  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 15, 2007 -> 12:00 PM) Why do I get the feeling in an effort to get the next Liriano, we are going to be getting the next Lemon? Chet or Liz? (for 30 Rock fans only)
  2. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Feb 15, 2007 -> 10:06 AM) He should worry more about situational hitting more than having a bunt of guys bunt. Bunting should be covered in ST and most major leaguers should be good at it, especially if you are not a big bopper. But really it wasnt the bunting that was our small ball failure last year, it was our situational hitting late in games after the allstar break. How many times late in games did we have a man in scoring position when a single, or hitting to the right side to advance the runner to third would of done the trick. Ozzie loves bunting, but bunting is only one small aspect of small ball. I would rather that some of our hitter practice sitting back on the ball, or work on their batters eye for taking a pitch. I think Ozzie understands that. The article was just addressing that they have a special area set-up for bunting. I'm sure they'll address situational hitting, also.

    The Office

Tonight's episode is directed by Joss Whedon. Very cool.
  4. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Feb 15, 2007 -> 10:50 AM) I really have no problem with what he said.....its his right as a citizen. You have no problem with rhetoric that is filled with such hatred?!? I'm sorry but his "rights as a citizen" in NO WAY condones and excuses his actions. Its about time we stop using that as an excuse. It is HATE speech. Pure and Simple. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Feb 15, 2007 -> 10:58 AM) yes you can, but than don't expect athletes to tell the truth in the future, if you want to truth.... its ok to disagree with what someone says but to villify them for their personal beliefs just is going to get athletes in the future to either lie about it or say no comment. Please do not dilute his comments. There is a strong difference in "personal beliefs" and what he said. He didn't say he liked the Rolling Stones over the Beatles. He didn't say he was Catholic and not a Baptist. He said "I HATE GAYS" Thats not a perosnal belief...that outright hatred.
  5. QUOTE(spawn @ Feb 15, 2007 -> 08:59 AM) I don't agree with, nor condone what Haradway had to say. It was nasty, mean, bigoted, etc. But I would've had more respect for him if he hadn't apologized. At least he spoke the truth. He wasn't PC, nor sugarcoated his response. His remarks showed why professional athletes don't "out" themselves until after they've retired. And his apology really wasn't an apology. The only thing he apologized for was making the remarks, not that what he said wasn't how he really felt. If you're going to make comments like the ones he made, you need to be ready for the backlash you will receive. This is not an excuse! Hate-filled speech on any subject cannot be sanatized by wrapping and cleaning itself in the "Non-PC, Just Speaking his Mind" towel. Chris Rock can be Politically Incorrect. Stephen Colbert, Bill Maher, Dennis Miller...even some pundits can be non-PC. You cannot deflect the seriousness of one's hate-filled rants by playing the "He spoke his mind. He's entitiled to his own thoughts" card There is no respect for him, or for what he said, regardless of his apology.
  6. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 14, 2007 -> 07:58 AM) Yea, on national tv. Hopefully, Jim isn't as stupid as that thought. Why? Thats where I take all my mistresses...
  7. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Feb 14, 2007 -> 05:39 AM) If Zito is worth $18 Mil, Zambrano has to worth $20 mil. Without his domination of the White Sox factored in, Zito stats are not nearly as good. Zito has a Cy Young and more playoff experience. That gives him more leverage in $$$.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 07:03 AM) Here is your challenge, should you actually choose to accept it. Find me ONE year where the White Sox organization made profits, and the team did not see a corresponding increase in payroll for the next season. Yes, I am calling you to the matt. Put up or shut up. I want proof. Meow...this kitten has claws!

  11. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 11:15 AM) He is so whipped. If he used his name to get tickets, he's even more whipped. If it was his idea, there is no hope. Yep! Any guy whose wife drags him to the Oprah show is beyond whipped! um...I saw Bono on Oprah
  12. Perez has hit lefties very well over his career. But let's look at last year: In 18 at bats last year he hit .273 with 2 hrs and an OPS of 1.152 against Johan Santana. In 10 at bats last year he hit .400 with 1 hr and an OPS of 1.200 against Cliff Lee In 3 at bats last year he hit .333 against CC Sabathia In 24 at bats last year he hit .250 with 1 hr and an OBP of .379 & OPS of .754 against Kenny Rogers In 9 at bats last year he hit .667 with 1 hr and an OPS of 1.838 against Nate Robertson I can see why Kenny picked him up.
