  1. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 05:01 PM) Would the Bears go after Jordan Gross to play RT if he became a FA and cut John Tait I wonder? Gross is probably one of the best 2 or 3 RT's in the league. They probably have the salary cap space to do it, I don't really understand Angelo's mode of thinking with the O-line though. I gave up trying after last year when they could've signed any number of mid-range FA guards and didn't. To his credit, Beekman has been ok.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 04:48 PM) Not to be confused with . Oh s*** I was gonna reply by posting a Youtube video of the Perculator not knowing that's what you posted. lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7c7CCayKXxE
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 04:50 PM) Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand hyperbole ruins another thread in the Buster. Thanks for playing. He was just being sarcastic, it was pretty lame though.
  4. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 04:49 PM) If you are going to say that all people who choose to carry or own guns for defense are deranged lunatics, then no logical argument can be had. You render any discussion pointless. Which is why I'm done. Everyone should know that just because I'm against certain forms of gun control doesn't make me or anyone else a freaky gun nut (although there are definitely some who are completely obsessed) and it's kind of retarded to talk to anyone who acts like they think otherwise. Actually I haven't really seriously had anything to add since Duke parachuted into the thread b/c I know all of his arguments (I use the term loosely) basically by heart and I know it'll never go anywhere.
  5. And so ends my participation in this thread.
  6. With LBs, especially MLBs, they live and die by the play of the DTs which this year was inconsistent at best. Ray Lewis said something to the effect of "put a fat guy in front of me and I can play forever." Brown is still excellent in run support but was pretty average in coverage. The FS play wasn't that great though. The whole thing is a symbiotic relationship. You can't have one without the other.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 04:32 PM) Dont be convinced, he is a s***ty GM. If you cant fault picks that he had made, who can you fault? Lady Luck? The Noah pick was terrible from the min Pax thought about taking him. I hated him for his skills and still do. Aldridge was considered a perfect fit for the Bulls, what does Pax do? Trades him for a "project" player that wasnt very good in college. His time is UP. Its funny how people can attack Kenny Williams on this site but give a free pass to probably the worst GM in this city. lol I said a little. I still want him fired.
  8. You guys are convincing me to back down from my recent Pax hatred a little. I agree that not all of those moves are his fault. Some of them just backfired horribly.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 04:09 PM) I would have to disagree here, I think the secondary was horrible because they are horrible. We dont have a pro-bowl DB in the bunch and our defense would be that much better if the QB ignored one half of the field. The secondary wasn't THAT bad. Tillman was about the same as he ever was, Vasher was awful, but the guys filling in for Vasher did a good job. The problems in the secondary had to do with the opposing QB simply having too much time to throw (see TB, ATL, etc.) and bad playcalling (see just about every 3rd and long where a post was called and completed easily). The seams in the defense were gaping wide.
  10. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 04:13 PM) If you are comfortable carrying a deadly weapon whose sole purpose is to kill a target on your waist you're a deranged lunatic. *white flag*

It's definitely the alternator. It affects everything electrical in the car when it happens. You know it's not the starter because when you turn the key nothing happens. If the battery was just low then it'd at least attempt it before dying, if there was something wrong with the starter everything else would work and it'd just click and fail to start. Should cost you about $80-100 to fix. (I had this happen before)
  12. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 04:07 PM) Because what if you miss? I have a basic right to not get shot by an idiot with a handgun who tried to be the hero and hit me instead. You carrying a loaded gun around everyone is a direct violation of that right. You're not being just responsible for yourself, you're assuming responsibility for everyone. I dont want a deranged gun nut lunatic protecting me. He just got done saying that whole line of reasoning was a straw man
  13. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 04:02 PM) Would you prefer to attend a party where only the thugs have guns, or where there are more guns and both the thugs and responsible individuals have guns? To me, it's really this simple. Anything else is canceled out by this piece of logic.
  14. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 03:59 PM) The last thing I'd ever want to do is shoot someone. As just about anyone who's ever had to do it can tell you, it sticks with you for a long, long time. However, I hope I wouldn't hesitate for a second if they posed a threat to my loved ones or myself. I've been to combat FWIW. Which admittedly is a totally different scenario but if my life is involved, there won't be much hesitation if any. Doubly true if it involves my kids.
  15. As far as the O-line, we should all pretty much get used to the idea that Garza is not going anywhere, Beekman probably isn't either. Kreutz has declined quite a bit in the last couple of years but he's not going anwhere either, but if he did, Beekman can play C. I wonder what happened to LeCharles Bentley? He was supposed to be healthy enough to play this year but nobody signed him. I guess he couldn't pass a physical. Crossing my fingers and assuming Chris Williams can play (he looked decent to me physically in the limited sample size I had to work with), we definitely need another OT, because Tait's in the twilight of his career.
  16. My house got broken into a year ago and you had best believe if I had been present and armed that there would've been a couple rounds expended. I've got kids. I don't f*** around with that.
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 03:43 PM) Those things have never happened to me at this stage of my life and I won't add extra layers of stress to my life thinking about it. I also haven't bought duct tape and saran wrap in case there's a terrorist attack but maybe I should consider it. Heck, might as well buy a parachute too in case my next flight is involved in a bird strike. So then don't buy a gun. Your choice. No big deal.
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 03:36 PM) And those are the 2 words I'd used to describe the idea of letting more people walk around carrying guns. Either way, that particular argument doesn't do anything to make your point. It's like saying "you got a cat to help with your mouse problem but what are you going to do if the cat gives you rabies?"
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 03:29 PM) So you'd prefer everyone walk around with a gun on them? And what would really happen if a guy came up to you and put a gun to your head? Would you really have time to pull your gun out and defend yourself? These examples are ridiculous and extreme.
  20. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 02:30 PM) If you ask me, the Bears' biggest need is in the secondary. S and CB are definitely a priority. I think they may go second round with OL, but more likely the 3rd since they want to see what they have in Chris Williams. Eh a S maybe, but it's not an immediate need, not more than DE anyway. The secondary was horrible mainly because of the anemic pass rush. Without that the entire defense is worthless. The Bears have never had world-beater corners, and they have Corey Graham and Trumaine McBride who are adequate for now.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 03:24 PM) Unless Michael Crabtree shockingly slips (won't happen), there's no WR worth drafting in the first round, IMO. Agreed on the value concept, but I'm just saying there is plenty to be said about having a decent WR, it shouldn't matter that the Bears are a run-first offense.
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 16, 2009 -> 02:50 PM) Congratulations! You've just told the entire board about your wife's monster dumps! lol. Women in general use a ridiculous amount of toilet paper. I was stunned when I first moved in with her like "are you f***ing serious, the TP is gone ALREADY?"
  23. Drafting a WR helps out the run game immensely. Forte could probably average 4.5 yards a carry if he didn't have to run against 8 in the box all the time.
  24. My wife and stepdaughter both use an insane amount of toilet paper. I love how my wife never buys any, though. So every few months I get done and realize the roll is done, and I go to the closet to get more, and there is none. Since I have 3 bathrooms and she never uses the one in the basement I've started hiding TP in there so she can't f*** it up but that still means I have to tiptoe down the stairs.
