QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 09:50 AM) He is 0 for his last 19. It feels like every game he plays, we lose. We are actually at .500 when he plays in a game. 13-13

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 09:11 AM) heres another reason Im worried about this series. The SOX needed to shave a game or 2 off the lead BEFORE getting to Detroit. The Tigers playing the SOX with just a 1/2 game lead wouldve had them NERVOUS and looking over their shoulders. Unfortuneately, the SOX had other ideas and now the Tiggers have a 4 1/2 game lead and are playing CONFIDENT and with MOMENTUM (I said momentum, heh heh) The Tiggers will play loose now that they have a lead, knowing that us sweeping them will still have them with the lead Heck, even if we take 2 of 3, we only take 1 game off of the lead. Wait...wait wait... The Sox had other ideas? They wanted to lose? Plus, a sweep of the Tigers will have no effect on them?!? :headshake

QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 03:25 PM) Im in Rally Crede in '08 '08?!?!? The Rally Crede tells Washington when the elections are...it doesn't wait for them. Rally Crede in '06!!!

Please be aware that Detroit's pitching also hasn't been at top form since the break. Besides Verlander shutting out KC on Saturday, Bonderman gave up 4 quick runs on Thursday and didn't have any control, Rogers gave up 5 runs in 4 innings and Zumaya gave up 3 runs in one innings on Friday and well the staff gave up 9 runs on Sunday, including star rookie Miner. All this against KC.

QUOTE(POPPY_HIDALGO @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 10:12 AM) This is sad and lame. :sleep

The Rally Crede doesn't need a bat to hit a home run! He uses his mighty forearms to scare the ball over the LF wall! Hail the Rally Crede!!!

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 05:35 PM) My comment was made towards the general idea that everything will solve itself, not at anyone in particular. I'm not about to start arguing back and forth personally to cause the entire thread to be closed. It's cool. Thats not how it came out. But I see your point.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 03:58 PM) I'm not gonna get in a personal argument over the fact that our starters are horses***. Yet, you told the rest of us to put our collective heads back in the sand?

White Sox scouting Chris Burke of the Astros?
RibbieRubarb replied to RibbieRubarb's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 05:58 PM) Me likey, I've always had a soft spot for Chris Burke. The guy is only 26 I believe and plays all 3 outfield positions plus middle infield. He'd be incredibly valuable off the bench as a 4th OF and right handed pinch hitter which is something we don't have. Looking back, it never occured to me that Pablo is our only RH pinch hitter of the bench with such versitility. If he is picked up, who would be shut out? Gload? -

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) You better believe it does. I think I'm gonna check airfare for tomorrow... I'm sure the Yankees will fly him out, Steff. No need for you to handle it.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 04:33 PM) How would you pronounce that name? He's drunk, leave him alone.

I'm reminded of that SNL skit when Deion Sanders hosted. It was the ESPYs and when he won he got up all excited and said: "You know I thought I had it all when I won The Super Bowl! But now I got an ESPY!!! Yeah!!!" I agree. Who cares.

I agree... Weird.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 01:45 PM) That's cool. What do you think about this statement, though: This is pretty much the basis of my argument. Once in a great while, guys can just step in and establish themselves as all-time greats right off the bat. Barry Sanders, Jerry Rice, Hakeem Olajuwon, Lebron James, Magic Johnson, Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, etc. Just a few names that come to mind. I agree. Right now they are dominating. But I am not chiseling their names into History until they accomplish more. See Mark Prior for recent premature enshrinement.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) No way, dude! I just said that they are arguably a Top 5 duo since 1950, but they would round out that list. Koufax/Drysdale is probably the best duo in the 140+ year history of the game. Plank/Ruffing is the only duo that would come close IMO. Basically, Santana and Liriano are the two best SPs in the game right now, and they are both in the same rotation. When is the last time something like that happened? Forget about the AL triple crown (ERA/WHIP/BAA). These guys are gonna go heads up for the MLB triple crown, and Santana will end up leading the league in Ks. Barring injuries, they'll could go down as the best duo since Koufax/Drysdale. It's not that outlandish. I'm sure that people were saying the same thing about Roger Clemens in 1986. Then again, Doc Gooden was also supposed to become an all-time great, but cocaine is one hell of a drug. Or was he smoking crack? Ahh, same difference. A top five duo since 1950? Based on a half a season? Sorry. no.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 12:10 PM) http://www.wftv.com/news/9512126/detail.html Gandolfini's Surgery Delays 'Sopranos' Final Season POSTED: 12:43 pm EDT July 13, 2006 PASADENA, Calif. -- Sorry "Sopranos" fans, but you're going to have to wait -- again. But you can blame James Gandolfini's "unexpected knee surgery" for a delay in "The Sopranos" schedule. So, instead of the final episodes returning in January, they'll probably start running the beginning of March. HBO said the surgery threw things off for a couple of weeks. Then, it realized the delay would put the show in the middle of football playoffs and the Superbowl. So, HBO's just waiting until football's finished for the new episodes to start. A couple of months ago, Gandolfini's scooter collided with a taxi. Gandolfini walked away from that accident, so it's not known if it had anything to do with his knee surgery. The image of Tony Soprano on a scooter...For shame Mr Gandolfini :headshake

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 11:59 AM) If a guy doesn't prove himself, he shouldn't be talked about. Tyler Lumsden has a pretty good arm down in the Sox minor league system, but I'm not ready to proclaim him as the next Steve Carlton, largely because he has not proven himself. The reason I am saying that Liriano is better is because he has proven himself to me. I have seen him pitch quite often, and the guy is truly, flat out, amazing. I have seen Santana pitch quite often too, but Liriano just looks better to me. Better stuff, not quite the control of Santana, but he is full of confidence, and he has the composure of a veteran pitcher. I've never seen a player period come out of the minors and be more MLB ready than Liriano is. He is a freak. So yes, it makes sense No one ever said he couldn't be talked about. I don't think he should be talked about with the same reverence as the other HOF pitchers that have been tossed out. What exactly has he proven? He has never pitched a full season. He has never pitched in a playoff game. He has never pitched in a World Series game. And for someone to say that Liriano/Santana is better than Koufax/Drysdale, Seaver/Ryan, or even Johnson/Schilling in their prime is too extreme and outlandish for my sports sensibilities.

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 07:58 AM) I love the one where the AJ is ripping on the Media for always printing negative stuff about him, HAHAHAHHAA Yep that evil media is everywhere, isn't it?
-
QUOTE(KeithFranklin @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 10:28 AM) I swear why does MLB even require Liriano to pitch anymore. If a team is unlucky enough to face him it should be an automatic loss. Because he can lose. And he will.
