If the White Sox signed all 5 of those players, they would be adding a whopping 1.1 bWAR to their 100 loss team. Aint no way they improve by 15 games with those guys, none.

Not sure I would like this trade as a Bears fan. A very high second round pick for a 27 year old edge rusher who you have to immediately sign to a big money extension. Would rather have that pick in the Bears situation. -

Stupid Bears cost me survivor, that's what I get for putting my faith in Brian Hoyer and the Raiders so I shouldn't blame the Bears. Bagent didn't lose them the game, but this guy is not an NFL QB. 5.6 yards per attempt is woefully bad, and if the Raiders had made this any sort of a game he would have been forced into doing something other than dink and dunk and you would have seen the sacks and turnovers compile. Luckily, the Bears pretty much had control the entire game and he wasn't needed to do those things. They should still be drafting a QB early next year. -
I don't know, it would take some research but the 2018 White Sox lost 100 games. 5 seasons later they are a 100 loss team again. The tear down yielded 2 winning seasons, 2 playoff appearances, 2 playoff wins, and 2 swift exits from said playoffs.

For as long as he was GM and for as little as his teams accomplished, he's got to be one of the worst to ever do it right? Given the length of time he spent as GM of this team. Does anyone else even come close to that level of failures?

Is Fields out this week, I keep hearing just doubtful but I picked the Raiders in survivor mainly because I thought they were going up against Bagent. Figure you guys would hear more if your in the Chicago area. -
Chris Getz has been bad at his job in the White Sox organization. This is proven by the lack of development in our minor league system. Typically you don't see people who are bad at their current job get a promotion. In fact, JR basically admitted he punted this hire by saying that BS line about someone from outside the organization would take a year to learn whats going on here so that's why he stayed in house.
-
Getz doesn't deserve and will not get the benefit of the doubt from me. As already outlined above, he inherited numerous top prospects and high draft picks and under his watch it has sunk into the abyss. There is nothing to suggest otherwise. He had a chance to make an impression by firing Grifol and instead he got a vote of confidence. You just cant retain that man after losing 100 games in a season where you were expecting contention, it can't happen.

He also didn't know Kim Ng would become available at the time and you know how he loves his White Sox alumni

Yep, basically you just can't skip out on the QB position. If you're in a position to take one high in the draft and you need one, you just have to do it. -

Atlanta messed up, if you're going to ignore the QB position and draft all these elite skill players then you need to sign a veteran QB type to "Trent Dilfer" your team. You don't draft a 3rd or later round QB and hope they hit. That gives you the time to try and develop those later QB's instead of thrusting them into a contention window. Their whole division is trash though, so they may still win it anyways but there's no way that's a championship caliber team. -
You know why the White Sox rarely ever fire coaches? Because you still have to pay them their contract. You think JR wants to pay TWO managers at once? No shot.
-
As much as I want to s%*# on the White Sox, there is just no way they take on all that money and give up meaningful prospects. If the White Sox acquire Salvador Perez, it will be with KC picking up at least half that tab and the White Sox sending some middling prospect. Anything more than that and its braindead management. I can stomach $10 million a year for 2 years of Perez even though its completely unnecessary for the state of this franchise.

Andrew Vaughn and Eloy: what's the plan here?
T R U replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The problem was they thought they could pick up Kimbrel's option and then flip him for a nice return to make up for what they traded to get him. In reality, the only thing we could get was a 34 year OFer that we tried to play out of position who was terrible. -
Baez was pretty bad last season, no way he opts out.

Hes maxed out physically is what I meant but since you brought it up, we have 3 seasons of data now that are all practically identical. My money says Vaughn is what he is. -

T R U replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I can't imagine any offer for Vaughn would be worth doing. Vaughn is a 1B only player with no speed, no standout defensive skills, middling power for the position. Hes maxed out. At this point you roll the dice and hope something clicks for him next season. -

This coach has no balls, why are you not going for it there -
I didn't say impossible, I said difficult. Difficult personalities in sports is nothing new and teams have to deal with it all the time.
-
I look at it more like could you sign him on a 1 yr deal dirt cheap and he pitches well enough to be traded for an asset later in the year, not that he's going to spearhead a championship window. But as you said, its a fat chance.
-
No argument from me, he is obviously an incredibly difficult person to deal with and not well liked. I don't like everyone I work with either, doesn't mean they shouldn't have a job. Or I could just be the problem, its a fine line.
-
Listen, I don't disagree with what you're saying. Its easy to sit here at your computer and say "Well I don't get why you need to choke someone to get off. Just don't do it". That's not how this works. I don't understand why people do drugs. Im not into that, but that's exactly it im not them and humans don't all share the same interests and desires. I completely understand why people wouldn't want Trevor Bauer on their team and why they don't want to root for him. That doesn't mean he shouldn't be allowed to be on a team period because some private thing hes into was dragged into the spotlight for malicious intents.
