  1. QUOTE(Reddy @ May 8, 2006 -> 10:26 AM) man this threads like a slap in the face. but what do i expect from beer guzzling, bears loving, macho men like y'selves. lol anyway - being a theatre major, and a singer, i'll give y'all my take for the helluvit. the problem comes if you go in expecting it to suck - or wanting it to. then, of course, there will be lots of things you can rip apart. But if you go in to it just wanting to have fun and enjoy yourself - you wont be dissappointed. Spelling Bee - i actually auditioned for this, but i'm too young, dont fit the roles. see they're all supposed to be like 30 year olds playing 10 year olds - pretty funny. anyway, i've never seen it but i have the soundtrack. it's HILARIOUS. you should have a great time (again, go in expecting to have fun and you will). Spelling bee is very much musically in the vein of Avenue Q (which i have beef with because it beat out Wicked for best original score.... come on now, all the music is just stolen from sesame street) ok enough of that... hope you enjoy spelling bee Actually I am heavily involved in Theatre. I am the Producing Director at a Theatre in Chicago. In addition, I am also an Actor. I did not go into Wicked looking for it to suck, in fact I saw the show on Broadway. it never resonated with me. I look past the spectacle. Spelling Bee I am really looking forward to also, plus I have a couple freinds in the cast.
  2. I did not entirely enjoy WICKED. While there were some nice moments, I wasn't overly impressed with the musical. The music, itself, was okay. Only one song stood out, Defying Gravity. The others were forgettable. I will be seeing "Spelling Bee" in a couple of weeks. I'll let you know then what I thought.
  3. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ May 7, 2006 -> 11:32 PM) Aside from the first episode, I think this season has been pretty boring. I hope the last few episodes pick it up. I disagree whole-heartedly. As for last night's episode, I was enthralled with the scenes between Tony and Chris. The flashback scene alone might have garnered Michael Imperioli another Emmy. For those who have been following this thread's analysis of the first few episodes, did you notice Paulie watching the wind flowing through the trees ala Tony?
  4. Truth be told that 38,000 of those posts are just "copy & paste" links from Yahoo! news. Congrats! Here's an interesting fact... If Mike had a penny for every post, he'd have over 40,000 pennies!
  5. This trailer has gotten me very excitied about this film. Bryan Singer is an excellent director and his concept on making this film a continuation of the first two Superman films is a wonderful one! Check out a brief glimpse of Brando. http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/supermanreturns/trailer2/
  6. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ May 2, 2006 -> 09:45 AM) agreed but this is the indians, these games matter. Which games don't matter??
  7. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ May 2, 2006 -> 09:28 AM) Why does ozzie always do this?? Because it wins us World Championships?
  8. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 2, 2006 -> 06:42 AM) Yeah, Ozzie didnt bring Hermanson in to close a game( i cant remember if the Sox blew the game or not) and Brantley dwelled on it for two segments on BBTN. Ozzie got pissed and ranted about it, and the next time Brantley was in town he went to smooth things over. He extended his hand, and IIRC, Ozzie just looked at it and didnt shake it. Thanks!
  9. Wasn't there a issue last year with Brantley and the Sox? Almost an media agrument between him and Guillen?? I remember something...
  10. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ May 1, 2006 -> 01:13 PM) LMAO!! I am so photoshopping that later!!
  11. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 03:11 PM) I have discovered Jim Thome's true identity. By day, mild-mannered professional baseball player... By night... I'm pretty sure of it. LMAO!! I am so photoshopping that later!!
  12. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work & life. Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen & returned with a large pot of coffee & an assortment of cups made of Porcelain, Plastic, Glass, Crystal, some ordinary looking, some expensive, some exquisite. He told them to help themselves to hot coffee. When all the students had a cup of coffee in their hands, the professor said: "If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap looking ones. While it is but normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups and worse, you were eyeing each other's cups. Now if life is coffee, then the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, but the quality of Life doesn't change. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee in it." So folks, don't let the cups drive you..., enjoy the coffee instead!! What if the expensive cups were bigger and I just wanted more coffee??
  13. What a softball question... What happened to that old Soxtalk hard-hitting reporting that i grew up on?!?
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 11:06 AM) Brian Anderson and the rest of the single guys need to use this opportunity to get them a bunny for themselves. Look at what Pods goes home to. The downside is that's the cause for his constant groin injury.
  15. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) Chalk 1 series loss to an Ozzie lineup. We ended up with 4 or 5 series losses last year due to it, wonder how many we will have this year. All I know is Ozzie didn't lose a series for us in October last year and his bench guys (who got significant playing time during the year) were a big part of that.
  16. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 09:20 AM) WAITING for the analysis??? If everyone will take their seats... This episode was about 'buying things' etc...This show explored the hardships of honest working people like Artie vs the luxury of easy money makers. A nice scene was Tony sitting down and receiving a paper full of cash. He decides to give it to his struggling friend to pay off his tab. Adding to the theme of the show was the whole luxury lounge giveaway and the "tailors" comparing their goods on the plane. Plus Christopher's jealousy towards the perks of Hollywood. It was a very conscious choice by the writers to have Chris' fave Bacall movie to be, as he put it, "the haves and have nots" The epsiode ends with Artie working (cooking) with a burnt hand (result of his frustration with Benny) on a rabbit dinner which was killed partly from his frustration with Tony. This is juxtaposed with the Italians who just whacked Rusty and are going home richer and laughin at the "weak dollar". The everyday guy vs the alpha-male type thing. It wasnt the typical show of this season (it varied slightly from the 'duality of man' theme that has run rampant), but still made a very revelant point... Next week we get back down to business, it seems.

    Photoshop fun

    Proof the game was fixed!
  18. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 11:21 AM) We've gone full circle from spoilers to predictions and back. Maybe you can just edit your post at the top to remind those reading it that you are about to post a spoiler. Just a courtesy. I prefer to write my spoilers in invisible ink like this: (highlight to read) Finn's getting a visitor soon!
  19. QUOTE(Brian @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 09:36 AM) Friggin HBO or Comcast! Wasn't home to watch last night but wanted to watch it On Demand before work and as of 10:30am, it is not available yet. Gonna have to wait all day now. I will wait until Tuesday then to offer my analysis.
  20. Can't argue with #1 BEST. MOVIE. EVER. Also the greatest number of classic movie lines came from that one movie.
  21. Amputated his leg and was placed on the 15 day DL... He'll be back for the Minnesota series!
  22. As some of you know I am a actor/producer in the Chicago theatre scene. I am currently producing a the musical "Miss Saigon" at my theatre. We are trying a new marketing method with a Chicago-based company called Stagechannel.com. So I thought I'd post the link so you may see a few clips from my show. Interssting side-note... One of the cast members in the ensemble (not seen in the clips) works in the Cubs front office. LOL! Enjoy. http://www.stagechannel.com/content/video/...oduction_id=874
  23. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 08:57 AM) Agree. He's been needing something for a long time. Ribbie... where's the analysis..? Quit busting my balls...I'm busy, lady! I thought this was one the strongest episodes of the season. I like where David Chase is headed for the arch of the year. He is obviously dealing with the "duality of man" in each of these characters. Tony's is the most obvious at getting a "second life". But I love the inclusion of Pauly into the mix, making him question his own idendity (plus him kicking a guy's ass just for being loved by his mommy)and Silvio's new, albeit brief, life as boss. Vito's double life will come into play as will Christopher's choice to be a legit filmmaker again. Some of us feel Meadow might start taking a "Michael Corleone" path as she is the strongest offspring of the family. I think we will see more characters, as the season progresses, confront issues and make decisions that set them on a new course in life. This will be a season of surprises.
