I have no issues at all with that fake punt playcall at the end. That's the exact situation you want to call a play like that. Podlesh just didn't make the throw. If he does, then that's 6, because clearly San Diego wasn't expecting it and nobody was in position anywhere. If not, then at least it's a first down, and San Diego had no timeouts left because Norv Turner is a f***ing idiot. If it fails then they are still losing by 11 and need a TD, an onside recovery, and another TD (or a 2-point conversion and a FG) inside of 2 minutes with no timeouts left. Not exactly a piece of cake. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 18, 2011 -> 11:21 AM) Now here is where you might have a bit of a logical conundrum, Balta. Which is more environmentally friendly? A plastic tree that you use for 10 years, or 10 individual trees that are farmed and have to be regrown? I think you're setting up this question to shoot down what Balta is saying by asking a leading question to suggest plastic trees are better... but, they're not. Live trees are grown and recycled, a lot of times grown locally, while they're grown they take in CO2, and when they're done being used they're biodegradeable. Plastic trees are produced using chemicals, usually somewhere like China, and then they're shipped across the Pacific/thru the Panama canal halfway around the world, all of which pollutes. Then when the tree breaks down it gets thrown in a dumpster.

NBA 2K12 is awesome. Derrick Rose is impossible to guard. My stepdaughter plays as the Bulls all the time and she has him blow right by my defender (I like to play OKC). Speaking of OKC, Durant can't miss a shot, and I have trouble hitting shots with Westbrook. Just like the real Westbrook I guess, lol

The Bears gameplan won't look anything like that. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 18, 2011 -> 12:00 AM) Exactly. They blitzed eight guys, so as long as he gets to the outside he has all this free room to run, which is the only thing he can do. Sit back in coverage, make him beat you with his arm Rex, bad coaching. It should be interesting when the Bears head to Denver. I'm thinking Lovie won't be dumb enough to let him beat the Bears like that, but Urlacher/Briggs do have the size & speed to keep up with him. MVP of tonight = Von Miller. That kid is a f***ing beast. I don't know what blitzing Tebow like that is supposed to do anyway. It's not like it actually accomplishes anything and if anything, it makes Tebow more dangerous. Once he finds a lane he's got 12 yards. And he likes throwing on the run better than standing in the pocket and making reads. So why do it? It's like you're doing him a favor. -

If anyone felt they gave excessive praise for Rex Ryan a few pages ago and would like to take the opportunity to temper it, now would be an appropriate time to do that -

I just don't understand what the Jets were trying to accomplish at the end of the game. What's the ONLY possible way that the Broncos win that game? By having Tebow bust loose on the ground, you know he won't/can't throw. So to counter that you play to contain/have a safety or linebacker to spy him and don't let him do that, and force him to throw. What do they do instead? Blitz. Get burnt. Repeatedly. Lose the game. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 04:22 PM) How many times does a FA QB actually work? Warner? Drew Brees. The list is extremely short though. Pro Bowl QBs just don't hit free agency very often. That's why the Cutler trade was such a big deal. -

I'd rather have the Packers, Steelers, or Ravens front offices than worrying about the coaches... if you gave Lovie talent like that instead of the half-assed offenses he's had for most of his tenure, or the years where he had magnificent, gaping holes in the defense, and his resume probably looks a lot more like Mike Tomlin's. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 03:50 PM) Taking a 4-12 and 9-7 team to two straight AFC championship games in his first two years (with Sanchez) isn't very impressive, I agree. it's funny how you just used this exact same logic to knock Lovie a few posts ago but here, it's a point of praise when you're talking to someone else. I don't get it. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 03:26 PM) I could agree with this. Honestly, alot of people could also point to MVP-caliber players making coaches look very good. I'm not sure Sean Payton is a hero without Drew Brees. I'd like to see your perspective on how you would rank Bears ownership against your list. I would have them dead last. Honestly... I don't know why fans of sports teams complain about ownership as if there was anything that could be done about it. If a fan has a problem with the team's owner, they might as well find a new team. It's not like the owner is going to sell the team just because you don't like them. Think about it: the Bears owner is Virginia McCaskey for the past 30 years (she and her husband before he died). She is the daughter of the guy who founded the franchise in 1921. 90 f***ing years ago. The McCaskeys aren't going anywhere, when Virginia dies then Mike or George is taking over. If you're a Bears fan you just have to suck it up. A legitimate gripe was had with Wirtz, but... he had to die before a change happened there. Otherwise the Blackhawks would still be a laughingstock. -
QUOTE (danman31 @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 08:45 PM) More or less what I think of the game. Though, through various improvements in combat you don't need to counter at all anymore. I just go in swinging with the hidden blade, mix in a few kicks if needed, and chain kills together. I only counter when in the middle of a string and I notice the attack in time. The den defense is f***ing annoying. I'm doing whatever possible to avoid those, which really slows me down having to bribe multiple heralds to keep your notoriety low. I loved running around Rome and rebuilding all the shops because it was fast, easy and involved lots of free running to go to the different places. Now I'm forced to do that slowly because I want to keep my notoriety down to avoid the annoying den defense. Most of the reviews I've read have either mostly or totally ignored multiplayer, which I believe is now the most fun part of the game. Multiplayer is improved and I'm enjoying it more, which I never thought I'd say. The dudes with the long weapons, you don't have to sit there and wait for them anymore while you dodge, you can just aggressively go after them. They were trying to do something new and keep it fresh with the den defense, but I think it was a terrible idea. It doesn't really help my not liking it that I haven't figured it out either. The f***ing battering ram thing comes in at the end and just tears through everything, and even if you have a roof full of riflemen they don't kill it fast enough.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 10:54 AM) Me too, I think its fun once in awhile, but the super nerd kids that spend their entire life on there make it ridiculously boring. Pretty much the main reason I haven't gotten MW3... last year I was playing MW2 and I just had a moment where I realized everyone I was playing with played the game for 10 hours a day while I was at work and having a life... it just wasn't fun. And spawn rapists. I told myself then, that I was done with multiplayer FPS games for a while.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Nov 15, 2011 -> 11:20 AM) Its a little interesting watching cities use heavy handed techniques to try to deal with these occupys only to watch them start to get stronger as a result. In Philadelphia, theres an issue brewing too. Philly has offered space across the street from where Occupy Philly has been camped out, because they are scheduled to do major construction work where the Occupy camp is. Occupy Philly has decided, for some silly reason, not to move across the street. I feel moderately sympathetic to the Occupy goals. I just wish they had a leadership, an actual goal, an actual objective other than camping out until some undefined thing happens. I want to support this movement, I think its heart is in the right place. I just wish they actually had a brain to go with it. I guess it's better than what liberals usually do about politics (which is to go log onto Daily Kos and whine about how Obama is a big stupid doodyhead because he hasn't gotten any laws passed to get more transgendered soccer coaches, and also Republicans are really mean)

Also when Lovie was a full-time defensive coordinator, he pretty much created a defense out of thin air. The Rams had the worst defense in the league in 2000. He isn't a head coach for no reason. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 12:43 PM) How would it help the Bears if I got pissed at the Packers? I dont like that meathead mentality. I respect Rodgers a lot, the guy is playing at an uber-elite level. The entire offense is in a crazy rhythm, it is hard to deny that. I want the Packers to lose, but getting pissed at them isnt going to make the Bears any better and it wont make the Packers any worse. And the Bears know that they have a date with the Packers at the end of the season, they know it is important even though it probably wont be for first In regards to the Lions, they play dirty and talk a bunch of s***. They got their shots in a month ago and all the sudden want to act like b****es when it comes back their way. Too f***ing bad, time to grow up and act like a professional team and stop trying to act like schoolyard bullies. They didnt take any candy, they gave some bulletin board material, and here the bears are 5 weeks later, tied with them in second place. The scoreboard is the longest middle finger. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 09:37 AM) Tell me what Lovie is even decent at in games. t.o. usage - terrible challenges - terrible clock management - atrocious adjustments - terrible game planning - average I don't think this is fair at all TO usage - terrible since Martz has been here, but Lovie is only partially responsible for that. challenges - terrible. very very terrible. clock management - average. He's not Andy Reid out there totally oblivious to the clock and he does a good job of knowing when to throttle down the offense to preserve a safe lead. adjustments - average. sometimes he doesn't when he should, sometimes he makes the wrong adjustment, sometimes he gets it right. All coaches have games where their plan doesn't work. He's learned this over the years. Game planning - above average. From opponent to opponent the defense doesn't need to be changed too much. Players are almost always ready to play come game day and in the last couple of years there's a sense of urgency that wasn't there before when he benches players who aren't performing. When the offense goes awry, that's usually Martz and not Lovie. Lovie is not the greatest coach around but he's not terrible either. He's no worse than average, and fans of other teams would probably say he's above average. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 13, 2011 -> 09:11 PM) The one play where Suh pushed Cutler down about 4 seconds after he had thrown the ball was basically what kind of player he is in a nutshell. Granted, I'd love to have him on the Bears, but it was pretty funny hearing Billick try to defend him and then 2 minutes later he pulls something like that. I can't understand for the life of me why we didn't run any screens to Forte today. They were clearly selling out to fill the gaps we exploited in the Monday night game against them, but we never tried to punish them for their overpursuit today. Cutler didn't play particularly well today, but I still love how he is delivering the ball on those deep in routes...it's almost as if his arm was made for them. Gotta make sure we don't let down now heading into the AFC West games. You have to run screens against a Wide 9 line. Martz has at least one WTF playcall per game. I think that's set in stone. Why the hell is Forte throwing the ball? But I think they pretty much shut down the offense in the second half, playing the "we have a big lead" boring, conservative offense. The defense had a problem where it couldn't stop scoring. -

However, in Stafford's defense, those Bears DBs were wide open. I wouldn't mind a Bears lineman "accidentally" "falling" on one of Suh's knees just to see if he's as willing to take it as much as he tries to give it.
