Not only did he cost us the game with 6ER in 3IP, but because of those 3IP we just beat the s*** out of the bullpen today. Even without the doubleheader/extra innings, a 3 inning outing will strain a bullpen. The guy needs to go. He looks absolutely HORRIBLE on the mound.

That was pretty much hilarious. It kills me to say that considering it was spawned from a sCrUB fan, but damn, seriously, that s*** was pretty funy.

As a leading sportswriter in Chicago, who also regularly appears on a national sports show, who also has his own radio show on a local sports station, the man does carry some clout. He has faithful fans of his work. People who are new to town recognize his name and therefore read or listen to his bulls***. When arguably the most popular sportsperson in town continuously throws stones at a franchise I find it hard to believe that that doesn't result in a certain negative impression of that franchise amongst the public. That's why we should care. He obviously takes pleasure in knocking this team, this ownership, and the fans. He is no longer neutral, no longer unbiased, he is out to do as much damage as he can. Sox faithful like those of us on this board can't be swayed by his propaganda, casual baseball fans looking for a family outing can. I think that a promotion at the park bashing this guy would be an outstanding promotion. Obviously you wouldn't get him into a dunk booth, but we could have paper shredders at the gates. Bring a Mariotti article, shred it at the gate, and get a free ticket. It would forever label him as a hardcore sCrUBS fan after the media attention the stunt would garner, no longer would he be able to declare himself neutral. Finally, casual baseball fans who find themselves reading his crap, would realize that they are reading an extremely biased opinion.

Welcome Aboard!!! Yeah, I'm an Extra Innings subscriber down in OK. I don't get the WCIU games unless they happen to use the opponent's broadcast. Really frustrating.

Yeah, the bodyguard reference was nice jab. As was the jab at the DRays, which are no by no means a great team but most certainly better than PIT or the NYM, which are the two teams the sCrUBS just swept to get their record over .500. The Prior comment was ludicrous. The fact he tried to hail "blurrying" pitching performances for the sCrUBS again is misleading, considering those performances have only come against two of the most offensively anemic teams in the league. And the "winning for the franchise's self esteem" comment was a bit out there as well. We've been winning, or atleast in comparison the northside club we've been winning. "On behalf of every Chicagoan sick of these juvenile, dumb and civically demeaning spats over the Cubs and White Sox, allow me to propose a truce. Can't we all just get along?" Something tells me that journalism school didn't teach him how to support your introductory statement throughout your article.

Was tracking the game on the computer tonight and noticed that in either the 7th or 8th inning Sportsline gametracker showed Rauch warming up in the BP. Was this a mistake or did Rauch get called up?

My dad's family were all Sox fans. My uncle often took me to games, especially at Old Comiskey. I loved the Sox and brainwashing probably had quite a bit to do with it. My mother's side of the family were all big sCrUB fans. There was naturally quite a bit of ribbing. Each year I would bet my grandma $1 on the windy city classic. I used to look forward to that game every year for that reason. Incidentally, kind of OT here, but I live down in OK and was sporting my Choke t-shirt the other day at the grocery store. The shirt is a pretty novel item down this way so I take pride in pimping it around town, especially with the surprisingly strong Cub fan base here. Anyways, the dude at the checkout compliments the shirt and says to me, "oh, don't like chicago baseball, do ya?". After shooting him a very dirty look I told him I was a Chicago White Sox fan.

Adkins has to be first in line for closer after last night's performance against a recovering Yankees offense. CLUTCH with that K on ARod, just f***ing clutch. The most important thing about that inning was the fact that he got himself into trouble, shrugged it off, bore down and did what needed to be done. That's the kind of instincts that a closer has to have. Marte can't do that, neither can Politte, and we all know that Koch, who used to have this attitude, is running out of chances. Adkins would most definitely be my choice as BK's replacement.

So do you guys think this was a forced resignation or did Gallas just have enough? He's been here for 15 years, attendance is horrid compared to the sCruBS so far (and this point was mentioned in several Chicagoland papers), Sox popularity as a whole is down. If I'm JR, I'd force him out. He's head of marketing, which has been a huge failure. He's head of broadcasting, which atleast on the radio has been a gaggle. Good riddance.

nope, not just you.

Honestly, I don't give a s***. We're 8-4 and in first place with the best record in the AL. f*** Mariotti.

:puke That really did happen, or atleast a breaded chicken head did find it's way into a box of chicken mcnuggets. I remember reading the story on CNN back in 2000 and it was f***ing hilarious. The kid's mom brought the head to the manager. The manager apologized and offered her another order, lmao. I don't remember the incident being attributed to a PETA stunt though. -

Yeah, over on the MLB board I had predicted a 4th place finish for the Royals before the season started. Their offense is good, bullpen and defense are decent, and SP is absolutely horrible. Because the SP is horrible, it will quickly turn the decent bullpen into a tired, worn down BP and poor SP will also put additional pressure on a mediocre defensive club. They'll start to really see those affects by mid-May. They will be left with no choice but to try to get something in return for Beltran by the deadline. Once Beltran is gone I believe that the Indians will steal 3rd place in this division from the Royals, with MIN in 2nd and our beloved Pale Hose in 1st. Book it.

Sportsline has us at 11, but the Royals at 9, Cubs at 6, f***ing SF at 10??? http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/powerrankings -
No matter what we lost in players over the offseason, optimism should have reigned after the firing of Jerry Manuel. I'm tellin' ya, that guy singlehandedly cost us a shot at the World Series last year. I don't care if we would've lost 1/2 the team from last season, as long as JM was on the bus with them out of town I was going to be positive about this season.

from the daily southtown sports page, What about Joe? While Valentin could get a rest today, Guillen said he has no plans to give third baseman Joe Crede a break anytime soon. "Joe is going to be there for the rest of his life. He doesn't need a day off." Guillen said. "He hasn't even gotten on base yet to be tired."

The only thing I could think of while watching this game was, "how the f*** do people say that baseball is boring???".

I voted closer by committee, although Koch deserves another shot for the time being. Politte was awful in TOR and even made the comment this season that it requires a completely different mindset to close out games as opposed to being a set up man. I think Cliff was pretty much saying that he doesn't possess that mindset. Damaso is weak with runners on base and also blew several games himself last season. I think he'd be a good component of a closer by committee scenario, but he proved last season that he can't handle the load alone. DW, it'd be worth a shot, and again he'd fit into a closer by committee deal once he's moved out of the rotation and Cottsy is moved in. Adkins has good stuff and would actually be worth a look as well.
-
Billy in a no-save situation. or atleast so says sportsline, lol.
-
So who pitches the 9th? I say give the ball to Cottsy, let him get as much mound time as possible before he gets dropped into the rotation in a couple of weeks.

Paulie could really help my fantasy team right here.
