Between Austin and San Antonio? Perfect. The Hill Country Hitters! Bring it.

Be snarky all you like to begin this response...It doesn't raise your level of discourse at all. Also realize you (and others here) are in a incredibly small group being glad about one the best broadcasters in baseball is now leaving your club. He grew up a bigger fan than you, overcame huge obstacles and still became a top PBP man in Chicago and nationwide He is so highly regarded around the country compared to any of his colleagues. He will now promote, even indirectly, the Detroit Tigers, when he is on Fox and ESPN. Finally understand how this is symptom of the bigger White Sox disease and being complacent to it...helps them spread it.
-
Instead of contributing to the conversation, you did this...
-
When you let the Sox get you to ignore the symptoms...they will continue to let their disease spread. Thats all I'm saying.

I'll take this anyway I want. He was one of the best in the country, grew up a fan, and we had him and let him go. Its indicative of this franchise and the bad moves they make on and off the field. If you can't see that and try to minimize this as "just the announcer" then you are helping enable their behavior. They want fans to not care.

Chris Young, GM for the Rangers, played on the Royals 2015 championship team. He's avoided hiring anyone from there! I mean...

Rangers took two seasons....but they had quality talent in the pipeline before Seager and Semien and then Eovaldi and Degrom. Jung, Heim, Lowe, Garcia, and Carter. Hence my comment about young talent. They have to do all three, not just spend. Then you're the Mets.

The White Sox can rebound...They can be that team that loses 90-100 and wins in a couple years. BUT They have they have to spend the money and spend it wisely (enough bullpen big contracts) Hire GOOD coaching to keep the team focused all season. They have to start DEVELOPING Young talent. No more drafting and signing talent and letting them "find themselves". Will they? Probably not.

I always wished my second World Series parade would be in Chicago again... But taking my youngest son to his first parade (my oldest got to go in 2005) will be special.

Why the Rangers succeeded and the Sox didn't...
RibbieRubarb replied to Lip Man 1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Bochy had a previous relationship with Rangers GM Chris Young. That and the promise to get good players helped lure him out of retirement. I don’t think the Sox could have matched that. -
I moved to Texas. Go Rangers. ?

The Fans of the teams will always remember. Who cares who else does?

Its almost like the Phillies have coaching and player development

I doubt Bochy would have come out of retirement for the White Sox. Chris Young has a relationship with him from his playing days and showed him the roadmap for their success...good farm system and SPENDING $$$$$$

You know...its funny. The White Sox tried to do it the Rangers way. Sucked. Got high draft picks. Signed/Traded for young talent. Courted big name free agents. Difference? Ownership/Management. Couldn't scout or develop the young talent and ownership would not pay the free agents. What could have been...

Its amazing the effect of first and second year, homegrown players, are having on those teams. Develop talent, sign good free agents and have experienced management lead them. Seems simple.
