QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 01:15 PM) Others blamed hit movies like Juno and Knocked Up for glamorizing young unwed mothers. In a related story, the increased violence among animals in the local zoo has been blamed on the film "Kung Fu Panda" -
Yes sir!

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 13, 2008 -> 05:36 PM) oh do share the story of you guys meeting He was giving a speech here in Chicago and it was at the Theatre where I used to work. Since I was Managing Director of the theatre ( and he was a VIP) I made sure the green room was ready, etc...Well, he walked in with a couple people. I introduced myself and said if he needed anything let us know. He told me I didn't have to leave and invited me to sit down. We chatted briefly about politics ( this was 2006). I told him Obama was recently here speaking also. He said that Obama might be a force in 2008, he can electrify a crowd. But what I really enjoyed is he asked me if I had a son and talked a lot more about being fathers. When I hear the people on NBC talk about that same thing and how much family meant to him...I can feel that too. He was one of a kind. There was no difference between him off-screen and on. I am sad.

I am heartbroken. I had the sincere please of meeting Mr Russert and speaking with him one on one. There are few men today who can be called Giants in their Industry. He was a Giant. Full of Honesty, integrity and heart. This upcoming election, as historic as it may be, will be somewhat melancholy without Tim and his whiteboard giving us the unbiased truth. RIP

Hmmm. This gets even more interesting. In 2002, when the alleged "fix" of the Lakers/Kings series occured, it was broadcast on NBC. At that time Tim Donaghy's cousin, Jack, was inventing the Trivection Oven for GE, the parent company of...wait for it...NBC!!!!!! He was then promoted to Vice President of East Coast Television and Microwave Oven Programming. Hmmmm...

QUOTE (frahungski @ Jun 7, 2008 -> 07:57 PM) Guys and gals, I haven't been around here for a while, but I saw this poll and am ashamed to say that we're losing. A few years ago we were able to get Podsednik to the ASG and, while this may not be so important, we can definitely win this poll as well. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/983402,hotfans060308.article Do you know who cares about this??? Cub fans. This and attendance.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 03:48 PM) Holey moley. I think I can see the hotel balcony where my second child was conceived. . . We had to make due with the the balcony, since child number one was asleep in the room. Yeah, that's right. I'm a SCREAMER! And let that be a lesson to all you highschoolers who have been told you can't get anybody pregnant if you're standing up. Ewww...I had breakfast on the balcony!

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 02:00 PM) As fans what fish should we be frying exactly? What resources are we wasting on supporting Quentin's All-Star bid that we could be allocating eleewhere? I'm always putting off that cure for cancer or helping Jim Thome with his swing... Man, I am wasting my time.
-
QUOTE (watchtower41 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 01:53 PM) It's not like I am bashing CQ. There are bigger fish to fry. Nobody asks the negative poster's about Contreras being washed up or claiming Thome should be released what is the use of them being a fan. If being a baseball fan is all about supporting marketing for your team, then I bought season tickets for the wrong sport. I'm not sure anybody would want to be Brooks right now with all the negative comments coming from the media about our marketing campaign. I still wish you would answer my question. What else would you have fans doing? What are our other fish that need frying? What are you even talking about?!?
-
QUOTE (watchtower41 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 01:03 PM) Lol, a lot of people on this board seem to think the success of the season will be based on wheter or not Quentin will get to go to the All-Star game. It's not a big deal people. Who said that? Please provide link. I don't think anyone here said that. Success to us is another Championship. But we support our players in anyway possible. You see we are...oh what's the word...fans. QUOTE (watchtower41 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 01:03 PM) It's a popularity contest, and yes we can all agree CQ deserves to be there... makeing that the number 1 priority right now is going a bit overboard imo. I'm glad I'm not Brooks either, our new commericals are downright awful, our promotions this year are absurd. Who is making it the Number one priority? Marketing? THAT'S THEIR JOB! To promote the players and the team. You would have been fired from marketing and promotions for telling Jerry that it isn't a priority.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 12:22 PM) I really hope that a miracle happens and we get it. The event would do wonders for the development in this city, especially with public transportation. Of course our real estate market would be a nice bonus. My wife and I already decided we would rent our house out for the time and head on down to Disney! Unless I can score some tix to Female Beach Volleyball...
