  1. QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 03:23 PM) No Wave? That would be heaven...
  2. In the NBA and NHL, you don't have to be an All-Star to participate in skills competitions. So I see no problem here.
  3. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 02:00 PM) Don't forget the shorter bathroom lines.. Maybe I'll have the upper deck to myself again when I re-up
  4. To answer your question...yes the White Sox would make the playoffs because the respective fans of those teams would riot and burn their stadiums down at the sheer absurdity of those deals. The teams would have to forfeit the rest of the season and the Sox would be in the playoffs. But why stop there?? Why not offer Lance Broadway for Jake Peavy, Tadahito Iguchi for A-Rod and Jim Thome for the Lost Ark of the Covenant? Then we would be unstoppable!!!
  5. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 11:40 AM) They can also try Robin - who they actually didn't try to nickel and dime, but rather did nothing. Ozzie, also if they want to get picky. Exactly... Robin is the only one I could think of that was healthy, productive and a free agent. So ONE player in the 20+ years of ownership does not make a trend as Drew was quick to say.
  6. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 11:31 AM) How about Frank Thomas? Or Magglio Ordonez? Really? Considering the injuries they both sustained in their contract year?
  7. QUOTE(Drew @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 12:49 AM) Ridiculous. Nickel-and-diming your franchise player out of town. Can't say I haven't seen Reinsdorf do this before, though. Still waiting for some names. You just can't make a disparaging claim and not back it up.
  8. QUOTE(Drew @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 12:49 AM) Ridiculous. Nickel-and-diming your franchise player out of town. Can't say I haven't seen Reinsdorf do this before, though. Who?
  9. We saw Ratatouille this weekend...what a beautifully made movie. One of the best films of the year. We were so hungry afterwards we had to get French food. We went to Cyrano's on Wells. Wonderful. Anyway... This is not your expected animated fare full of recent pop culture jokes and big name stars phoning in voice over performances. In fact, two of the main characters in the movie are voiced by middle-level Pixar employees and they are perfect. The visuals in this film are breathtaking. The longshots of Paris are like postcards. The street scenes filled will fog and light add the romance of the city and the story. The food...wow. I have never seen animated food look so delicious. You could smell the kitchen. The characters and the film's message are refreshingly not spoon-fed to you. This is an intelligent script that doesn't talk down to the kids or to the adults. Don't think kids won't enjoy that. My son is 8 and he loved every second of it. There will be talk about it's opening weekend and how it's lower than other Pixar films. Don't let this discourage you. This film, unlike the other Summer fare, is original, funny and touching and will have the legs to last the summer. Spread the good word and go see it! BTW, the short before the film is called "Lifted" and it is hysterical!!!
  10. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 03:37 PM) I'm not living in the past. I refuse to support JR while he is still owner of the Bulls, how is that living in the past? I didn't agree with what he did and that's it. Right...and the same ownership and management are running the White Sox since 2005... But we are living in the past. Answer me this...How does one eat when they are speaking from both sides of their mouth?
  11. This is an excellent site if you are thinking about buying a camera http://www.dcresource.com/
  12. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 03:28 PM) Snap, snap, snap. Oh I went there!
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 03:20 PM) I'm safe to meet up with. I've put only 3 posters from here in the hospital. But it was worth it!
  14. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 03:22 PM) My anger towards KW is not only directed at him. I understand he represents JR and the Board, believe me I have anger towrds them as well. To this day I refuse to support the Bulls or anything related to the Bulls after JR dismantled that team and chased away MJ and Phil. So my anger is not only against KW. The way they do business by not signing pitchers to long term deals, which 4 years to me isn't long to begin with, their not signing big name free agents, isn't a good strategy. Especially being in a big market. That's just the way I look at it. Stop living in the past. The past is for cowards!
  15. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 03:14 PM) Good grief... not only was I crying from before the start of game 1... I think I was still a bit weapy at the parade. I'm with you. I don't think I will ever be over it. But that makes us cowards... I wish I was jaded like the brave few...but I'm not.
  16. I didn't visit the one listed here, but every 7-11 is selling Simpsons products. I picked up some Krusty-Os and Buzz cola today. http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainmen...1,6979365.story
  17. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 03:04 PM) Don't try to paint me as a fair weather fan cause I'm not. Never have been and never will be. If anything I'm too passionate about this team. I dismissed it as Blah blah blah, cause I know the argument I am gonna get from people when I argue about KW and why I don't believe he is a good GM. No one was happier we won in 05, but that was 2 years ago, and I'm over that. I still have good memories, but I don't live in the past, that's for cowards. So for you to say I said the title was meaningless, you are puuting words in chief. It meant so much to you, but you're over it a year and half later....ok I will NEVER be over that...or macho grande.
  18. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 03:01 PM) Mark is an excellent pitcher. He is not an ace outside of the CWS. I understand your feelings, but unless you step outside of the box you will never be able to look at the stuation objectively. Agree. I agree, because whatever he stepped on in the box is showing up in his posts.
  19. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 02:28 PM) Winning a world series doesn't make you great. In Kenny's case it makes you lucky!!! So, just to be clear...Kenny was lucky in 2005 but is completely to blame in 2007. You're a loser in second place, but lucky if you win a World Series. Got it. It's like a watching a dog chasing his tail reading your posts.
  20. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 02:20 PM) Obviously at the beginning of the season it's every teams goal to win the world series. Obviously only one can. I believe that a GM should be based upon not just winning games but winning divisions and playoff appearances. Just because KW won a World series doesn't make him a good Gm. During his tenure Kenny Williams has never had a losing season. Thats pretty good in comparison to the other names you mentioned who had many seasons in their first years under .500. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 02:20 PM) Just because KW won a World series doesn't make him a good Gm. He has won 1 year in the 7 he has been here. Sure that one has resulted in the first World series Championship in 88 years for the city, blah blah blah. Blah, blah, blah??? The title was that meaningless to you? That quote really is the epitome of a fair-weather fan. I'm sure the most hardened pessimist on this board would never dimiss our 2005 season as Blah, blah,blah. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 02:20 PM) You listen to any knowlegable baseball fan and they will tell you, you lock up good starting pitching, that's where it all starts. And he refuses to do that. But yet he will give JC a 3 year deal with the 1st year a NTC. Where is the logic in that?? I missed the press release where Kenny refused to do that? Nice of you to make that up, though. As for JC, he got a ONE YEAR NTC!!!! Not for the entire length of his deal, which is what Mark wants. It's been reported that Kenny has countered with that or a limited no-trade clause ala Paul. I will agree it's hard to find logic when you don't use the facts in your argument.
  21. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 01:50 PM) A losers mentality to you is making the playoffs and not winning a game?? So not making the playoffs and being happy that you won 90 games though isn't a losers mentality?? You lost me bro. You totally lost me. At the beginning of the season the goal is to win a Championship. If you ask a player how you do that, he will tell you, we have to get in the playoffs first, and then see what happens. Sort of like we did in 2005. So taking what you say, if we would have choked away the division in 05 and not made the playoffs, we still would have been winners, but if we would have made the playoffs and lost you would have preferred that?? WOW!!! I don't get that at all. You say the Championship is the main goal??? But, in another thread you said several GMs were better than Kenny even though they never won a World Series. Which is it?
  22. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 12:46 PM) But I will answer your question. John Schuerholz Terry Ryan Dave Dombrowski Walt Jocketty Bob Melvin Omar Minaya Theo Epstein Mark Shapiro Billy Beane Now I am sure I will get the argument from you that most of then have never won a World series, but in my opinion they are better overall GM's. Um...sorry to inform you, but winning the World Series does make Kenny a great GM. Ask Billy Beane. What have Omar Minaya or Doug Melvin (who is so good, you didn't know his name) done better than Kenny? NOTHING. You are too biased to see straight.
  23. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 12:31 PM) KW is a stupid a** f***ing idiot who doesn't know s***. That is all you need to f***ing know. I'm sure that's not exact, but I'd bet high it's close.
  24. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 11:40 AM) I have more faith that there will be peace in the middle east, than I do with KW selling off our players and building a team that will compete in the fututre. This will go down as our Greg Maddux, but oh I forgot "WE ARE CHICAGO BASEBALL" Yeah those trades he made, with major pieces of the team, in 2003 and 2004 really bit us in the ass. But I can see why you wouldn't have any faith...KW has no history of winning.
  25. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 11:29 AM) Oh, I know. I just wanted to make it clear for J-MAN since from his post it seemed he didn't see it the previous times I stated it. LOL.. I guess I can be mocked since I continue to pay Thats why I stopped paying...So I can no longer be mocked.
