my first choice is to keep Frank here. If Carl has a nice season like he is on to right now, I doubt he comes back to play second fiddle to Frank. Hence, I think we should pursue Nomah to be a part time infielder (split with Uribe at SS) and even play a little DH some times. Given he may be out for the year, his value will plummet further not making him too attractive on the open market (and not many people wanted him this past off season so that can only get worse). I doubt the Cubs re-sign him. Thoughts? For obvious reasons I think we should stay clear from Nomar.. Seems like he gets injured every year We should resign Frank, let him finish his career here.. At the DH spot I honestly wouldnt mind .255 40 110+ from him, I think that would be acceptable plus I am shooting low on the AVG there, I think he will be higher anyways..

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 08:58 PM) Cleveland hit him around a bit in the first but he settled down after that. Bonderman is a very good pitcher who dominated the sox late last season, it should be a great pitching matchup. umm.. according to Jabronis stat thingy Bonderman did no such dominating over us.. you thinking of someone else maybe? 1-3 5+ ERA or did you mean like one start at the end of the season? w00t! Skipping class to go home and watch the game!!

QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:10 AM) That 5th starter vs. 5th starter thing rarely lasts beyond the first two weeks of the season. If he wins 18 or so games, he will have earned those wins. It won't be because of match ups. Agreed If Garland was like 3-0 with a 4.67 ERA right now, yeah ide prolly put more thought into that but he has pitched great so far.. And he has faced the same lineup as our other pitchers saw with that team, so I dont look too much into the opposing pitcher.. but 3E8 is right, if he faces the later pitchers in rotations he has a better chance to have more wins because of that, BUT, he will still have to pitch good enough to win the game because our offense will not always be clicking..

Its threads like these that make me all warm and happy inside I dont think I could be any happier with Jons start to this season.. but I think the thing that makes me happier than that, is the fact that everyone who talked s*** about Garland is now eating their words and finally being supportive and backing him instead of making up stupid nicknames (Judy, come on man). Just glad to see a thread like this, and im glad that Garland is our only pitcher who can get the job done on a 3rd game/Thursday Sunday game

QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) Garland Is coming up big! The next question is, do i pick him up on my fantasy team before some else does? You should, I have him starting on both of my teams... Garland is THE man

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 10:24 AM) For some reason we just can not figure out a way to win in Oakland.. If we can manage a series win there, that is a huge upgrade over last years team. I also want to see how we play against the lesser teams such as DET and KC, IMO I could care less about sweeps with these teams but more with Series Wins.. THat to me is Key to the season. As I always say Win Series and your Be in the Series.. Most of the time I was worried about Oakland because I just thought, ah s***, the big 3 Well now 2 of them are gone and Zito doesnt really scare me like the other two did, hopefully we can end this west coast curse and get some solid wins out there

QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) Garland 3-0 could it actaully happnen? You bet your ass it can

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 10:20 AM) This was my biggest fear going into this season with him.. Hitter have made the adjustment to him, and they are not swinging at anything outside of the strikezone... Granted I have seen 3 games, and each game it seems this way. Thats what I was worried about as well.. and so far its not looking too good but maybe he will get it all straightened out.. I mean, Shingo has been getting roughed up everytime he goes out there, I just think the smartest thing would be to let Hermanson take over the closing roll and let Shingo get back on track

Kiper on top draft picks/Bears
T R U replied to southsider2k5's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Braylon has to get to #4 first.. so far everything I have heard leads me to believe if Miami is stuck at #2 and cant trade out, Braylon will be their pick.. Saban doesnt think the RB's there deserve to be paid at #2 price so they would rather take the best overall talent, Edwards.. I think Miami will trade out though, and damn the Bears will be filthy with Muhsin and Braylon lining up.. Finally Grossman will have some weapons.. -
QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) why would the texans do this, they already have good defensive backs, what they really need is a defensive linemen, and since sharper is gone a lb Actually the Texans are in need of DB... Daunta Robinson on one side Phillip Buchanon on the other now that is going to be damn scary for opposing teams.. Other than Robinson they had old players.. Aaron Glenn is getting up there in age and some DBacks were definatley in need.. With their first pick now they could go a bunch of ways, but I am very happy they made this move.. Buchanon is 23 and is a good corner, and an excellent return man.. I like the move
