QUOTE(earthshiner @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 07:58 PM) I had this thought today actually. The '06 Tigers mirrored the '05 Sox so why not. I can think of a couple reasons that statement is false. We won the Division, going wire to wire in 1st Place...they didn't. We won the World Series...they didn't. But other than those small items...yeah, basically just like us.

First, we saw the Simpsons Movie on Friday morning and laughed our asses off!! We saw it again on Sunday. Laughed just as much. My son loved it too...both times. He is 8 and loves the Simpsons...quotes them as much as us. Yes...we are bad parents. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 08:44 AM) Turns out Michelangelo Antonioni died yesterday as well. I think his stuff is visually stunning even if the plots were a little thin. Blowup is quite a good film. RIP RIP...A great filmmaker, too. Here is Roger Ebert's eloquent piece on his passing http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.d...PEOPLE/70731004

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 01:32 PM) Mr. Bergman deserves his own thread. I concur

He was one of the great artists of cinema. A true master. Along with Fellini and Kurosawa, he made film the great art-form of the 20th Century. Now he is gone, also. If you have never seen one of his films, you owe it to yourself to see just one. See how film can wield such power and emotion. http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/Movies/07/...ergman.obit.ap/

QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 12:11 PM) America is infatuated with celebs because we are sheeple. Americans are more likely to name 10 Simpsons Characters rather than 10 amendments. Sad really, but what can you do but live your own life. Britain is equally obsessed, if not more. It's just the age we live in. -

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 10:53 AM) The bottle was light green almost aqua. It was Georgio something or other. He tossed it. Also, Jim wouldn't be caught dead wearing that Polo s***. It smelled like Robatussin. :puke I can't afford that...I prefer to wear Wal-Tussin.

May I recommended Sex Panther by Odeon? It's illegal in nine countries... Yep, it's made with bits of real panther, so you know it's good. They've done studies, you know. Sixty percent of the time, it works every time.

Fields = a cheaper Crede with no back problems
RibbieRubarb replied to Hideaway Lights's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 01:18 AM) On another note, I've been very impressed with Fields' discipline at the plate. The pitches he swings at are generally good pitches. Maybe I'm wrong here, but it's rare to see him swing at a slider in the dirt. This is an ecellent point. One of the best ways to judge a younger hitter is to see what sort of "baseball eye" they have. Fields will be a solid hitter. -
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 04:08 PM) right, first...I never said that this "kid" didn't do anything wrong, and for the record, she is a kid if she's acting like this. There are 10 year old kids, there are 20 year old kids and there are 40 year old kids, etc. Age has little to do with it. Um QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 01:58 PM) The kids didn't do anything wrong.

QUOTE(TheOcho @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 03:09 PM) I think that's one of the big things. It took Crede multiple years to break away from his long swing and finally have a good year. Fields k's alot but his swing seems shorter and quicker. I like him alot. Really? In Joe's first stint with the Sox in 2002 he hit .285 with 12hrs and 35 rbis in 53 games. In Josh's first 43 games he has hit .255 7 hrs and 26 rbis. Just so you know -

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 01:58 PM) I disagree. Stupid people should be shot. The kids didn't do anything wrong. First she's 21 years old. She is not a "kid" Second, drunk driving, possession of cocaine...etc. That is plenty wrong. She made these choices. She has said on Oprah, etc that "she is young and wants to have a good time" . This is the lifestyle she has choosen without any guidence from her parents who in some regards have encouraged her in this direction.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 12:09 PM) And apparently also speeding, wreckless driving, resisting arrest, and she also apparently had made threats to her former assistant which is what started all the drama a few hours earlier. 180 days in county might be a nice wake up call - though realistically she'll get more like 90 probably. It is sad when someone who is obviously talented and given so much at an early age chooses this lifestyle. But for every Lindsay Lohan, there is a Natalie Portman. The deciding factor always seems to be the parents...and we all know Lindsay's mon and dad.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 10:00 AM) Kenny hates - and that's putting it nicely - Himes. One positive about all this is that Kenny kept his mouth and didn't erupt in the media. Rick has been the dream GM for many for years. I'm fine with that also. So is Dave Wilder. Many teams have been asking to talk to him.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 04:09 PM) duh looking for more substance "We must live", says the pastor in Igmar Bergman's Winter Light to a man contemplating suicide. "WHY must we live?" retorts the man. This question occupies a central place in the art and life of White Sox baseball, as indeed it should in the life of every human being. In answer to this question, the pastor in Winter Light says nothing and lowers his eyes, indicating in this way the impotence of faith to supply the answer to this most important question. The insistence on asking such simple, yet disquieting questions, which demand introspection and self-examination, is arguably the most valuable quality of Bergman's filmmaking. The questions are on a child's level - Why must we live? Who are we? Is there a God? - but as grown-ups many believe that they have already found the answers to them. It is only at the approach of death that such people begin to concern themselves once more with these questions. For we may find answers in the simple game of White Sox baseball...Thats why I still watch.
