QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) Dye should bat 3,4, or 5 beginning Friday. Since returning to the line-up, Dye has gone 6-13, 1 Hr, 7 Rbis in three games. He's got Spidey-sense from those bites! -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:59 PM) So, how did he get bit repeatedly by spiders? He was on a fieldtrip with his High School and too occupied taking pictures of Kirsten Dunst to notice. -

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:57 PM) DID CARL GET INJURED??? COULD WE HAVE JUST MADE A TRADE DEALING EVERETT??? He was thrown out for using sign language -
QUOTE(Balance @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 03:33 PM) If it ever gets built, are people going to call it "the big screw"? Sorry, that nickname is already taken. You're welcome, ladies!

Can we trade for Carlos Lee, too? He's good.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) For those who are registered at the Trib's site, check out the drawings of the building. It would be totally unique in the Chicago skyline. Loos like someone's compensatiing for the lack of something, eh???

QUOTE(sweatpants @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:03 AM) When he isn't hitting well, then his injuries are nagging him. Yeah...it kind a works that way. Also, here are other revelations about Franks actions: When he's thristy, then he drinks water. When he's hungry, then he eats food. When he vomits, he just read your post. :puke

QUOTE(sweatpants @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:03 AM) I have been a White Sox fan the last 20 years and my favorite player since 1990 was Frank Thomas. I collected all his cards and magazine covers, but I don't know if this has been discussed before, but doesn't it seem like when Frank is hitting well, no injuries are bothering him. When he isn't hitting well, then his injuries are nagging him. There was a article in Sports Illustrated a while back hinting Pete Sampras would try to fake in an injury in the middle of a match he's losing in a scapegoat ploy to losing to lesser foe. I do know Frank is hurt, but could he be embelishing it a little bit because he's hitting so bad(average wise)? You are right on the money with your theory. Frank HAS to be faking it. It all makes sense! My God, why didn't I think of that. There is NO way he could still be hurting after surgery. Surgery heals, it doesn't cause more pain. The team has the best record in baseball...you're right i would NOT want to be on that team! Pete Sampras & Tennis = Frank Thomas & Baseball. Perfect comparison. Can we trade him for AJ Burnett? um...imagine it in green.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) I seriously didn't mean Jewish people. If I offended any Jewish people, I am sorry. I was doing my Ozzie talk. I will use Joo for now on. As a card carrying member of the Journal of Oregon Ornithology (JOO) I am offended by this term! Journal of Oregon Ornithology (JOO) -

QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) Score update said that Frank is very disapponted in the progress with his ankle and is going to go back and see the doctor who did his surgery. He will also have more tests. Aww....f*** me sideways with a football. I hate hearing that. I hope he gets better.
-
QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 11:33 PM) Vizquel isn't an offensive savior, but he will make a lot fewer outs than Uribe and help extend innings. Plus Ozuna makes for an obvious platoon when lefties pitch. Omar is only hitting .263 against LH... Not really a need for a platoon.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 10:03 AM) Everything I hear is that Burnett wants to go somewhere that isn't Chicago. f*** him. Everything I hear, Burnett isn't the GM of the Marlins. They'll take the best offer regardless... Remember, he is a good friend of Ozzie...

I'm sure they were all Cub fans dressed as Red Sox fans... Sneaky bastards

QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 07:13 AM) My premise was that he was performing lower than a true closer should. I was just giving pitching examples. Here are a selected games of Billy Wagner, a fantasy of many here. 2 hits and a WP http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/gameLog?gameId=250416122 Blown Save 1 hr http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/gameLog?gameId=250506116 Couple hits, couple runs http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/gameLog?gameId=250515122 Blown Save 1 Hr http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=250524128 2 hits, 1 HBP, 1 inherited runner score, 1 earned run http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/gameLog?gameId=250605122 See you can do that with anyone.
-
I only see a couple games in that where he was the "closer" Coming in during a tie game, blowout (to get some work), or more than one inning during a tie game in extra innings. Those don't count. There are many closers, including Eric Gagne, who do not perform well in non-save situations.

So I think the conclusion is that Burnett can be good and can be bad, too? Am I right?

QUOTE(Benson&Rexage @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 09:17 PM) I hope this guy isnt serious about trading Mark You quoted his entire post before your response... Did you read it??? He says it was a joke on the ohter posts about getting rid of good players. Sheesh
-
QUOTE(wilmot825 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 09:14 PM) what about Pods then? After your, now deleted, post about Burnett deal being done...you post this. I guess you don't like it here.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 07:29 PM) I would put Griffey at CF, Rowand to RF, Dye to 1B. Make sure you guys have your xbox plugged in when you play that game, because no GM would ever do that in the stretch run. Trade away the teams top RBI guy then replace him at first with an OF who has never played that position. (I'm sorry Dye played it for one game) 1b is not as easy as you may think.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:59 PM) Vizquel isn't coming here. Book it. All it took was an extra year and he would have been here in the off season. He has no ill-will against the White Sox. Ozzie and him are very good friends, too. But then again, who isn't Ozzie's friend?? -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 01:57 PM) I love when Tadihito doesn't have to give himself up. It would be interesting to see what kind of numbers he would put up if he were batting 6th or 7th. That's why picking up Omar Vizquel would be huge. He is a one the best #2 hitters around. Takes pitches, bunts extremely well, & makes good contact. That allows you to move Gooch down the order to produce more runs and you don't give up anything defensively.
