  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 12:37 PM) Hey I was doing it in 2006! Twitter and Facebook didn't exist yet.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 12:14 PM) Name a recent bears injury where the information we were given was correct. Under Fox anyway. Trestman/Emery was actually pretty forthcoming about this stuff.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 11:50 AM) Yeah, the differences between Clinton to Bush, and then Bush to Obama are just unreal. Ronnie might as well have existed in the stone age. Obama was the first politician to use social media as a big part of his campaign too. That was pretty unprecedented in 2008. Now everyone is doing it.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 11:44 AM) During Obama's term, technology has taken gigantic leaps which has caused a media explosion. In July 2008 we were just given the Iphone 3g, or the second iphone version. Twitter had just started and was just a blip compared to what it is today. We've never had the ability to follow candidates like this before. Obama said he's the most-photographed person who ever lived, he's probably right. It's not that Bush didn't exist in the internet era, but it took giant leaps under Obama.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 11:23 AM) Was the White House Correspondents Dinner covered as much pre-YouTube/broadband connections? I don't recall 90s seeing references to it, not really until Colbert and Lewis Black were hosts do I recall seeing it get much info. Now that more people watch that, the "comedic president" is getting better writers. I remember Bush doing it and Clinton, but really only if you watched the news, and you'd see a few clips and that was it (maybe cable news would replay it at night). It wasn't an instant viral thing. The first time I ever remember seeing an Al Smith dinner was in 2008.
  6. "Next man up" is a cute thing that coaches say but the Bears weren't really in a position to lose so many of their best players in such a short amount of time. On offense they lost Grasu in camp, then Cutler, Sitton, White, Royal, Long, and Langford. The Langford and WR injuries didn't hurt that bad since Howard is better, and they have decent depth at WR, but it's still an overall downgrade. On defense they lost Goldman, McPhee, Trevathan, and Fuller... ouch. That's most of the teeth in their defense.
  7. Hoyer is the backup QB the Bears have always wanted (McCown's fluky year notwithstanding), but Barkley is just another one.
  8. I got fillings on both sides of my mouth this morning: 1. I let him drill my teeth before the novocain actually set in, which is basically the worst feeling ever 2. I can't feel s***... I tried to drink water and spilled it all over my face. Currently carefully trying to sip coffee.
  9. The Bears somehow got themselves in 3rd and Milwaukee.
  10. Of course Hoyer's arm would break. Why wouldn't it?
  11. I once went to Orange County and I was even in Irvine, but couldn't get a hold of Jason. He sucks and is a bad admin
  12. After this, republicans deserve a 26 year old black transgender female atheist radical intersectional feminist lesbian Planned Parenthood employee who wears an Afro and a Black Lives Matter t-shirt with a picture of Colin Kaepernick on it.
  13. I've used early voting in Maryland in the past but I don't like it. Too crowded, voting on Election Day is about a 15 minute line, in and out.
  14. Most of the things that people think is classified about our nuclear arsenal are things Russia already knows, and has for decades, because of various treaties (and vice versa).
  15. The anti-Clinton arguments in this thread have really made me think. This website makes some good points. http://www.votefortrumppence.com/
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 10:58 AM) Surprised the usual Trump faithful aren't hear bragging about how well he did in the bot-fueled, post-debate instapolls. LOL He somehow didn't win the Breitbart poll.
  17. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Oct 18, 2016 -> 01:24 PM) The Feds really opened Pandora's Box when they instituted RICO on Chicago gang leadership. What little order there was has completely dissolved. Gangs actually policed themselves somewhat. Violence is bad for business. Now it's absolutely lawless. Accurate. They were TOO effective at dismantling the gangs. The kids now who weren't around in the 90s weren't brought up in the old gang culture that actually had rules. They don't respect anyone or anything. I got friends involved in New Era Chicago, trying to patrol neighborhoods and do something about this. They were on CBS News last night.
  18. Late term abortions are rare and they're only done when something really, really wrong is happening (the woman's life is threatened, the baby is no longer viable, etc.). It's a last resort. Nobody carries a baby all the way to term and decides "you know what, f*** it, I don't want this baby anymore." That's what happens when it's mostly men talking about abortion at the national level, they really don't know what the f*** they're talking about.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 09:49 AM) No, he doesnt. Technically that 9th month abortion Trump talked about where babies are ripped from the womb is called birth..... I was going to say this My son was born by C-section. Is that technically an abortion? Should I stop taking care of him or...?
  20. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 12:19 AM) I was more surprised we hadn't seen him out there. After talking a bit in Trump's camp he seemed to dissapear (or maybe I'm misremembering). All I know is I'm more and more ready to elect Paul Ryan in 4 years He's been out there, he's actually just not very good as a political pundit. He doesn't make much sense and doesn't really know what he's talking about most of the time.
  21. Carson makes a fool of himself every time he speaks.
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 12:05 AM) Oh, I think he's horrendous. I also happen to think Hillary is horrendous too, though. I think she has shown absolutely horrific judgement and moral character time and time again (this is ignoring my differing views on policy). If she wasn't such a crook, I'd actually vote for her. At least she isn't horrifically liberal in comparison to other democrats. I disagreed more on Bernie's policies but believed in who he was. Then there is Trump, who is downright disgusting. I think Hillary and Trump are both bad, but in different ways. Hillary is bad like processed sugar. Trump is bad like crack cocaine. So I can either eat some cookies, or smoke rocks. That's pretty easy I think.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 11:59 PM) By the way, for those of you saying Trump was unhinged, I largely thought the opposite. I was really expecting him to be fully unhinged (even by his standards) and instead he was far calmer than I could have ever anticipated (again, this is not based on normal candidate standards but Trump standards). he was better than the other two debates, mostly in control of himself, but still disqualifyingly bad by normal standards. I just can't picture Romney debasing himself like this.
  24. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 11:49 PM) I think the missing lede in this debate was Hillary's answer on abortion. Her defense of abortion, particularly late term abortion was one of the most honest, bold defenses of Roe v Wade I've ever seen in a campaign. Trump made it sound like women get late term abortions for fun, on a whim. This is usually a life or death type situation, and always a last resort.
