QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 10:06 PM) Wow, Bulls might not score 80 points. This is a college basketball score. Pretty weak offense, but great D. Shortened season, bunch of games packed in together, there will be games like this.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 02:13 PM) Don't forget though...those 13 games included No Boozer, and yes Circus Trip. Hence my statement "he had already won the MVP"
-
At this time last year the Bulls were 7-6 through 13 games. Rose had already won the MVP. Everyone just didn't know it yet. It was this stretch of the season where Rose really started to lift off and carry this team.

QUOTE (Felix @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 10:09 PM) My computer was down while the Bulls played the T-Wolves but Rubio is legit. I have NO IDEA why so many people were down on him before he even played a game in the NBA.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 6, 2012 -> 09:04 AM) Have we interviewed him already? No and that was just me expressing hope it would happen. Now that it won't, I'm going to start typing a suicide note. -
QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 7, 2012 -> 12:57 AM) So you are saying his long range shots (I am guessing long 2s and 3s) are off this season (which I said in the original post), but it's coming back or at least would come along? (Which I don't see, based on last season and so far this season) I don't even remember what the original post said. lol. Something about him giving up on taking threes and moving closer to inside the stripe. I don't think he should though and I think it will come back eventually with consistency (happened with Bogans last year). It was also a factor in his explosion into a MVP player last year.

This was Boozer's best game in who knows how long on both ends of the floor. Cut Noah some slack, everyone gets owned against Dwight Howard. My wife was watching the game with me and while they were running together I pointed out that Noah is actually pretty ripped, but next to Howard he looks like a rail. At one point he effortlessly swiped a rebound out of the air with one hand over 3 Bulls players.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 6, 2012 -> 11:23 AM) Take off the three point shots, and he's shooting 51.4% from the field and 89% from the free throw line. I meant the long-range shots. Of course he's still getting field goals by getting to the rim and is still money from the line. His jumper is gradually coming back.

Tracy mcgrady had something to say about that.

If Eric DeCosta says yes, the job is his. -
The hawks look really good, and then will completely change 5 minutes later. Everything will be going fine and then out of nowhere Joe Johnson will awkwardly fling up a skyhook from 22 feet away that bounces off the top of the backboard.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 02:51 AM) It seems Derrick's three point shot is as streaky as ever. If it comes, he can hit three or four in a row, but most of the time he's short or flat on those jumpers until he gets on a hot streak. Some poster proposed earlier that Rose should eliminate the three point shot like Lebron did this season. While I don't buy that he has to eliminate completely, because he is a better shooter than Lebron, I do think that he has no business of taking 4, 5, or 6 shots behind the arc every night. He is not a pure shooter, he will never shoot 40% or even 38% from long range. I think what could actually take him to the next level is working the post game. He is bigger, stronger, and more athletic than most point guards in this league, there is no reason he couldn't take smaller guards in the post and convert a high percentage if he so choose to. I think he just need to work on that part of his game. If he wants to be more efficient, which is his primary goal this season, then adding a post game would be tremendous. P.S. Lebron is indeed shooting 60% from the field, mostly due to eliminating the three point shot, and working more in the post after working out with Hakeem in the offseason. My Derrick wish list for next off season is to work with Hakeem as well, or even a guy like Andre Miller on post game, I truly think it will take his game to the next level. Rose hasn't been shooting well in general at all this year. Not just threes.

Angelo drafted Briggs, Bennett, and Berrian on the second day. Most of his other picks look like Wolfe, Okwo, Gilbert, Iglesias, Bazuin, Dvoracek, Harrison... You're supposed to be getting at least one or two impact players in every draft after the first or second round. This is why Bears fans think the Greg Olsen trade was lopsided, they think a third is nothing because they're used to seeing Angelo f*** it up. Competent scouting gets you guys like Briggs much more often. I like to ask, would you trade Olsen for Bennett? For Briggs? -
QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 05:54 PM) Noah, Boozer Still Searching For Chemistry Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah combined to play just 4 seconds in the fourth quarter of Tuesday’s 76-74 win over the Hawks with all four coming from Noah, who threw the game-winning pass to Luol Deng with 3.7 seconds left. "We're worried about winning," Boozer said. "I think we've been playing great this season on the floor together. And we're going to continue to play great." Their spacing on the floor looks off, and they increasingly look frustrated at times together, especially on the defensive end. For his part, Noah admits that he has to pick up the slack. "I think I need to rebound better," Noah said. "And do better defensively. Play better defense." Via Nick Friedell/ESPNChicago.com When I see Noah on defense this year, he's having to recover whoever Boozer blew his assignment on and it forces him to be late, I'd be overly aggressive and foul. When Taj was starting Noah didn't have to worry about that. It's a problem going back into last season.

I tweeted Robert Mathis and asked his feelings on playing opposite Peppers and told him I know he can't really speak on the future yet, and he said (paraphrasing) "Pep is a cool ass dude and a hell of a DE but you right, can't speak on that topic" -

I find myself agreeing with iamshack almost all the time this season. I don't know what his future in KC will look like, but Bowe is the guy I think they should be going after in FA and they do have the salary cap space to do it. Yes he did quit on some games in KC when they were losing badly but that s*** won't fly here with Tice and Cutler. VJax will cost too much and if he doesn't get franchised I think DJax will have his feelings hurt by how much money he'll actually get. There are a lot of #2s available too although i want Bennett to play there. Knox averages like 20 yards a catch... why? Because he can only make 20-yard catches! He can run fast in a straight line, or a post. Ask him to do a crossing route, a curl, or to come back... he can't do it. He slips and falls a lot (so does Hester who has the same problem) and it gets blamed on the turf but the truth is he has bad techniques on his breaks and after being in the NFL this long with no improvement there I don't know how much better he can do. On the play Cutler got injured this exact thing happened. And Cutler's interceptions were way down, but would be even lower without Knox allowing the ball to sail past him on blown routes. He would work fine as the 4th receiver or a guy who is brought in on passing downs to split the safeties... not running complex X or Z routes. I had no idea Wes Welker was a free agent... if you made a robot designed to play slot receiver you'd model it after him. However we have Hester who should be doing for us exactly what Welker does in New England, and we're paying him a lot of money to do other things he's no good at. I'm also crossing my fingers hoping that the football gods compensate us for this season by allowing Michael Floyd to fall to us in the draft. -

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 03:18 AM) I hope the Bears take a serious run at Jeremy Bates for the new OC for Cutler. It's gonna be even more criminal for Cutler to learn another new offense 3 out of 4 seasons. Just destroys his development. Get him back to the West Coast offense. Cutler has praised Bates before. Tice is another one who I wouldn't mind them promoting for Cutler to still have the same offense. And we all know Tice is a guy who loves to run the ball. FWIW, they had a falling out before he went to Seattle -

My first choice for GM would be Eric DeCosta from Baltimore and Reggie McKenzie from GB. DeCosta doesn't seem to be in a hurry to leave Baltimore though, and the ravens have him tapped as Ozzie Newsome's successor whenever that is. -

The line doesn't need as much work as it seems really. First off a new offense will put much less pressure on the line as shack alluded to. Secondly next year they will get guys back from injury. I like Webb as a depth guy but nit as the franchise LT. So, if you bring in another LT your line starts looking like this New LT C. Williams Garza or Spencer Spencer or Louis Carimi And now your bench is Webb, Spencer or Louis, E. Williams, and another guy (Omiyale gets a job application at a used car dealership). That's really not bad at all. -
QUOTE (SouthSideTeacher @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 12:11 AM) All due respect to our MVP, Omer had a little something to do with this comeback as well. Defensively, he nearly killed himself for us tonight. He looked like he was about to collapse every time the camera cut to him on timeouts and such. (9 rebounds, 3 blocked shots, a steal, and a partridge in a pear tree.) He was balling his ass off. Even got the refs to overturn a call.

In the last 2 seasons the Bulls are an NBA-best +221 in the 4th.
-
The first half looked like Helen Keller and Michael J. Fox playing a game of Jenga. Then after the Bulls looked like they were about to get blown out, Rose somehow willed them back into the game single-handedly.
-
Rose isn't Ray Allen from downtown but it's not like he's a brick machine, either. During the season he was hitting those at .332 pretty consistently, really not bad. In the playoffs he lost his legs due to being completely worn out (.248, and it got worse as the playoffs went on) and started bricking.
