It is going to be so painfully so like no other offseason, for numerous reasons... mainly:
1.) We’re all in the middle of a pandemic lock down and have nothing to do with no where to go.
2.) Free agents aren’t going to sign for ages due to market uncertainty.
We are all going to be bonkers by December... if that.
It isn’t uncommon for people who require driving for a job that have a dui to be disqualified... A waiter isn’t a risk while working and a major league manager isn’t as well.
This isn’t about public safety, it is about job qualifications in the present circumstance and the scarcity of a position.
There aren’t only 30 waiter jobs.
Bottom line, his actions should warrant him not having this job.
Agree regarding the sponsors... can’t get there though about equating the hire to filling a line cook job.
This position only has 30 possible vacancies — it is very different and applicants are rightfully held to a higher standard.
I still say keep the talent and spend in free agency. Players like Vaughn, Cease, and Kopech don’t come around often.
It’d be a shame to trade them away when we can fill the rotation spots in free agency.
If we could go back to after game 3 in Oakland, knowing what would become... I doubt anyone here would have opted against keeping Ricky compared to this farce.
