  1. Stellar defensive performance? What game were we watching? They were getting penetrated like a 20 dollar whore, the score was 14-0 before anybody really knew what was going on.
  2. Hopefully we will be able to move Hester into the slot and use him like Welker next year finally, and declare an end to the "Hester is an outside receiver" experiment. I love the guy, and he is an explosive playmaker, but he's not consistent enough and he's not going to improve.
  3. For the most part I think the line did a pretty good job of recognizing when Green Bay was blitzing, except for Cutler's sack where Williams blew his assignment and let a guy come through unblocked. The 3rd sack was a coverage sack, Cutler had the ball for like 5 or 6 seconds and hesitated throwing to Hester and should've thrown it away. The run blocking was atrocious, though. Forte was getting blown up all game.
  4. Johnny Knox is a sissy... he seriously needs to grow a dick.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 04:00 AM) Pretty f'ing excited for this Bears game tomorrow. Not sure how the defense will play considering the circumstances, but if we can get a performance out of our offense similar to last week, which shouldn't be difficult, considering the Saints won't be able to get a ton of pressure on Jay without Will Smith (yes, I know they will bring the blitzes), we should be in the driver's seat for this one. Love the moneyline value at +260 Bears are dogs for some reason and they're a great bet to take this week. As far as defense goes, people bring up the Saints hanging up a lot on the Packers but the Bears and Packers play a totally different style of D. Packers have a very aggressive blitzing defense that's vulnerable to risk-taking. Bears play a simple, conservative defense, and keep everything in front of them and don't blitz much. Saints have issues on their O-line, too, so the Bears probably won't. Gregg Williams is also really aggressive but so is Martz and that actually plays to the Bears' strengths IMO. If you see the Saints go from man to zone at any point in the game, the Bears probably have the game sewn up.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 07:00 PM) Kyle Orton went what, 10-3 in a mediocre offense as a rookie? Dude, stop it, the offense was mediocre because of him. Granted he was a rookie but still, he only gets credit when graded on a huge curve. He had a 59.7 QB rating, a completion barely over 50%, and the only reason he didn't have more than 13 interceptions is because his passes were so poorly thrown even the DBs couldn't get to them. His stats looked very much like Brady Quinn's in 2009... in fact Quinn's were probably better. Tebow's for about 2 1/2 (completely meaningless) games definitely were. Orton is a decent QB, yes, but if people are going to bury Quinn because of his rookie season they should take a look at Orton's stats in 2005. They were terrible.
  7. Danny Richar. I really don't know what the f*** I saw in that guy. Saw decent numbers in the minors when we traded for him and figured he would... actually I don't even know. Damn. This is kinda embarrassing.
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 08:23 PM) Simply because he doesn't excel at what a quarterback needs to in this day and age to be a difference maker in the NFL. His accuracy is putrid, and though he has wheels, he won't be an effective NFL quarterback. Instead of saying he shouldn't be a QB, I should have said he should not be counted on as anything more than a backup, and people chanting for him to start in the NFL need their heads examined. I agree with this I've got nothing at all against Tebow, I'm not a "hater" (he really seems to have a lot of honest-to-God haters, for no real reason) but it just doesn't seem like the things he got by on in college are going to fly against faster, stronger, just generally superior NFL defenses. By all accounts he's a great guy, and has a strong work ethic, but that's a LOT of work he has to do. Unless you're Mike Vick, and even he is debatable, you just won't amount to much of anything as an NFL quarterback without at least some passable throwing accuracy. Not that I think he can't... it's just expecting an awful lot that has no guarantee of happening even with hard work. Like telling a 27-year old Juan Pierre "you can increase your SLG% by 100 points, just hit the gym. You can do it, you're a hard worker!"
  9. The 1 TB HDD I bought to replace the one I had previously that died abruptly, that I posted about last year... died... fortunately I had enough time to back up the files before it finally s*** the bed. Instead of getting another to replace it, instead I just got a 80 GB SSD to run programs from and I just did a clean Windows install, and I'm just gonna get another storage drive when I get paid. This is... wow. I click on my Google Chrome icon and it fires up INSTANTLY. Like, as fast as a window would come up if you already have it open. It doesn't do all the seeking and spinning a regular HDD does. It's just... there.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 06:35 PM) I think that the amount they offered him was fair for when they offered him. If he wants to push a $20 mil guarantee he needs to get towards the end of this season. Right... that's just not his market value right now. Another year of 2010 and it will be. $20 mil guaranteed for a running back is a lot.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 11:49 AM) It's no secret that Forte should be paid. If I was the GM of the Bears I would up the offer to $18 million guaranteed (this is a lot of money relative to most other running backs), but no more than that. Any more and his cap number starts to make you wince, and the Bears have several guys on one-year deals and have other expiring contracts e.g. Chris Harris. And he, quite frankly, hasn't performed at the level of those guys to date... I think this is the year he will finally make a Pro Bowl, but still, he's not Chris Johnson.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 09:22 AM) Apparently Jaworski apologized later in the game for it. He apologized for offending people with inappropriate language, or something like that. I was sooo not offended. Apology not necessary. lol
  13. Has an entire NFL defense ever had a heat-related injury at the same time before?
  14. I think it was Jaworski, he said "s***" to start a sentence and tried to hurry up and finish his sentence. edit: yeah.
  15. Paul Krugman says the Bush administration used 9/11 as a wedge. Gets ripped for it. You can't really state the obvious any more plainly than this, seriously. Bush's entire re-election campaign basically centered around either real or blatantly manufactured 9/11 drama. So did the domestic case for the Iraq war. It was extremely deliberate and well-coordinated. I honestly thought this was common knowledge.
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 10:50 AM) I don't know of any conservative who completely ignores prior deficits and places the blame solely on Obama. I think the issue is raising those deficits to historical levels going forward. I do... um, basically all of them?
  17. That hit by Johnson is blatantly dirty, there's no defending it whatsoever.
  18. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 10:20 PM) No questions about his physical abilities. He has it all. If he matures between the ears he will be a superstar for years to come. I'm not necessarily a fan... Just confused why so many people were certain he would fail without giving any actual reasons for believing it
  19. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 09:38 PM) Lots of things. Academic cheating at Florida, felony charges of burglary, larceny, and obstruction of justice. Pay for play at Auburn. Comments like “I see myself not only as a football player, but an entertainer and icon." Here is what one NFL draft writer wrote about him. Under "negatives" for Newton, Nawrocki writes, "Very disingenuous — has a fake smile, comes off as very scripted and has a selfish, me-first makeup. Always knows where the cameras are and plays to them. Has an enormous ego with a sense of entitlement that continually invites trouble and makes him believe he is above the law — does not command respect from teammates and will always struggle to win a locker room . . . Lacks accountability, focus and trustworthiness — is not punctual, seeks shortcuts and sets a bad example. Immature and has had issues with authority. Not dependable." I saw that draft report and figured it was mostly bulls***. I mean, talking about his smile? That's like people with Jay Cutler's facial expressions. Regardless, as far as his actual football ability... You don't have to like someone to see that. Why do people just make s*** up? Like the jamarcus Russell comparisons? Come on now.
  20. I just don't know what Cam Newton has done to earn all the hate he gets.
  21. Watching Steve Smith torch the Cardinals one-on-one with no safety help over the top is hilariously ironic, seeing as how Ron Rivera is coaching the Panthers now.
  22. Next week will be Melton, Okoye, and Toeina against Olin Kreutz... just saying
  23. I did not see the Ravens curb-stomping the Steelers. I figured that'd be a close game.
  24. Next week is an away game, but from a matchup perspective NO is very similar to ATL. Obviously Brees is >> Ryan, but the Saints defense is soft as toilet paper. They probably won't have much success running the ball (the run defense today looks bad because of the big play given up to Turner, but the Bears had the #2 run defense last year) and they'll have to depend a lot on Brees and keep the pressure off #9. The Bears will have their hands full trying to stop Brees, but Colston being out is a big break.
