QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 10:09 AM) After only 3 years of hounding him to keep his yap shut he's finally getting it.. I'm waiting for E! to do a True Hollywood Story on the White Sox.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 10:00 AM) Kenny hates - and that's putting it nicely - Himes. One positive about all this is that Kenny kept his mouth and didn't erupt in the media. Rick has been the dream GM for many for years. I'm fine with that also. So is Dave Wilder. Many teams have been asking to talk to him.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 04:09 PM) duh looking for more substance "We must live", says the pastor in Igmar Bergman's Winter Light to a man contemplating suicide. "WHY must we live?" retorts the man. This question occupies a central place in the art and life of White Sox baseball, as indeed it should in the life of every human being. In answer to this question, the pastor in Winter Light says nothing and lowers his eyes, indicating in this way the impotence of faith to supply the answer to this most important question. The insistence on asking such simple, yet disquieting questions, which demand introspection and self-examination, is arguably the most valuable quality of Bergman's filmmaking. The questions are on a child's level - Why must we live? Who are we? Is there a God? - but as grown-ups many believe that they have already found the answers to them. It is only at the approach of death that such people begin to concern themselves once more with these questions. For we may find answers in the simple game of White Sox baseball...Thats why I still watch.

The .198 Hinske overshift, Ozzie's brilliance at work
RibbieRubarb replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 04:11 PM) So you're saying pretty much that it didn't matter what the hell Ozzie did, the game was over anyways. If that's the case, why doesn't Ozzie just have the White Sox players come off the field when they get down by three or more runs at any time the rest of the season? Hell, Ozzie can just have a little fun -- let's put Contreras in CF, Jenks at SS and Buehrle behind homeplate. Just so we have this clear, everybody -- from now on, Ozzie gets a pass on ANY decision made when the Sox are down by more than one run. Apparently I was wrong in thinking that the manager's job was to put make decisions that gives his team the best possible shot at winning. You know what I find very funny? The fact that it's clockwork that people like you come into threads like this and never, EVER defend Ozzie's decisions. In fact -- it's very ironic that you're the one saying that other people are stirring the pot. What do you do? You come into these threads and throw s*** at other people. Have you ever actually tried to put up an argument relevant to Ozzie's decision-making? No -- you come in here and just point the finger at the people who are calling out Ozzie on the (stupid) moves he makes. And when it comes to these threads taling about individual moves in individual games, what do you do? Bring up irrelevant bulls***. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. EDIT: The only person who actually came in and put up a decent defense for the Ozzie shift was TLAK. And I've seen absolutely nothing for leaving in Contreras for the 8th. I will defend Ozzie's decisions, if I feel the need to defend them. But thank you for telling me how I should post. My posts pertain to the extreme negativity towards Ozzie. And by extreme I mean EXTREME. "Worst manager in any sport, ever!" Please. That is an insane and silly post. Does Ozzie make stupid moves...uh yeah. But what I find even more silly is a certain poster who main agenda is to have 20/20 hindsight every time a move backfires and claim superiority over Ozzie and then post. That I find silly, also. I find it stupid to start an argument with other posters in your first post in a thread like he did in this one. What did he hope to accomplish? A reasonable and intellegent discussion? No likely. This is what he wanted. There are a lot of great posters on this site who dislike Ozzie. I respect their posts and agree with what they say. Not here. As for me being irrelevant. You are wrong... This is an irrelevant. -

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2007 -> 09:57 PM) Finally, Its one thing to start a thread about a bad call in a game, and it is quite another to be begging someone to argue with you. Its even worse to already be claiming to be the victim when you start a new thread. The whole "poor me" routine is so old, it isn't even funny. That's where I disagree with you... They are VERY FUNNY. You see its all an attention getting act. Stir the pot...hope for an argument. He's kind of like Andy Kaufman without all that talent getting in the way. This is why I'm positive its an act. He can't be serious with this statement: -

QUOTE(juddling @ Jul 18, 2007 -> 12:39 PM) Laugh Factory owner Jamie Masada, who witnessed the assault, said, "Jon picked Andy up by the head and smashed him into the bar four or five times, and blood started pouring out of his nose." Lovitz told Page Six, "All the comedians are glad I did it because this guy is a [bleep]hole." During the assault, Andy's friends...uh...Ninjas, yeah. They came up behind Lovitz, but Jon ripped their hearts out one by one. He gave the last beating heart to his wife...Morgan Fairchild as an anniversary gift. Yeah...that's the ticket!

QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 13, 2007 -> 05:24 PM) I'm worried about the number of young women today who can't cook and clean. I'm tired of wasting my time dating girls who can't keep a house. Bring back home ec as a mandatory class for high school females in place of their science and math classes. Don't need to know geometry to bake me a cake. WELCOME TIME-TRAVELER!!! Hey welcome to 2007!! Just so you are not disoriented, let me inform you of the wonderful advances made in equal rights and the destruction of ignorance... What? You're not interested? Well, then get back in your time machine go back to 1900 before women could vote so you can live in peace or you could stay here, become smarter and learn to cook and clean for yourself like other, real men...so you don't starve or live in squalor. Enjoy you stay!

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Jul 11, 2007 -> 02:09 PM) is there a "hot chicks" room? sub question: have the hot chicks been updated since 1997? Thanks, I'll hang up and listen to the answer. I thought I didn't need a hot chicks room, but then I thought...I said the same thing about the microwave, and we use that darned thing all the time. Disclaimer: This is not a "sexy" chicks room.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 03:17 PM) Ya, he is no longer in the Sox system. IIRC he was a catcher while in the Sox system and they looked quite a bit alike. For awhile they switches places so the older Carlos could see what it's like living like a regular person and the younger Carlos could see what its like living like a rich British teenager. It was wacky and funny.
