"White Sox manager Ken Williams said Friday he's still hopeful of reaching a new contract agreement with star right fielder Magglio Ordonez, currently on the disabled list with a knee injury. Ordonez, the subject of recent trade rumors, is in the final season of a three-year, $29.5 million deal that is paying him $14 million this season. In the off-season, he told reporters he'd like to stay in Chicago with a long-term deal similar to ones signed by Vladimir Guerrero and Miguel Tejada. Guerrero got a $70 million, five-year contract from Anaheim, and Tejada received a $72 million, six-year deal from Baltimore. "We'll put something forth that is not too far away from what he orginally wanted," Williams said without addressing specifics. "We want to make sure we have some sort of protection in the event that he's not healthy in that fifth year, certainly not taking away any of the overall dollars. I think the framework is there for a deal to be consummated. Only time will tell and only he will be able to give us that indication." Ordonez, a four-time All-Star, had surgery to repair torn cartilage in his left knee June 5. He was not with the White Sox before Friday's game with the Cubs. "I don't know where he is. I haven't see him for what four days," White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said. "When you are on the DL, you can do whatever you want to do." Trainer Herm Schneider said Ordonez was spending the time in a Chicago suburb rehabbing his knee injury. "We backed him off and did some therapy in a more consistent environment. It's just too small here and we can't get done what we need to get done," Schneider said. "I have been in touch with him." Ordonez, who is batting .311 with eight homers and 34 RBIs, was expected to miss four to six weeks. "

im pretty damn sure that Freddy will pitch a GREAT game next time... check out this years historical evidance: april 14th: 6.0 13 5 5 april 19th: 7.0 3 0 0 may 18th: 6.0 7 5 5 may 23rd: 7.0 4 1 1 every other start has been under 4 runs prior to today, he had only given up 8 home runs so boys and girls, looks like the Garcia we saw today was at his worst (damn good worst if u ask me)

urrrrrrmmmmmmmmmm no

rauch = f*** jackson diaz = insurace starter? just a thought again
-
what about Rauch, Diaz as an insurance arm... now that they have both came up with good WINS for us? just throwing that out there
-
i think that with our club and our offence... the win - loss record of burley and e low shows a lot.... in terms of the Ozzie factor.... garland could be much better, and Show... i think... would be about 7 and 4 without his injury... that has been nagging him for his last few starts, but has just now recently come to the media and fan's surface
-
WOW I had no clue that his carrer record was that good, nor did i know that he was only TWENTY FIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ROCK ON BURLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
its all good, im pretty sure that all the people here like me... aside from 1 or 2 who i wont point out
-
not a HR, just a double it just got my wheels turning and i thought id post a thought to get some feedback, thats all.... SHINGO RULES!

f***ing bor - ASS maybe since the sox took a chance on shingo, he will say, hey bor- ASS... i wanna pitch for the sox, get me a good deal with them
-
diaz only gave up what, 2 runs against the cubs, maybe 3 if i am mistaken he earned the next start vs the flubs
-
cool, then after 2005 sign shingo to a 3 mil per year contract throu 2009 with insentives of 500K for 20+ saves, and 40+ saves for 1 million
-
whats the correct spelling of his name?
-
once word around the MLB gets around about him and his style... will MLB players be instructed to sit on a slow pitch by shingto and belt it on a rope like Mauer did? i think this maybe something to worry about.. because aside from him we have no closer.... if everyone he faces just sits on his slow stuff to hit on a line drive rope.... i think we're in trouble whatda u think?
-
W-E-L-C-O-M-E T-O S-O-X-T-A-L-K the best msg board around for the sox thanks for the post, your right... KW did a good job, there's more to come.... and i think we sign Garcia, and go into at least the ALCS PEACE!
-
my momma told me that life is like having three catchers, you never know who your gonna get *when said in a forest gump voice, that is funny to me =D
-
you still dont understand that if we get Jones that he will be here until 2007 because of a current contract? Jones isnt a rent-a-player
-
i just remembered Livan Hernandez and know that he is on KW's list... he is making the same 6 mil that Ortiz is, and his starts this year have been better! only 2 times has he allowed 5 or more runs... 11 quality starts... 3.47 ERA (3.22 ERA on the road).... s*** man, this looks like Freddy Garcia's twin brother... if we could get this guy, id be all over it! f***, i just looked at his contract... just signed a 3 year 21 mil. extention with the expos in april 2004 i doubt the expos will trade this guy "On the other hand, the Expos, whose season was over in May, have let it be known they have no intention of trading any of their coveted starting pitchers, Livan Hernandez, Zach Day and Tony Armas Jr." damn, i woulda gave them diaz, rauch, and sweeny (dont kill me

found this on a board: A Bavasi - Kenny Williams deal. I never even noticed that at first; must have ben an interesting negotiation ;-) Kenny Williams: Shiny! Pretty Veteran Ace. Bill Bavasi: My mommy says I'm supposed to get Top Prospects when trading Veteran Aces. Kenny: I have Prospects! Reed! Yay! Billy: He's big and strong. Pretty. Deal. Stampsies, no erasies. Kenny: This is fun. Let's trade more. Billy: Here. I have more Veteran Leaders. This catcher is hard to carry and he's expensive and I might break him and since he's expensive if I break him it'll be bad. Will you take him for me? Kenny: Yay! Veteran catchers! Here - I have more Prospects! Morsey! Neeeiiigghh! Billy: Shiny infielder! *claps* Yay! Kenny: Yay! *hugs Billy* Trading is fun!

id rather trade Rauch to ALT for Ortiz (who is a rent a player) and resign Maggs
-
talk about speculation!
