One of Eastwood's BEST!

The highest groosing independent film of 2008. Fireproof's advance sales accounted for 40% of all Fandango sales the week before before the film opened. It was released on September 26, 2008 in 839 theaters. In its first weekend, Fireproof grossed $6,836,036, putting it in fourth place at the box office. In each of its first four weeks in theatrical release, it gained theaters; with 839 in its first weekend, 852 in its second, 875 in its third, 905 in its fourth, and began to slowly drop from then on. During its run, Fireproof had a domestic gross of $33,456,317,more than tripling the lifetime earnings of its predecessor, Facing the Giants, and moving it into the top 5 Christian films by earnings. Kirk Cameron is a Box Office GOD!! Oops...sorry God.

My favorite thing about Sox Park. Home run, winning game or special night. Cold beer and the pinwheels. See, I can make "FIRE" White Sox-related What's your fave?

One of Stephen King's best books turned into an awful movie... or is it??? Discuss...

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 08:32 AM) I get to watch this with the YES announcers tonight. Oh joy. 4 years ago they were some of the best in the league, but now they're just horrible. I like that they give the same home run call to the opposite team. I would like to hear them do a "Hawk" and give a depressing "See Ya" when we hit one out.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 08:53 AM) Yeah, you missed the point totally, not that it is a real surprise. You call people lazy, yet you repeat the same old line over and over, which has been proven an urban legend. I asked you to prove something, and you gave me anecdotal evidence. I'd start looking in the mirror before you keep calling people lazy and ignorant. game.set.match. Well said Mike.

QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 04:00 AM) I understand your point and agree to a certain extent, but how do you and others get the idea that because we are barely contending in an absolutely terrible division that that means everything is clicking correctly. It's not; this team is horrendous with RISP and simply can't back up their pitching. They just never seem to click. Obviously this isn't true 100% of the time, but quite often. It has been like this for a long time, and most people agree... because it's true. And I never said anything CLOSE to suggesting the Sox aren't getting pieces. I was only questioning the direction of hitting on this team. You are changing the subject and putting words in my mouth. I agree with you! They don't know what you're talking about. Fire Walker is a good idea... Invasion USA wasn't. Why did Chuck do that movie?!?
-
QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 09:28 PM) Probably a lot of them. BS? Then why does it seem our most veteran hitters seem to always attempt to knock the ball out of park rather than string hits together? Why does this offense CONTINUOUSLY fail to score runners with as little as 0 outs (a considerable amount of time we have guys at 2nd and 3rd no outs and CANNOT score). I'm sure you'll tell me it's entirely the players' doing. Bulls***. It's been like this for years now and it's getting old. SOMEONE needs to get this through to these players; apparently Walker isn't doing it. It's not like I'm making this s*** up. I do not understand this common mentality on this board with people arguing around an argument. So basically you are convinced Walker is the best possible hitting coach we could have right now, correct? I don't know why I even bother. Always lazy excuses; never an intelligent, thought-provoking argument. Seriously though...Chuck Norris was awesome! Right?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 12:32 PM) Or a genius like you will come in and shed light on it and make me appreciate that scene even more. Aww...shucks....
-
Oh...I thought announced the name of the next James Bond movie.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 11:18 AM) He just likes weird shots sometimes... at least in that instance... I think. Some film student will come up with a reasoning, though.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 04:57 PM) Megan Fox is the new Catwoman. No she isnt. Stupid tabloid rumor that fluff tv shows pick-up. Nolan hasn't even written the next Batman film yet. Also, he has proven he likes great actors to be in his films. Not names.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 08:32 AM) Ribbie FTW If not for bringing up Chuck Norris, but also for making me remember how awesomely bad that movie was. I loved the scene where CN broke the water bottle so he could cut the ropes that were binding him, and Louis Gossett Jr b****ed about it for the entire scene. Roger Ebert's review of this movie made me love him as a reviewer and as a great writer. He hated it and his review is awesome! http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.d.../611210303/1023

I love that movie!!! Awesome idea for a thread! Norris and Gossett play Max Donigan and Leo Porter, two soldiers of fortune, whose adventures seem to almost never result in any notable gain, are befriended by an inscrutable woman of mystery Patricia (Melody Anderson). Patricia's map leads them on a quest for treasure in Central America. The name of the movie comes from the powerful guardian of the treasure. Who we never see walk on fire though. This movie is famous for a fight scene in which Norris singlehandedly defeats almost every male customer in a Mexican bar and destroys the bar in the process. What other bad 80s action flicks can we discuss as well? How about Mega Force!?!

Important Quotes from KW and AJP

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 01:31 PM) Everyone knows whats at stake. For guys like Pods, Thome and Dye- this may be their final run with us. The time is now for them to step up. In 2004 when we fell short of the playoffs, KW used his imagination to the extreme! Let Maggs and Valentin walk via free agency. Trade Lee for Pods, Vizciano. Sign Dye, El-duque, AJ, Hermanson and Iguchi. And prior to 2004 ending KW aqcuired Contreras, Everett and Garcia via midseason trades. This year KW aqcuired Peavy, Rios and Pena via midseason trades. Will he let Dye, Thome, Dotel and Contreras walk via free agency? What big name will he trade similar to Lee? What free agents will he sign? Maybe missing the playoffs in 2009 (although would suck) maybe a blessing in disguise. I have been saying this for awhile...the similarities are amazing between this year and 2004. -
"They (opposing team) put up a big crooked number...and we'll be back." "AJ has played the same way since High School..." On a ground ball to the pitcher: "Take you time, take your time..."

If the runner crosses home plate before the runner at second is called out, then yes the run does count. We just saw a version of this over the weekend when, I believe, Carlos was called out at third after a hit by AJ. Thome was at second but did not cross the plate before Carlos was tagged. So the run did not count.
