QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 06:22 PM) Although I didn't think they'd be this good, I was actually pretty optimistic about our chances this year. I was pretty wrong on a few players though. From March 20: From March 28: I'm an idiot! Nah...you're not an idiot. Jon never showed us anything more than that. The Idiots are those who refused to believe he finally matured after his hot start.

Post your links to past threads heralding the demise of the 2005 White Sox. I figured this will keep the board clear of "Bumped" threads. Which could be confusing to some. Some of my faves: Dmitri Young's prediction on the AL Central coming down to the Indians and the Tigers http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=32017 Baseball Prospectus predicting our 4th place finish. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=31291 Minny sports writers trying to stir up controversey during Spring Training with AJ http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=31411

QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) No thank you. I pray that we don't have to face the Cards! Who would you want to play? The Rockies?? Any team that makes it to World Series is going to be good. I think they're also hoping they don't have to face us...

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) Who knew plushies ate so much??? We did ours for about 5k, and then my inlaws bought the alcohol We love to eat Spam. Got any? -
QUOTE(SouthSidePride05 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 07:58 AM) I've been to a couple games by myself, and never really thought anything of it. Just the other day I was listening to Carmen & Silvy on the radio, and they were ripping on people who go solo; they were talking about Carol Slezak who went to Wrigley Field and US Cellular solo in one day, saying 'doesn't she have any friends, that's so weird' etc. So now I'm a little bit self-conscious about being seen at the Cell by myself. I work in the city, all my friends work in the suburbs, so its' easier just going alone sometimes. Should I still go alone on Monday night? Absolutely Not! You should always base your descisions on what two, mildly talented DJs say on sports talk station.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) Ours was just over 10K. 10K just for JR and a location.. nuts. Mine was almost 20K. Friggin Cocaine. Helluva Drug -
QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) JR was a key leader in the 93 strike/hold out. Glavine I believe is the main leader for active players for the players union. It was 1994...and Steff is right. It was Schilling.

ONLY LOSERS GO TO GAMES ALONE!!!! YOU'RE NOT A LOSER ARE YOU???? Actually, I have. One time the park was so empty, I pretended they were playing the game just for me!

Why would Gardenhire start Boone in the 3-hole?? He hasn't hit well all year. Why put that pressure on him? Oh well...Good for us.

-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) If somehow you think you can divorce baseball from math (and hence; statistics), then you're gonna run into some problems along the way. My mistake for thinking it was too obvious for green.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=100...23an5M&refer=us For some odd reason the tax revenues are increasing at a rate way higher than projected, even after everyone said tax cuts wouldn't raise revenues and create jobs... And for a little fun with numbers, a look at tax revenues before and after the tax cuts. http://www.poorandstupid.com/2005_07_10_ch...111027505546464 I was told, when joining Soxtalk, that there'd be NO math.

QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 07:53 AM) Baldwin had an outstanding 1st half in 2000. I think he had 10 or 11 wins by the ASB. Our top three pitchers in the first half of 2000 were, in order, Baldwin, Eldred, Sirotka... Due to injury, we started Jim Parque in the playoffs against Seattle. :puke

That's him... If he's healthy, he's a solid hitter. But where would he play? He's a DH/1B With Gload coming up, that doesn't give him any place to play. But he could be a good insurance option. Again, if he is 100%

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 04:53 PM) I was there buddy, in the pavilion, 15th row. Great Show except for Bowie cutting itshort due to illness. I was just gonna ask if you heard Prick's 2001 album, The Wreckard. I didnt even know there was another album until I did some research lately. It is STRANGE. Some really good stuff, some stuff way out there. I have a few Lucky Pierre songs on my Ipod as well. I didnt know Reznor was a part of that band, I only thought he appreciated it and brought Kevin McMahon into Nothing records because of his appreciation. Yeah he was involved in Lucky Pierre. I was in the pavillion box seats. Great Show I liked the Wreckard, not as much as the earlier stuff. You're right...it's way out there.
