  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 11:29 PM) I think we should really get rid of the townhall format. This works better. Takes a good moderator to keep control though. Wallace did a really good job I thought.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 10:06 PM) Trumps understanding of the government is shockingly bad. He either doesn't know or doesn't give a s*** what a U.S. senator does.
  3. Trump apologists love to bring up Gore and the Florida recount. Bush actually is the one who brought that to federal court, not him.
  4. Trump made Gary Johnson look like an Aleppo expert. Dude had no idea what he's talking about. If he was writing a book report on To Kill a Mockingbird he would start it off with "the best way to kill a mockingbird is..."
  5. Georgia is much more competitive than its supposed to be. If Obama had another term he might have been very close to turning it blue.
  6. Someone accidentally closed this thread. I'd open it back but I don't have the mod tools to do it.
  7. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 17, 2016 -> 03:07 PM) I think his net average is the worst in the NFL actually. It was last week. Tress Way (the guy they cut for O'Donnell) has been about the same, for what that's worth.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 17, 2016 -> 02:58 PM) Here I figured he was going to join a nice Mujahadeen. Nah, he's too old for that now.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 17, 2016 -> 02:51 PM) While it seems popular now because it always seemed that Hillary had the White House in mind, I see no scenario where Michelle Obama runs for an office. I think she is done with politics. What really interests me is what Barack Obama does after the White House. He's gonna retire to Kenya and open up a masjid.
  10. I don't think the House is in play. The GOP will definitely lose a double-digit number of seats, but they've also partially insulated themselves from Trump somehow, and Democrats need to outdo Republicans by something like 7-8 million on the generic ballot to actually get a majority (which they can't hold).
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 17, 2016 -> 02:23 PM) I am 100% certain you'll never see Michelle Obama continue in an actual political position. She seems to want to go back to a more normal life ASAP. She was reluctant to go to Washington in the first place (note how she stayed in Chicago when her husband was in the Senate). But she COULD if she wanted. She's extraordinarily talented. She's got no interest in putting herself through that grind, though.
  12. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Oct 17, 2016 -> 01:06 PM) That game was 2/3rd's amazing. The middle third, the entire side trip to Mexico, was such a bore. It took me forever to get through. The 1st and 3rd portions were amazing though. Even with that crappy middle section it's still one of the best games ever. Really? I liked the Mexico parts. It's just that by then, most of the game is open to you, so you have tons of time to f*** around not really doing s***.
  13. I would be disappointed while buying the f*** out of a remaster.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 17, 2016 -> 12:49 PM) Dan Long @DLoExpress Alshon Jeffery on what the Bears need to do to turn yards into points: "Capitalize in the red zone and s***" 5:31 PM - 9 Oct 2016 Adam Hoge ✔ @AdamHoge Alshon Jeffery: “We gotta score fuc**** touchdowns. That’s it. Touchdowns win games. s***. You see what three points get us.” #Bears 4:11 PM - 16 Oct 2016 They're dead last in points per game (by a comfortable margin) but thank God Hoyer has 4 straight 300-yard games and hasn't thrown any picks!
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 17, 2016 -> 12:46 PM) Yes, there was a point a few weeks ago where we were talking about whether Clinton's deep poverty plan would reinforce culture of lack of work or would pull out families from poverty and that was so refreshing. Because Trump has no policy, he has made this a character indictment of him, and then a de facto character indictment of Clinton. That would be there with any candidate (re clinton). Which in some ways is nice because the dems have put forth the most progressive platform of my lifetime and it is not even a contention point. In other ways, I think these policies are important and that they aren't vetted at all on national level will lead to a lot of obstruction arguments that "the people didn't want this". In 2008 - you knew health care reform was coming. It was the topic of the season. What will be Clinton's top priority? It's hard to know. There is no one really asking policy questions. I feel like she's covered this ground. She's discussed climate change, income inequality, expanded childcare, investment in infrastructure, and criminal justice reform off the top of my head. But every time people start discussing her policies in any kind of detail they get drowned out by the latest Trump fart noises.
  16. I'm going to miss the First Lady, there wasn't one like her and there probably won't be another. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/17/t-magazi...etter.html?_r=0
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 17, 2016 -> 11:25 AM) Interesting stat (courtesy of Dan Patrick), but the last three rookie QB's to win in Lambeau are: Dak Prescott, Matt Ryan, and Cade McNown Didn't expect to hear Cade's name mentioned with anything good. Believe this might have been the "Walter Payton" game. You are correct.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 17, 2016 -> 11:18 AM) I am OK with bringing in a rookie QB into a fairly simple offense to grow into. I mean you can always add to it, or you can fire Fox and bring in a next level offensive guy. It seems like the worst thing you can do to a rookie is try too much versus not enough. I am also confident that Bears fans will be patient and objective with a new QB, not at all have unrealistic expectations, won't divide into factions of people who ignore things they don't like one way or another, and the next guy won't benefit from a "not being Jay Cutler" honeymoon that will abruptly end 2/3 of the way through his rookie season.
  19. Because of their regression, the Bears are in a good position to acquire a franchise QB, but even assuming they don't blow the pick, I don't trust the Fox regime with a young QB.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 17, 2016 -> 10:25 AM) I mean, he's a backup though. I don't want Hoyer to be a longterm starter, but I'm content with the org taking the opportunity of this season to truly tank and make a clean break into new era. But, for what we paid him to do, Hoyer is good. I mean, we've seen Claussen, Hanie, I don't even remember the guy who Hanie replaced. Todd Collins? Jason Campbell was crap when I thought he would be best backup we've had when he signed. I think I'm talking about the "he's thrown 300+ in all his games and has no turnovers" with all the implications that has when people mention it. People are giving that importance that it doesn't have.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 16, 2016 -> 11:14 PM) That said...you can still run a passing offense with Hoyer. He is alone with Josh McCown of true backups that you can run an offense with. *Shane Matthews/ Jim Miller don't count as that was not offense. McCown didn't play scared though. He just played. His production was definitely a bubble but it didn't matter. Hoyer seems like he's aware that he's in a bubble.
  22. Rockstar is teasing Red Dead Redemption 2 (or a remaster of RDR, or both)
  23. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 17, 2016 -> 09:37 AM) I never understood getting pissed at someone who makes bank at giving speeches. How is that crooked? It's not. Just about anyone whose name puts them in the market to do that does it. Why wouldn't they? It's easy money. It's not illegal or even unethical. It's honest money. It's no more crooked than athletes getting 8-figure contracts.
  24. I can't think of a QB I've watched who generates so much offensive volume but has so little impact on the game as Hoyer. I guess he is the perfect John Fox quarterback. He simply exists, and he doesn't really do much for the game positively or negatively. He's so god damn timid in the red zone, it's like he knows everyone notices he has no interceptions and as soon as he throws one the bubble will pop. He's just the latest guy to show up and milk the f*** out of Not Being Jay Cutler. This was a vintage John Fox loss. Technically show up to play the game, do the minimum, allow yourself to lose. You just know that at the end of the game, Fox was playing for a field goal even though he had 2 minutes to score a touchdown.
  25. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 16, 2016 -> 04:45 PM) Why does literally no one care about the horrible stuff coming out of Clinton email leaks? Clinton supporters just blame Russia or blame the messenger. Why are you so beholden to Clinton?? How can intelligent people support her and not at least be outraged over these emails? How many times are you going to ask this same question, ignore the answer, respond by posting a link to something Sean Hannity said, and then be bewildered when someone snaps on you?
