QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 07:48 PM) Does this feel like an Oakland game now? You mean when your number 4 pitcher with an ERA over four shuts down the Yankees in NY for 7 innings and you are winning and there is nothing but negativity in the Game Thread...yes it does.

My Top Three are: 3. Bo Jackson's return on opening day 1993, his first at-bat he hit a home-run. 2. 1993 Clinching game. Bo's towering homerun that went as high as the upper deck. 1. 1983 Clinching game. I was 11, but I remember it like yesterday.

QUOTE(YahtzeeSox @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) Someone piss in your cheerios today? Christ, say anything bad about Brooks and be crucified. Say anything that the majority of people don't agree with and be crucified. SORRY for being busy on a Thursday and thinking they could have done better. s***, they could have done this before school started on a weekday. Sorry for expressing my opinion. I'll remember not to again. And...the fact they are making pay for it sucks too!!! Plus we don't get to sit in the dugout with the team. Add to the fact, they might lose that game..they should only send us to games that they have won in advance. This could have been handled better, I agree!

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 05:59 AM) Because that's the only night left on the schedule that they could accomidate a group this large. Funny.... now attendance is a bad thing. :rolly Some are never happy

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 08:19 AM) I just had DBAH0 change the title here for me to find out interest levels. It would almost have to be an early game, maybe 8am or 8:30. And if it works out, this could be a fun thing to do annually. Also if there is legit interest, are we talking about 12" or real Chicago softball? I have stuff to play 12", but nothing to play 16", so if people wanted to do that, we would need someone to bring balls. Wouldn't co-ed be 12"? Either one is fine by me!

QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) I'm in if softball is involved! I'm in if softball and breakfast are involved. We could put the Waffle maker at 3rd!

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 12:11 PM) Yeah, that must be a b**** getting the ballpark. 53 to 90 to 94. Yuck. I wonder if I'll see him at Woodfield Mall or something. I saw him at Todai in Woodfield over the summer. Actually my son noticed him first. He loves him!

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) You're not going to sit downstairs with the rest of us...??? I'm not sure... I am trying to convice my buddy with whom I sit. The problem is that he has used all his change dates, so he would be buying an extra ticket. Only if you put out...

QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 12:04 PM) Steroids aren't the only answer for players getting busted by the new policy. For Bears fans, I'm sure you all remember Jim Miller getting suspended 4 games for violating the NFL's substance abuse program. He never took steroids, but there was a banned substance in the suppliment he was taking that made him fail the drug test. I'm not sure about what substances are banned by major league baseball, but I'd say that there's a good possibility that Palmiero and Franklin could have a similar case as Jim Miller. MLB has said they have tested postive for Steroids.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 10:16 AM) It is really starting to look like there is a chance that this game could be the clincher. How cool would that be? I am going, so that theory could bode well. I was in attendance for the '83, '93, and 2000 clinching games. Also, so people know... If you already have tickets to the game, you can purchase only the Patio Party for $28.00. I called Anthony to confirm this, just make a special note on the sheet when you fax it in.

That's just what the Dems need!!

QUOTE(black jack @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 09:40 AM) How does it work again? You put a player on waivers... A team claims him and you can pull him back or let that team take him? If the player clears then you can trade him? Yes, when a player clears you can trade him to anyone. If a player is clamied you can pull him off and then negotiate with the team. Also, I recall, Manny Ramirez cleared waivers last year.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 08:56 AM) Can someone tell me who some of the bigger names were that have been picked up through waivers? One of biggest in recent years was Fred McGriff by Atlanta in the mid-90s.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 05:10 PM) I think he's connected with the fans just fine.. it's the media he has an issue with. I agree Steff. I had the sincere pleasure and honor of meeting and chatting with the Big Man a few times. At one Soxfest he was signing autographs for a long line of people, I asked him to sign one of grey kids gloves they sell at the park, for toddlers. I said "Could you sign this for my Son" "Sure, how old is he?" "Just over a month old.." He asked if I had a picture, I took out my wallet and showed him. He told me that's a big kid for one month and that my son with take his job in 20 years. He connected fine, by me.
