QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 12:04 AM) Though, neither actor has enough star power to draw fans into the theater for a dying franchise like the Bond movies, IMO. True, niether is a A-list star, but if you recall neither was Pierce Bronsan when he took over the role in 1995. He was most famous for Remington Steele from the mid-80s ansd his jobs before "Goldeneye" were mostly bad TV movies and "Lawnmower Man"

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 11:43 PM) I don't know either one, but anyone who reminds you of Dalton doesn't sound very good. What I exactly meant was that his Bond would be darker, like Dalton's Bond. I wasn't comparing the actors. But I am going to choose Julian. He's got that suave thing down, but he's got the eyes of a killer too. That's Bond.

According to published reports, it all up to Amy Pascal. She is the co-head of Sony Pictures and she is going to choose between two men to wear the famous tux and drink the martini in "Casino Royale" in 2006. Julian McMahon - star of Nip/Tuck and the upcoming Fantastic 4 movie Daniel Craig - co-star in Tomb Raider and Road to Perdition Let's see what you think. Me? Julian will continue the type of Bond we had with Bronson, it seems. They are similar in style and humor. Distinguished, dark-side and charming. Daniel will be a bad-ass Bond, akin to Timothy Dalton. Very much like Ian Fleming created. I don't know, right now.

This could be very interesting, developing story. Apparently he dropped out for "Personal, family reasons" But members of his family, including his Mom, have no idea what he is talking about. According to the article, the other finalists has picked him as the odds-on favorite. I love Weird happenings on Reality TV. American Idol "favorite" drops out mysteriously

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 04:34 PM) There is a huge difference between spanking and abusing your child. To each their own though on how you punish or don't for that matter. I don't see a difference.
-
Neither I or my wife will EVER spank, slap or touch our son in any harmful way. I don't care how "out-of-control" you think a child is getting there are plenty of alternatives than hitting a child. Trust me, my son has gotten OUT OF CONTROL. And if anyone else spanks my child, well... Thats when hitting does come into play

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 8, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/meast/03/08/...n.ap/index.html But if you put that into context with the political climate at the time, it's like saying JFK might have died from banging his head on the dashboard in Dallas. Many factions wanted Tut dead, particulary his grandmother and the High priests who were upset at his refusal to return to the polytheistic society his father abandoned when he was Pharoah. His rumored Grandfather, High Priest Aye became pharoah after, and then it passes to a General who had no children. That started the Rameses dynasty. Then came Moses...

QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 6, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) Vaughn is one of the worst actors that keeps getting jobs. How does he keep getting them? This is what some more critics said. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/be_cool/ I love Roger Ebert's quote: You may agree with him or not, but his one DAMN good writer. Especially when he hates movies. As for the film, I haven't seen it yet. I read the books many times and loved it. But from what I understand it is loosely based on the novel "Be Cool", which is a shame. Elmore Leonard is a God and thats what made "Get Shorty" work, it's faithfullness to the original source. But it's a different creative team behind this flick, so...

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 01:24 PM) tradin Carlos got us SPod, Luis, El Duque, AJ."" we could have gotten more for Lee. We didn't get Duque and AJ for him. We could have traded Lee for a better player like Castillo and still have made some signings. How come I'm foolish for believing it was a bad deal now, but you aren't for thinking it was a good deal already? Probably has something to do with the only opinions welcome around this site anymore are those made by the kool-aid drinkers. We did free up money from the Lee trade that allowed us to sign El Duque and AJ, thus they are a byproduct of the trade. I never said it was a good trade and you are wrong. I said you are acting like it's a complete failure before ONE game has been played. You may be right and it is ok to be weary of a deal, but to claim a deal is completely 100% failure before one ball and been thrown is drinking the negative kool-aid. You may turn out to be right, but I was suggesting reserving judgment until we see how it turns out.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 04:45 PM) I think you can pick strep back up pretty quick, but after just getting the flu its supposed to be tough to picking it back up. Wait...reread that and no I dont' think you do. They are seperate viruses, like steff said. They are separate virus so be careful. If you get Strep follow my advice: Specifically look for and red rashes. There is a strain of Scarlett Fever going around. my son had it and it sucks...I mean sucks. Without treatment it can cause Liver or Kidney Failure. See a doctor right away...it's easily treated.

I am off work...so it's time to sit back and enjoy a little afternoon baseball!! For those outside Chicago. Casimir Pulaski was an American Revolutionary War Hero from Poland. The large Polish community in Chicago got Illinois to recognize his actions. So his birthday is a state holiday. http://www.chipublib.org/003cpl/pulaskibiog.html (CUE MUSIC) THE MORE YOU KNOW... QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 11:26 AM) It looks like it's down to Clive Owen or Julian McMahon as who will be Bond. I happen to like both of the choices, Owen before McMahon though. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=8520 Other breaking Bond news... The director Martin Campbell spoke with the NY Daily news about "Casino Royale" It seems that they are approaching this film like "Batman Begins" It will feature a 30-something James Bond, new to the 00 status, on one of his first assignments. But it will take place in 2006. I guess erasing the previous 20 films' mythology. 007 Director dicusses the plot of "Casino Royale" On a side note...There is speculation amongst Bond Fans that this might not be the whole feature, but a flashback for the pre-title sequence only... If it is the whole film...I'm not sure how to fell about this approach. Right now, I don't like it.
