QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 11:38 AM) That is exactly who Hub Arkish just compared him to on the Score. Doesn't really have much breakaway speed but it looks like he's a b**** to tackle and he abuses smaller cornerbacks. Same thing Marshall does. Only drawback to that is generally you want the X and Z to be kinda different... but, who cares, that's nitpicky

Jeffery reminds me a lot of Brandon Marshall.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 11:20 PM) The issue isn't how the OL payed during the hot streak last year, or how the starting 5 isn't bad (its not, I like the Bears starting 5 actually). Its that depth, injury risk and age are big issues with the Bears... I dont know how much Spencer and Garza have left in the tank or how well Carimi and Williams will stay healthy. Drafting an offensive lineman in the first 3 rounds at least gives us a chance to have a good starter should something bad happen. The whole reason the Bears got so bad on the OL was that it was totally ignored for years. For like 5 seasons we didnt spend a single pick on an OL before round 4... then came panic mode where we had to spend all sorts of free agent $$$ and first round picks out of panic and desperation. I'd rather we not have that happen again, but here we are again back inviting it. Spencer is 30. Not that old. Garza, yeah, he will eventually need to go. Depth at tackle is a need but they still have 3 picks left, and filling out depth/developing guys for the future is much easier to do than find instant starters since for that you either need to use a high pick or spend money on expensive free agents. The team hasn't spent a first rounder on a defensive pick since 2004.

It's gonna feel good not being pissed the f*** off at Johnny Knox for failing when he was in way over his head again. Actual NFL receiver hands will be catching Cutler's throws this year

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 10:58 PM) 23 sacks in 10 games using Martz scheme isnt horrendous. The obvious hope is that the Bears call more plays that are quick and dont let the defense get up field regardless of protection. 23 sacks in 10 games is 37 sacks over 16 games. Aaron Rodgers got sacked 36 times in 15 games. Ben Roethlisberger was sacked 40 times in 15 games. Before Cutler broke his thumb the Bears had the 6th-ranked scoring offense (this was without Carimi, Marshall, or Jeffery) ...but yeah the Bears offense has no chance to do anything at all. Okay I guess.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 10:56 PM) Cutler was sacked 5 times total during the Bears 5-game winning streak before his thumb fell off. Shhhhh stop talking about facts and s*** that actually happened, you're gonna start confusing people.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 10:44 PM) You can't judge a draft for 3 years. Draft grades the day after the draft are stupid. They really are. You know exactly nothing. Guys you never heard of end up being studs, Guys who were All-American in college don't amount to s*** in the NFL. You can't know.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 10:40 PM) The critiquing of the NFL draft by fans that have never even watched tape on these guys always makes me chuckle.... Seriously. WTF? Bunch of scouts with crystal balls posting here?

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 10:22 PM) Emery leaves alot to be desired running the draft. He is Angelo 2.0.......................Picks 1 and 3 suck. NOT to address the OL in 3 rounds in criminal, got to draft a Safety for the 8th year in a row! Stop saying this... this is a Class 1 meatball statement Three f***ing picks into his career, none of which you've actually seen do anything in the NFL at all, and you're ready to bury him next to the grave of the last failure of a GM.

I know nothing about Hardin. Not sure I see the need for that pick with Massie and Thompson still on the board
-
X Brandon Marshall Y Earl Bennett Z Alshon Jeffrey Marshall is Marshall, Bennett catches everything, and Jeffrey is a go up and get it guy. This is night and day from last year

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 11:27 PM) Not sure how this is relevant. Urlacher was a freak athlete with really good size for a linebacker. Most people didn't know anything about him but if he was around now he would be incredibly hyped with his measurables. I said that because Emery scouted Urlacher and drafted him to play a position in the NFL he didn't play in college. And I think after some time to read more about McClellin and see people's reaction, a pretty substantial part of it is the "I don't know who the f*** this guy is" factor.
-
Tell the truth... think back to 2000, when we didn't have this advanced internet pouring with information and there was no YouTube, how much did you know about the safety from New Mexico that the Bears drafted to play MLB?
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 10:40 PM) Not at 19 they didn't! Now that I've gotten my initial WTF reaction out of the way I can say this doesn't actually mean anything. If he ends up being the pass rusher they think he is, the fact that they drafted him 10 spots earlier than he "should" have been drafted is just about totally irrelevant (the Packers wanted him too, another FO that knows what it's doing). Boise fans are telling me how awesome this guy is for whatever that's worth. I wanted a big splash and I tend to act like a meathead when they don't take exactly who I want but I've calmed down

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 10:32 PM) Uh I trust NE brass a hell of alot more than Chicago and until tonight, NE has drafted pretty much last 4 picks in first round for years crapshot postion. It's funny you should mention that since NE had a serious boner for McClellin
-
McClellin isn't a bad player at all but a) they could've traded down and b) I don't know what they're gonna do with him. Have him play SAM or have him in the dirt as a DE?
-
That was a buzzkill.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 09:51 PM) That's the WR from Baylor? Yes
-
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 09:47 PM) Kirkpatrick no, but DeCastro and Reiff. Just do not take Chandler Jones Bears, dont do it. Wright is also still on the board.
-
QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 09:45 PM) Come on, Ingram or Reiff... s*** Kirkpatrick might even still be there. Or not... which is fine. Shouldn't use 1sts on DBs in a Tampa 2 anyway.
-
Come on, Ingram or Reiff... s*** Kirkpatrick might even still be there.
-
Floyd being gone means that there's a good chance Reiff or Coples is still there at #19.
-
Good trade by Dallas. Addresses a CRIPPLING need they had.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 08:33 PM) Yeah, but I'm sure they threatened to trade the pick to Tampa or some other potential Richardson suitor. Yeah and for the last two weeks they've been pretending they didn't want Kahlil, classic smokescreen
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 08:25 PM) I got this thread up a little late, so this response is going to look out of place. The Browns didn't give up any real good pick though. Yeah you can get good players with 4th and 5th round picks, but they have another first that they can trade out of for a reduced price if they want to add picks. They kept their premium picks, and the ensure that they get the guy that they absolutely want. I don't mind a trade like that. The Vikings took Kahlil anyway. *shrug*
