British co-worker asked why no relegation system in MLB like the EPL?
T R U replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
In high level athletics, male athletes ARE superior to female athletes. Not because "women aren't good" but because males are just bigger, stronger, and faster by nature. If this wasn't the case, they wouldn't be segregated into women's and men's athletics. So again, please don't confuse this with "every male is better than every female" because that's not what I am saying. My original statement was in reference to the best athletes in this country in men's sports not choosing soccer, sorry for not clarifying. -

Nothing I said was sexist. It wasn't meant to be degrading to women, there are plenty of great athletes that are women. -

Literally never heard of anyone you just named. So ive made my point. Also, womens soccer? really. You could find high school boys teams that would wipe the pitch with the USWNT. Don't get me wrong, they are the best in their field but when I said the best athletes in this country, obviously I was talking about males. -

Feel like ive been hearing this for 20 years, its the go to response for the soccer lovers. The best athletes in this country don't play soccer, and they never will. -
Yeah sorry I have to agree with Balta on this one. Anyone who tweets or posts "Its possible the White Sox trade Cease before opening day" is just wasting characters. Like get the hell out of here with that, no s%*#.

Soccer is the worst thing ever, no one should do anything like they do. -
I hope its the Padres, they have some really nice players in their system and it goes pretty deep too. That would be my ideal trade partner.
-
I would be floored if Getz played hardball all winter holding out and then trades Cease to Texas for a 25 year old utility player and two SP prospects with one of them being pretty underwhelming so far and turning 24 in a month. I mean, that can't be real right. Feels like they could have made a deal like that months ago if that's what they wanted in return.
-
Didn't they have a ton of scouts at his last start though? That doesn't seem to me like a team with no interest.
-
I gotta say, I would be pretty disappointed with a Duran, Porter, Leiter package. Think I would have to crawl back to Balta and baseball_gal_aly and apologize to them if that's what happens.
-
Maybe they know something, maybe they don't. Feels like there is something going on though with how this is blowing up again. What I really can't stand is the "insiders" with their emojis or vague comments and refusing to elaborate. So when something does happen they can then say "told ya so" and if nothing happens no sweat they didn't say anything in detail.
-
Barring an injury, it really doesn't matter what Cease does tonight. Its not like the Yankees are going to see him pitch 2 inning, give up 2 runs, and only K one guy and say "Actually, this guy stinks".

I know, it wouldn't make any sense if you didn't. Ive just been waiting to bust that gif out.

2023-24 NFL Season Thread

The Patriots are going to have a choice of a nice QB prospect at #3, I don't think they are players for Fields. When you consider they just trashed Mac Jones and now have an entire new regime, that screams drafted QB to me. The Giants are screwed. They are stuck with Daniel Jones, or they can cut him after this year and eat a 22 million dollar cap hit. If they trade for Fields and hes good, they would then have to resign Fields to a massive contract. Its just an ugly situation for them financially there. -

They're both close enough to get a QB, but even if Denver doesn't I don't think they are in any rush to make a panic trade anyways seeing as how they appear to be going scorched earth on their rebuild. -

Whats even realistic for Fields at this point for teams that need a starter now? Minnesota, Denver.... that's it right? -
I would say its not amazing at all, in fact, pretty much expected. This team is going to be hot garbage. The main thing I want to see is how long we have to watch these washed up vets on the roster before they let young guys get chances. How long will we have to watch Sheets gets rotated between DH/1B/OF before they finally cut the cord.

Didn't realize he was rising that much already. That doesn't help the situation, and now looks like Raiders are out of it as well. -

While this is true, most teams that really need a starting QB are in position to be able to just draft their own guy and have him for 5 years. Just looking at the top 10, Tennessee is the only one that really makes sense but it sounds like they want to stick with Levis. After that, its Broncos and Raiders. Broncos I don't see it, they are hitting the rest button. The Raiders might be the only realistic option at this point. And even then, there are guys like JJ McCarthy, Michael Penix, and Bo Nix who could be there in the second round. -

Meh, QBs these days can play to 40 so they will probably get a pretty good run out of him. -

Comparable, Josh Rosen was taken 10th overall in 2018. He played one season for Arizona and did not do very well as a rookie, Arizona ended up with the #1 pick and took Kyler Murray and Rosen was traded to Miami for a 2nd round pick. Now, this was 1 year after being taken 10th overall. Fields has 3 years of tape now and none of them have been very good in regards to an NFL QB. Is it possible they could get a 2nd round pick from someone, I suppose so, but im having a hard time seeing a team that fits it. I think it will end up being a 3rd or later. -

How does it not add up? Kirk Cousins is a very good starting QB in the NFL. Justin Fields is not. What exactly makes Fields worth a respectable draft pick? Because he was a high pick?
