Of course it was, but I asked him to elaborate on his weird comment and he chose not to so Ill just assume he was serious and move on.
-
That's a pretty ridiculous take, even for you.
-
What does this even mean? Are you suggesting they had some sort of domestic violence pact?

2023 MLB offseason signings and rumors thread
T R U replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think the point is they shouldn't be relevant to a team like the White Sox (Market size, going for it, etc.) Spending $10 million on 2 players that are sunk costs shouldn't prevent a team that is all in from making moves to accomplish the ultimate goal, winning a championship. -
This is an odd subject, because technically the Blackhawks did nothing wrong to lose you as a fan, it was the people who currently own/run the team. If those people were to move on, would you be inclined to be a fan again?
-
You have to imagine with a better coach and system he should rebound. Its very odd that a franchise level QB just falls off a cliff like that.
-
It sounds like they only hired Hackett to lure Rodgers, but that didn't work out

Sheesh, would have loved to see that on the Sox -
Liam Hendriks coming up in trade discussions

The difference is obviously Rodon has pitched 317 innings over the last 3 seasons (2 years of success, not 1) and Sale has pitched 47 -
The Sox aren’t serious World Series contenders. It doesn't matter if they back into the playoffs in a weak division, they’re coming off a massively disappointing campaign with many of the same holes remaining that did last year. like I said earlier, as currently constructed they aren’t a threat to beat teams like Houston, New York, LA, etc. in a few 7 game series.
-
Lol, just stop.
-
This team as currently constructed are not World Series threats. They have enough to win the Central though.

His 2022 is definitely the outlier of his career, so there's also that to consider. -
Liam Hendriks coming up in trade discussions

It would be pretty vomit inducing if the White Sox use Liam to acquire a mid-bat defensive catcher. Are there not a handful of these guys sitting in the free agent pool currently? -

I don't think that's an option at all. Again, why would the Sox entertain the idea of trading Liam if it wasn't purely to reduce payroll? There is no logical reason behind trading him and then spending his money on what, a 2nd baseman? Makes no sense. If hes traded, I think you see him go for prospects and his payroll isn't spent back into the MLB team. -

I didn't say they were dumping him just to save money, I am saying they aren't going to go lateral with it and trade his salary for close to or equal parts in other MLB player salaries. Of course they would trade him for real prospects -

Between Graveman, Lopez, Kelly, and Bummer we have plenty of options to close games if needed. If the Sox are really trading Liam, its to lower the payroll so I wouldn't be expecting them to take back highly paid players. There's no reason to trade him unless it was to reduce payroll. -
I would be fine rolling this out for opening day assuming we don't add anything else. SS - Anderson (R) LF - Benintendi (L) CF - Robert (R) DH - Jimenez (R) 3B - Moncada (S) 1B - Vaughn (R) C - Grandal (S) RF - Colas (L) 2B - Sosa (R)

Jesse Rogers: Sox Sign Benintendi - 5yr / $75M
T R U replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah but if all of his home games were played in the pacific time zone on Tuesdays he would have hit 15 more HRS. -
Jesse Rogers: Sox Sign Benintendi - 5yr / $75M
T R U replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I’ll save my judgement for when we find out who is getting shipped out to accommodate this signing. Generally when you hear your team just signed someone to the richest contract in team history you expect better than Andrew Benintendi. -
Seeing the contracts being given out, its not hard to look at the White Sox and truly now realize we will never be able to put a sustained winner on the field because we will A. Never sign a superstar free agent to the contract they would demand B. Never resign a homegrown/traded superstar to the contract they would demand C. Never spend to supplement or round out a championship caliber roster
-
Were people struggling with this?
-
$100 million contract? Are you nuts. That's too rich for the Sox blood.
-
They have cried poor all off-season and now they are going to drop $60-$80 million on Benintendi? Ill believe it when I see it.
-
I saw something else good the other day. In the last 105 years the White Sox have won 3 playoff series. They all occurred in 2005.
