Holy s*** I feel like I just saw a ghost.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 18, 2011 -> 08:50 AM) Eh, Eddy is doing about as much work as the NFLers right now, so it is all good. You use the phrase "right now" but how is that different from when he played?

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ May 20, 2011 -> 09:45 PM) Comment from below the article At the rate she's going, she'll develop carpal tunnel syndrome in no time. Then she can get worker's comp and get paid to masturbate at home. ;-) That was solid gold... I made sure to click like

I recently had the audacity to suggest on a sports group that Kobe has already entered his physical decline due to age and isn't as effective as he used to be... man, you would've thought I said "Kobe sucks" based on the reaction. Kobe has a self-contained cult of personality behind him and I think these people were watching a different NBA playoffs than I just was.

Shaq dominated Kobe's era. Kobe happened to play on Shaq's team for about half the time.

I get tired of Laker fans trying to compare Kobe to MJ. If the argument forms in front of me I'll either laugh, or openly mock the fact that the subject came up before pointing out that Kobe never came close to MJ in any category and then asking them to look it up and come back to me and prove that I was wrong (because they can't). Then they just start making up abstract s*** and I start laughing again.

Okay, I'm a big Bulls homer, but Scottie is on legendary status and it's distorting his actual contributions... check out his actual career numbers and then look at Gasol's and tell me what you see. Plus, it's not like he proved himself as a leader when he had the opportunity or anything. I know that Gasol is a PF and Pippen was a SF but we're talking about them as the #2 options right? Don't take my word for it. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/pippesc01.html http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/gasolpa01.html

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 20, 2011 -> 08:49 PM) That might be the modern conservative interpretation, but theres that whole "rich man/eye of the needle" thing here. Go sell your possessions and five to the poor and you will have riches in heaven! Yeah... this is one of the reasons I don't go to church. Pray a lot and Jesus will give you money and nice things (this belief is everywhere I go). That is a crock of s***. Anyone who expects THAT out of their faith is doing it wrong.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 19, 2011 -> 04:44 PM) Switched outlets are fairly common, at least in older homes that were built without ceiling fans and light fixtures. That way you can turn on a floor lamp when you walk into the room instead of stumbling around in the dark. But my house is wired similarly. I found out the other day that the mystery breaker in my panel is for the power to half of the basement and half of the upstairs living room. For a while I couldn't use the outside outlet in the front of my house for my weed whacker and I had no idea why, and I also couldn't plug in my Christmas lights. Then (coincidentally a couple of hours after I tried the Christmas lights and left them plugged in) I went to go trim my hair and my shaver wouldn't turn on or charge and I noticed the small breaker on the outlet in my upstairs bathroom was out for some reason. I pressed it in. Then I went back outside to go to the car and I saw the Christmas lights on. I turned the breaker off and the lights went back off, etc. I have NO IDEA why those two things are connected since my bathroom is not even remotely close to the front door.

OMG Balta really? lol. I laughed harder at you than I did 2K5's joke

That Onion post is hilarious, and kind of depressing at the same time. That is one of the biggest reasons people are so easily convinced of the opposite of reality and facts are irrelevant... the most extreme case of confirmation bias

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 20, 2011 -> 12:49 PM) Even if I accepted the moronic notion that flying a plane with a banner = saving souls... If you were the person making that decision, which would be more likely to save yours? It's not really about your actions, it's the faith that's the key, so like 2K5 said, as far as saving your own soul that's actually kind of irrelevant. Yeah, I might not go to church very often but I do know a little more than I pretend to

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 20, 2011 -> 08:31 AM) Today's Merkin Where oh where have you gone, Gordon Beckham... come July or so he'll finally show up too little too late. Like Alexei Ramirez's first few starts with us except for like 80 games.

My homeowner's association just sent me a letter with a bunch of trivial s*** that I have no intentions of doing. a) you didn't ask me if you could put the ugly ass fence in my backyard, so I'm not removing the grapevine, and besides, that's better than the WEEDS growing on it and b) It sounded like you said you were gonna pay to fix the shingles that blew off my roof? No? Oh. Shut the f*** up.

QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ May 19, 2011 -> 01:02 AM) I love this from yahoo news "LeBron James, fighting a cold, led the Heat's big run in the final seven minutes that defeated the Bulls in Game 2." Fighting a COLD???? what is he 5 years old? My lord this makes me want to crush my testes with a melon MJ was like coughing up blood and s*** in his hangover flu game. A cold is not even worth mentioning. Who the hell hasn't had to do something while they had a cold?

I'm not sure there is anywhere in the board software that lets you know something like this

Observation: whenever the Bulls lose a big game, I always discover at least about 2-3 people I know from Chicago (that I grew up with or went to high school with) who randomly become (insert name of other team) fans after the loss, and prior to that point I will usually be completely unaware that they even gave a f*** about basketball. Evidently Jay Mariotti has a lot of kids he doesn't know about.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 18, 2011 -> 11:48 PM) lost, I agree completely, the key on defense against Miami has been that Brewer/Bogans/ can guard both Lebron and Wade (obviously bogans on lebron isnt as ideal but its not like Lebron on Korver). As soon as Korver is out there, Lebron/Wade understand how to pick so that Rose/Deng are forced to switch or try and hedge on Lebron/Wade, that really just cant be your defensive strategy. When Deng/Brewer/Bogans can switch, it just turns the pick into more iso. At one point Lebron actually waived off a pick from Anthony because he realized all it did was bring Taj over to double team. The other problem is that because the Bulls shot so well from behind the 3 point arc the first game, they fell in love with shooting it tonight. 3/20 just isnt a great night. I saw that. If Korver is not in the game down the stretch I doubt if LeBron has the opportunity to hit that big three near the end of the game for the lead (that came soon after the three Korver SHOULD have made).

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 18, 2011 -> 11:39 PM) Not only that but he was inexplicably guarding Wade which meant that he was expending a ton of energy on defense. In the last few series I felt that Korver was a key, but right now the guy is just messing up the entire defensive flow. And the Bulls arent going to out offense Miami, so they might as well play great defensive match ups and hope that Brewer/Bogans can make open shots, because while you have to imagine Korver getting super hot and the stats evening out, but right now hes just cold. Thibodeau had Gibson and Asik in the game for defensive purposes and wanted offense which is why he had Korver, but Korver did absolutely nothing in the second half. I still think Bogans should've been in, he can still hit threes and defend Wade at the same time
-
QUOTE (Felix @ May 18, 2011 -> 11:34 PM) I think a lot of this is just the fact that the Bulls really don't have a second offensive option. The load is always on Rose's shoulders, which is going to wear you down through the course of a postseason. I remember seeing something during the Indiana/Atlanta that his usage rate was in pretty rare company during the postseason. That has to wear you down after awhile. He didn't really look that physically worn down to me until near the end... his head was just lodged firmly in his asshole, like what happens to Westbrook sometimes.
-
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ May 18, 2011 -> 11:25 PM) It's because of Rose that you, myself, and everyone else feels bothered. He wasn't even attempting to drive to the basket, and seemed content with throwing up some ugly shots throughout the game (especially in the 4th). The one time he did drive to the basket he ran straight into like 3 guys and turned it over. That hurt.
-
I'm not one who complains about officiating, and it wasn't making them brick all those shots and did not make Rose have one of his worst games in recent memory, and I'm aware that every message board on the internet is filled with people b****ing about it from the losing team, but the officiating in the first 2 1/2 quarters was f***ing wretched.
-
That was a plain old f***ing chokejob... geez. They tighten up on D to tie the game and Rose has his head up his ass driving into a packed lane and getting stripped (the f*** you think was going to happen) and Korver missing a wide open three that would've taken the lead (if he can't do that what the f*** is he good for?). Ugh. Haslem brought a dimension to the Heat I haven't seen all year. Normally, they just fold and melt down when the D tightens up in the 4th but his s*** was coming out of nowhere and I don't think Thibodeau was ready for that. They still had energy to play tight D in crunch time. Usually they don't.

Watching the thing they had with Rose's brother and Wade's sister, his sister said how Dwyane and her used to live on 59th and Prairie and she said pa-RARE-ee. lol... that's straight Englewood pronunciation right there, only black people from the South Side say that.
