Bears versus Packers game thread

This guy has a Youtube channel and does some pretty awesome analysis of Bears games I should've been posting here all season where he shows blocking assignments, coverage, hits, penetration, etc. that you don't see on TV. Anyway in this video he finds the exact play that Cutler actually gets hurt. It actually was early in the second quarter and not towards the end of the half, so really he was playing the entire quarter with that hurt knee and yes, it was actually affecting his accuracy because you see him hopping on his back foot since he couldn't plant. I don't think there is much of anything that can be said after watching this video, really. -
Not really. What is he doing wrong? (For once?)

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 10:24 PM) They wouldn't put him in one if he wasn't going back in. However, I'm surprised he wasn't wrapped in ice. Wasn't it like 9 degrees? Why would it need ice? -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 08:48 PM) Or they want to use the injury as an excuse for him sucking pretty much the whole game. If it was at the end of the half, what was the problem the rest of the time? Aikman and Buck said he wasn't very accurate warming up, but I really don't know if that means much. Maybe he's getting loose or screwing around. The only guys I really pay much attention to before the game are kickers. This is a full of s*** theory. Who's tried to make excuses for his play in the first half? Either fans, or the organization? Or Cutler himself? -
Did anybody see Joe Biden attempt to clap at a line and then realize he was the only one and tried to play it off after one clap? That was hilarious.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 08:26 AM) This whole line of reasoning is insane. You are encouraging violence, and when it happens (because it's inevitable that someone does punch this douche), I'm blaming you because of your violent rhetoric. Lostfan=Male member of Palin family. lol. This here is some high quality troll baiting. Well played, sir.

Rodgers's line is better and his WRs are in a totally different stratosphere. Knox would be like the 3rd or 4th WR on the Packers. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 06:51 PM) He's now in his 5th year in the league, his 4th as a full time starter, and aside from the 76 rating from 2009 (all the INT's), he's posted a QB Rating of 86-88 in every year of his career. You really do hope that a long term, franchise level QB will take a bigger step forwards at some point (although yeah there are the qualifiers...lots of offensive coordinators, lack of protection in Chicago, the fact that he was viewed as raw coming out). It's too early to start really questioning things with him...but if there's a season next year, you'd really like to see some serious improvement from him. AN 86-88 QB rating is solidly in the middle of the pack for QB's every year, and I don't think that's what the Bears were hoping for when they traded for him. Then they should've got him some f***ing O-linemen and WRs. Yeah I know... dead horse, etc. -
That is just standard Beck ranting. Insert (conspiracy theory to further nefarious plot) controlled by (liberal puppetmaster) which you can verify because (I went to the library/you can find this on Google/this stuff is easily verifiable). The more you read, really, the less you find it has anything to do with ideology as it is just big money looking out for big money, and you can tie virtually everything back to that. Cliche I know, but I can't say I'm wrong..

QUOTE (T R U @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 11:52 PM) cant we just all agree the Bears are who we thought they were and the only people who thought they were any good were Bears fans? For someone to have to wait until the NFC Championship to say they were "right all along" or whatever makes them look like a damn fool. It's a little late at that point so it's meaningless. It's like being that pedestrian who insists on crossing the street whenever the hell they want to, when moving cars are approaching the crosswalk, then getting hit by a car. Hey, you're right, you can cross whenever you want. And you did have the right away. But you still got hit by a god damn car. -
My FB status this morning: i think I would pay to see someone knock Oney Guillen clean the f*** out. I'm not actually trying to encouage violence against him, I'm just saying. A lot of people would love to see that happen.

QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 09:15 PM) well...game log... 2009 - 43.2 and 74.9 2010 - 82.5, 43.5, and 31.8 seems consistently below average to me. he threw 1 TD and 1 INT in his highest rated game (82.5) in this year's first meeting. in today's nfl, i would consider an 82.5 rating average at best Green Bay's defense is a top 3 unit and the mediocre Bears receivers are overmatched by Green Bay's corners (not even getting into the pass protection issues yet). Rodgers's QB ratings are also lower vs. the Bears than his normal QB ratings. -

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 09:09 PM) This defense is geared towards Briggs making the tackle. You remember Tampa with this defense?? Briggs plays Brooks' spot....the WILL. He should be leading this team in tackles every year. Any idea off the top of your head who the MIKE was in Tampa?? Doubtful, because the MIKE is not the star in this scheme. Yet Urlacher who has to drop back in coverage and run all over the field still leads the team in tackles. The Defense is garbage when he isn't there. The only time he hasn't played at a probowl level was when he was playing hurt. I like Briggs...he's a solid player, but Urlacher is the MVP of this defense and easily one of the greatest LB's to ever play the game. That stupid f***in poll. Other players who were labeled as overrated in the poll included Peyton Manning, Michael Vick, Eli Manning, Terrell Owens and Ray Lewis. Hardy Nickerson FWIW. He wasn't really chopped liver. I think Quarles succeeded him. -

It wasn't a coincidence. Both of them matter. Urlacher, probably moreso though. When he is not in the whole thing totally falls apart. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 08:50 PM) How'd the defense look when Briggs doesn't play? Again, simply because Urlacher has a large role in the scheme does not make him impossible to overrate. The fact that he was replaced by Hunter Hillenmeyer and Nick Roach is not proof that Urlacher is brilliant. It just means the dropoff from Urlacher to them was huge. Why does this apply to Urlacher but not Briggs? When Briggs goes out he has the same rotation replacing him. -

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 08:46 PM) The Sam linebacker just isn't nearly as critical as the Mike in this scheme. Briggs is a fantastic player and him being out hurts the defense for sure, but just by nature of his position he isn't as important as Urlacher. He's a WILL... actually... but yeah, not that it's not an important position, but it's still the Robin to the Mike's Batman. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 08:31 PM) I told you exactly what I wanted. Why is it so important to you that you change my mind on this? I am doubtful that the injury is such that, had things been going a little differently, he would have been sitting out the second half. I have explained my reasoning for this in every possible manner I can think of. What more do you want? Not to sound like a dick, but really it's because you keep posting and people are going to reply. -

Jay was limping. I thought everybody could see it. Maybe he should be like Brett Favre and just go through the whole theater of letting everybody know how hurt he was (except for the part where he jumps up and down and sprints after big plays) and start screaming and wriggling in pain for the cameras. The fact that he wasn't doing any of this isn't a point against being tough, it's actually a point in favor if anything. And I really don't want to get into a semantical argument about what Rivers did or didn't say. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 07:30 PM) Wouldn't that be good news for the Bears if Harris retired, as they'd save money out of the deal? Sorta, yeah, I believe he's gotten most of his bonus money already and his cap hit wouldn't be that big.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 07:22 PM) Really? That defense works because of Briggs. How about it works because of both of them, this is not zero sum. Take either one of them out and you see glaring weaknesses. Take out the SAM, not so much, you see dropoff but it's nto crippling.
