  1. The Orioles are a great fit on paper, young team ready to compete now. Need a top SP, they have assets they can trade without hurting their team now and in the future. In reality, they are a terrible fit. They are reluctant to trade any of these high end guys, they have already come out and said they can't even resign their own players so like you said above, there is no way they would resign Cease for what it would take.
  2. From September until the EOS, he had a 2.83 ERA and was striking out almost 12 per 9. So yeah, I would say he probably would have helped any team going into the playoffs in 2023. Still had a FIP of 3.72 playing on a 100 loss team with no offense or defense. At 28 years old with 2 season of control left and front off the rotation appeal, if traded he will absolutely bring back a nice package.
  3. I just don't understand how anyone can defend that he was a good White Sox announcer. He was a total goofball, almost at all times. The difference is on the national level he isn't working on his stand up routine like he did during White Sox games. He can be a great announcer and one of the best in the business while not being a very good White Sox announcer. They aren't mutually exclusive.
  4. oh boy, this should be a good thread
  5. I find it interesting his post says “If my time in Chicago is over” Seems pretty obvious they haven’t closed the door on bringing him back potentially. Otherwise, why would you say “if”
  6. RF: Michael Conforto (0.7) / Gavin Sheets (-1.4) + 2.1 2B: Whit Merrifield (0.8) / Elvis Andrus (0.6) + 0.2 C : Austin Hedges (-0.1) / Yasmani Grandal (-0.7) + 0.6 SP: Lucas Giolito (-1.2) / Lucas Giolito (2.8) - 1.6 SP: Jack Flaherty (-0.5) / Mike Clevinger (2.2) -1.7 So basically, we would be LOSING 0.4 WAR with these 5 signings depending on how you hash it out.
  7. Im not diving into the Kim Ng good or not debate, all I am saying is if you're a fan of the Chicago White Sox you really shouldn't be scoffing at someone else's playoff appearance count.
  8. The White Sox have been around since 1901, that's 122 years. We have made the playoffs 11 times in that 122 year span. While playoffs have slowly expanded over that time frame, there is no Sox fan that should be calling making the playoffs unimpressive.
  9. If the White Sox signed all 5 of those players, they would be adding a whopping 1.1 bWAR to their 100 loss team. Aint no way they improve by 15 games with those guys, none.
  10. Not sure I would like this trade as a Bears fan. A very high second round pick for a 27 year old edge rusher who you have to immediately sign to a big money extension. Would rather have that pick in the Bears situation.
  11. Stupid Bears cost me survivor, that's what I get for putting my faith in Brian Hoyer and the Raiders so I shouldn't blame the Bears. Bagent didn't lose them the game, but this guy is not an NFL QB. 5.6 yards per attempt is woefully bad, and if the Raiders had made this any sort of a game he would have been forced into doing something other than dink and dunk and you would have seen the sacks and turnovers compile. Luckily, the Bears pretty much had control the entire game and he wasn't needed to do those things. They should still be drafting a QB early next year.

    Getz

I don't know, it would take some research but the 2018 White Sox lost 100 games. 5 seasons later they are a 100 loss team again. The tear down yielded 2 winning seasons, 2 playoff appearances, 2 playoff wins, and 2 swift exits from said playoffs.

    Getz

For as long as he was GM and for as little as his teams accomplished, he's got to be one of the worst to ever do it right? Given the length of time he spent as GM of this team. Does anyone else even come close to that level of failures?
  14. Is Fields out this week, I keep hearing just doubtful but I picked the Raiders in survivor mainly because I thought they were going up against Bagent. Figure you guys would hear more if your in the Chicago area.

    Getz

Chris Getz has been bad at his job in the White Sox organization. This is proven by the lack of development in our minor league system. Typically you don't see people who are bad at their current job get a promotion. In fact, JR basically admitted he punted this hire by saying that BS line about someone from outside the organization would take a year to learn whats going on here so that's why he stayed in house.

    Getz

Getz doesn't deserve and will not get the benefit of the doubt from me. As already outlined above, he inherited numerous top prospects and high draft picks and under his watch it has sunk into the abyss. There is nothing to suggest otherwise. He had a chance to make an impression by firing Grifol and instead he got a vote of confidence. You just cant retain that man after losing 100 games in a season where you were expecting contention, it can't happen.
  17. He also didn't know Kim Ng would become available at the time and you know how he loves his White Sox alumni
  18. Yep, basically you just can't skip out on the QB position. If you're in a position to take one high in the draft and you need one, you just have to do it.
  19. Atlanta messed up, if you're going to ignore the QB position and draft all these elite skill players then you need to sign a veteran QB type to "Trent Dilfer" your team. You don't draft a 3rd or later round QB and hope they hit. That gives you the time to try and develop those later QB's instead of thrusting them into a contention window. Their whole division is trash though, so they may still win it anyways but there's no way that's a championship caliber team.

    Gabe Kapler

You know why the White Sox rarely ever fire coaches? Because you still have to pay them their contract. You think JR wants to pay TWO managers at once? No shot.
  21. If they could have landed Harper and Wheeler I think it changes the fortunes of this franchise massively. Harper especially.
  22. I would be shocked if they give up a good prospect and eat most of the money. I hope you are right and the Royals just keep him or send him elsewhere if that's the case.
  23. As much as I want to s%*# on the White Sox, there is just no way they take on all that money and give up meaningful prospects. If the White Sox acquire Salvador Perez, it will be with KC picking up at least half that tab and the White Sox sending some middling prospect. Anything more than that and its braindead management. I can stomach $10 million a year for 2 years of Perez even though its completely unnecessary for the state of this franchise.
  24. The problem was they thought they could pick up Kimbrel's option and then flip him for a nice return to make up for what they traded to get him. In reality, the only thing we could get was a 34 year OFer that we tried to play out of position who was terrible.
  25. Baez was pretty bad last season, no way he opts out.
