  1. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 10:55 AM) I've had this sitting on my PS4 for a solid 8 months. Every time I pop it in it dawns on me what a time commitment it will be to enjoy it and I scare myself away. With 2 kids, one being a newborn, I'm basically stuck playing sports games or single player games that I can pop in and out of whenever I get 30-45 minutes. Yeah, last fall I locked myself away with Fallout 4 for several weeks and came out with a platinum trophy and that's pretty much what I need to do. I'm only 2 or 3 hours into the game, after the part where Geralt meets Yennefer and meets the emperor, and there's at least like 80-100 hours remaining and that's being conservative. I wasn't even gonna buy it but it was on sale on Xbox Live back in the summer for $25, so what the hell.
  2. I figured out that the reason my PC kept killing the SSDs I'd install in it was the UPS I was using had a dead battery, so it wasn't getting "clean" power to my system, and SSDs can't handle that. So now that I replaced that, SSDs are much cheaper than 2 years ago when I originally started, and a 500 GB is good enough to keep as a primary drive with the other one just being used for storage.
  3. I bought the Ezio Collection for Xbox One (surprise! I really like Assassin's Creed and Ezio in particular!) even though I already played and finished all 3 of those games... then I saw Assassin's Creed Liberation on sale in the Playstation Store so I went ahead and downloaded that too. So that's twice now I've gotten the same game on both consoles just because I really liked it the first time (Arkham Knight being the other). But I still gotta at least attempt to make progress in the Witcher 3, Watch Dogs 2, and so on. Such is life for an employed adult gamer.
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 1, 2016 -> 08:19 AM) I finally dug in and decided to beat GTA 5. I'm done with Michael's missions and have about 4 left between Franklin and Trevor. This game is just bananas in its depth. Truly an unreal experience. Looking forward to RDR2 next year. I've been gradually trickling along with this game. I guess I'm about 30 or 40% through with it, I could probably finish it in a few days if I really wanted to, but I got so many games on my Xbox One downstairs that I can never put my focus into it. I love listening to the right-wing radio stations, it's so absurd, but that's how they sound in real life to everyone but themselves, lol. I was playing this at the same time I was playing Sleeping Dogs and the "which side of the street to drive on" thing kept f***ing with me. Just as I get used to Hong Kong I pick GTA up again and I'm driving on the left side crashing into everything. Also Sleeping Dogs is free on the XBone rn.
  5. Authoritarians don't moderate when they assume positions of power.
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 10:07 AM) Tell him Eaton isn't god in CF like he is RF. I did. He's not sure where Eaton's going to play.
  7. The guy who sits next to me at work is a Nats fan and thinks Giolito is going to flame out, will never be more than a 4th starter. idk, I'm inclined to think if that was true, it's less likely to happen with the Sox as it is the Nats, because the Sox as an organization have a very good track record of developing young pitchers both from the farm and in guys they acquired elsewhere.
  8. When terrorists abroad target a building with the brand name of the U.S. president in another country (this is a matter of when, not if - it will happen) how's his f***ing mental midget who gets triggered by SNL and mean tweets going to respond?
  9. Eaton is a quality player on a very reasonable long term contract, it's like he was our secret or something. Now the fact that this is what they would've given us for Sale plus another guy... well, that's why I cracked the joke
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 12:09 AM) The blowback by everyone actually concerns me in regards to our trade of Q. What blowback do you mean? The Nationals for giving up a monster haul?
  11. Is it too late for the Nationals to reboot before the auto save hits?
  12. There wasn't much point in wasting the prime of maybe the 3rd or 4th best pitcher in baseball on the baseball equivalent of a Jeff Fisher-coached team.
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 10:39 AM) It's crazy when the new breitbart makes the old breitbart look like it's nicer cousin, when the old breitbart ruined some great Americans careers for no reason other than sport. I didn't actually think Breitbart had a lower place to sink to, then he died, and... well, here we are, it's a white supremacist site, basically.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 05:37 PM) 99.99% of the country didn't know who the guy was until the media told them he was racist. I f***ing despise Breitbart and anyone associated with it. Just reading the headlines is enough. Reading the comments makes me want to fight people, literally.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 09:26 AM) This kills me to read. Been posting with you for over a decade, your post this morning killed me. My usual reaction to bad news in elections is numbness, then I move on from it. I would pay money to be able to not feel anything right now. This is altogether different.
  16. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 09:17 AM) Nah, they hate women more. They hate ME. I know, I've been paying attention, I know exactly how a large swath of Americans feels about me and the person I am. You know your relationship is over but still sometimes when you hear your spouse say "I don't love you" the words cut you deep.
  17. America hates me. Or maybe it's Americans. I don't know. I mean, I knew that already, but now it's quantifiable.
  18. I know it's corny to bring up your kids when you talk about politics, but I told my son this morning about the election after he got dressed for school and the kid broke out into tears. That really caught me off guard. I'll have you know that neither me nor my wife talks to him about politics, he just had a bad feeling from the hostile vibe he saw from Trump, these are his own feelings. Now he's scared because he thinks people are going to be ugly and hate each other. I'm not naive, I never thought I'd be able to shield him from that, in fact I was really trying to do the opposite. I am not a person who cries often unless someone dies but when he cried, I started to cry too. I wasn't really ready for his reaction and I didn't know what to say to him. I just said "come on buddy, give me a hug, you're gonna be ok." I'm gonna be fine, I'm a hardened combat veteran, but that was soul-crushing. That broke my spirit and there's no fight in me right now. I guess if there's a silver lining to that, it's that the lessons I try to push on my son about treating other people as equals, with respect, dignity, compassion, empathy, etc. are sinking in.
  19. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 07:11 PM) What's everyone watching for coverage? I was watching CNN, but it was annoying me really bad, so I switched to MSNBC until Chris Matthews brought on Giuliani and switched it right back.
  20. When you know the electoral map, this part of the night is just annoying, no s*** Trump won Indiana and Kentucky, no s*** Hillary won Vermont
  21. I really did not expect turnout to be this high. Obama's record is 61%, so I'm gonna be keeping an eye on it, curious to see where this goes.
  22. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 04:03 PM) And some PA/Philly news The Clinton campaign dodged a bullet in PA with the transit strike settling yesterday morning in time for the election.
  23. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 03:40 PM) Why aren't they tested/calibrated before actual votes are cast? Seems like a no brainer. idk, thousands of pieces of electronic equipment, sometimes it doesn't work like it's supposed to. I've seen it happen in the other direction too, where Clinton voters had their vote going to Trump. If they went to the rest of the ballot then similar things would happen.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 03:37 PM) OMG that judge's reaction to the request to make public the workers at the polling place is downright epic. link me
