QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 31, 2012 -> 01:40 AM) Apparently so, since most of those dunks were from the 90's, it just seems like a very stuck up mindset. There has been plenty of amazing dunks since then. I don't see anything special in that barkley dunk, since he didn't even dunk on anyone. The Kemp and Dr J dunk might have an argument. But I really think the Jordan dunk is more of a historically symbolism dunk (Jordan over Ewing), and a honor for him being the GOAT. Take out the names in that play, and there were quite a few facial dunks like that just from the past decade. But I haven't never seen a more powerful and athletic dunk, ever, like the dunk tonight. Not only did he dunk on Perkins, he took off from a long distance, jumped so high his head was above the rim, and his arm was fully extended, and threw down a thunderous dunk. the contortion of o his legs just made it more aesthetically pleasing. If you don't think this dunk can touch any of those dunk, you need to stop living in another era. You know Quinarvy is only like 18 right

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 09:38 PM) I wouldn't say "poorly constructed" as much as "basketball challenged". They have some insanely athletic players but few skills and no basketball IQ. Wall and McGee are nice pieces (though Wall isn't there yet obviously), but Blatche is clueless and they don't have anyone that can shoot. I was at the game, for the first half their offense was basically "stand around and wait for John Wall to do something"

Watching Joakim Noah attempt to play point guard is like ____________.

What would've happened to the Bulls if say Scottie Pippen got hurt any of those years Losing superstar players sucks for everybody.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 03:29 PM) FWIW, Mirotic has stepped up a lot this season. People think he's a lot closer to the NBA than he was at the time of the draft. He's now starting at PF for Real Madrid and won Euroleague MVP last month. They still have to work out contracts and all that s*** don't they?

Howard is a f***ing doofus. Why didn't he say this before? Like 2 months ago?

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 29, 2012 -> 11:15 AM) You're telling me you put Peyton on the Browns or the Rams and they're SB contenders? I don't even think the Colts this year WITH HIM would be that good. That defense was just awful. Part of that is that in years past, other offenses had to keep up with Manning or play from behind, which had the Colts defenses able to just tee off with Mathis and Freeney... they always had problems stopping the run, save for a couple of years (one of them being 2006). This year they couldn't do that and you saw the result. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 10:59 AM) Pretty much the same zero percent you are getting now. Right. If I hypothetically had extra money I'd just put it in the "cash" part of my brokerage account anyway and use it to buy stocks

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 10:31 AM) Yea I was just told by one that they are sending them out Feb 15th, fannnntastic! Are you using Schwab too? QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 10:35 AM) Just started working on TurboTax last week, should get it filed in the next week or two. I always overpay, probably due back around 7 or 8 grand for my refund this year. People say I'm giving the government an "interest-free" loan, but I don't care. If I had gotten that money bi-weekly during the year, I would have spent it all, not invested it. I like suddenly getting a large bonus check in February to buy something nice with and build up some more savings. Bought a hot tub last year, probably buying a vacay to Europe with this money. I see it the same way... plus... if you had it in a savings account what kind of piss-poor interest rate would it have anyway?
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 29, 2012 -> 08:54 PM) I overpay, my idiot wife underpays and refuses to alter her payments... so I pay. Had this exact problem until last year. I sat her down and explained "YOU ARE f***ING US" in very clear terms. She whined that her check would be smaller, I said tough s***, this is our tax rate, and at the end of the year I end up paying the difference of like $600 that I pull out of my ass. I'm not doing that s*** anymore. She finally got it when I kept the entire refund (Maryland usually gives me a decent chunk of money back regardless of what the feds do). I try to keep her away from financial decisions as much as I can because she ranges from almost-competent to ignorant to destructive... I can barely get her to keep track of s*** she donates to charity, she just says "write in $500. No dumbass, I can't do that! It's all good until we f*** around and get audited and guess which one of us is gonna deal with that?!? Other than that, waiting on a 1099 to arrive from my brokerage account, then gonna go ahead and submit my return that same day.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 10:27 AM) I can't fault Rose for wanting to take over at that point of the game. He is the star, and does some crazy amazing s***. I wouldn't have been shocked if he hit that at the end. After Haslem fell down, he had a decent look. I'm not really faulting him... I know he won't make every shot. Reminds me of that Jordan "failure" commercial actually. I just don't think he was the best one to be taking that shot. Plus it was just a really good defensive effort by Miami too
-
But the gist of what I just said is that regular season wins and losses vs. a specific team don't actually mean that much in terms of the big picture
-
You know, you have to figure Thibodeau would see Spoelstra doing that and figure out a way around it. If you know LeBron is on Rose that means resources are directed elsewhere and you attack differently... that's kind of the exact reason that Rip is on this team. Not pointing the finger at him as the reason for the loss or anything, but I don't really know what Rose saw on that last possession. He attracted all the attention because he's Derrick f***ing Rose, and he tried to get Korver who was covered. After that Rip was open, but Rose spun around and tried to create a play and took an extremely difficult contested shot that would've been AMAZING if it went in (and he's done it before) but wasn't even close. I don't think it's that unreasonable to expect him to know which one of his teammates was open considering he's the best point guard in the entire world

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 08:42 AM) I downloaded Google talk for my iPad..I think I had to pay $2 for it, which is ridiculous. I'm not sure which I downloaded because I am at work, but if you just read the reviews, you should be able to find one that works well. I found some free app, I forget the name of it, but it does basic Google chat w/video and s***.
-
Syncing Google contacts on the iPad isn't self-explanatory at all. And it comes with stock Android devices, but I just want basic Google talk on the iPad and I can't find one, all these paid apps. Yeah no... see, Google is free. f*** you mean PAY?

Griftopia. Great read if depressing as all f***.

@BobMcGinn Bob McGinn Phil Emery is one of the finest evaluators of college f-ball players that I have been privileged to interview. The @Bears hired a good man. (McGinn is a Packers beat writer, one of the better respected journalists) -

I don't dislike this move really. Ross was who I wanted. Emery won't be a disaster. -
Bout to take the plunge and go ahead and get an iPad... which I have ZERO use for but just want really bad.... I want to know if there are any accessories I should have?

I think I see what YASNY was getting at. I mean if you were mass-producing a robot that was designed after a player to be a leadoff hitter, you wouldn't model it after De Aza but he showed he's good enough to be one, or earn the chance at least.
-
Jennings is actually having a fine season so far
-
QUOTE (YASNY @ Jan 26, 2012 -> 11:51 AM) To answer the question in the thread title title, no. Rickey Henderson was the ideal lead off hitter. However De Aza did a good job last year and may be the best option we have. Lillibridge's 2011 ... was a fluke or did it all come together for him? I don't know, but we will find out in 2012. That's a totally unfair comparison, it's like saying Jerry Rice is an ideal WR or Michael Jordan is an ideal shooting guard. Who wouldn't love a Rickey Henderson on their team, lol. But there was only one, ever

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 27, 2012 -> 06:17 PM) He hasn't "earned" anything. Or if becoming a worse player while still being a lousy defender after signing a fat contract is acceptable, yes, he's earned it. Boozer is who he is, a pretty efficient offensive player, good passer and rebounder, terrible on-ball defender who is slow on rotations. It's not really his fault Bulls fans seem to want him to be 5 years ago Kevin Garnett and he's not. I mean I get why people don't like the fact that his contract is so big, but he was basically the best the Bulls could do in that offseason when it was clear the Bulls were going to strike out on the LeBron debacle. It isn't like they could've gotten Stoudamire or Joe Johnson (speaking of guys who are overpaid, holy s***). So, as a result Boozer ends up being a scapegoat who takes a lot of unwarranted criticism... example, people like to point to Boozer as the main reason the Bulls couldn't get by the Heat, but Noah disappeared too, and his disappearance was probably more complete

Hillary said some clumsy line talking about her supporters in certain states and she said "hard-working Americans... white Americans" that she got blasted for and rightfully so. It was a stupid comment

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jan 27, 2012 -> 02:49 PM) your Lincoln joke was in bad taste and you should retract it. Too soon? I think I get what Tex was trying to say but I don't really understand the follow-on logic... what if she didn't survive the shooting, does the "forced" part of it really matter? Also every crazy-assed person who commits a violent crime isn't necessarily a terrorist, the definition is a lot more complicated than that.
