QUOTE (Texsox @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 10:50 AM) I believe SS just posted he's being tried for insulting a foreign leader, not assault. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20081222/ts_nm/...aq_bush_shoes_2 Not so much. I don't think that's what SS was getting at, though.
-
So I got my quarterly report from BP, and good god did my stocks take a s*** in the last quarter.
-
Nobody cares about the insult though. Hell, I'm certain that Bush gets insulted much worse than that on a daily basis. But throwing an object at someone is assault, plain and simple (I just threw a pen at my gov't boss a few minutes ago though, lol).
-
If an American threw a shoe at Bush, Blagojevich, or Obama, they'd be facing charges, too.
-
If anything, Bush downplayed it too much. He started talking about how you can do that in a democracy or things to that effect. No... you can't. It's not a sign of progress.

Are we talking about economies of scale?

QUOTE (Texsox @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 09:15 AM) A good analogy would be a foreign President demanding a US citizen be jailed for flipping him off while he is here in the US. Imagine if the President of Turkey expected Turkish laws be followed in the US while he is here. Again, from what I am reading, where it happened, which is the point of the conversation, it is the equivalent of flipping someone off and not a jailable offense. Are you suggesting that US laws should be enforced around the world? It may be assault based on US laws. But this did not happen in the US. He's being tried under their laws and he is facing prison time, what do our laws matter?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 08:54 AM) If it wasn't meant to harm, why throw it? He could have held it up and made his point all of same, by pointing at the bottom of it and telling him what he was saying. That just wouldn't make any sense at all, it'd be like making a fist at someone and pointing to it and telling them to imagine your middle finger is raised. They'd look at you like you were retarded.

He's not as bad as Madden. I facepalmed when they showed the "would the Packers be in the playoffs question without Favre"? question. Something like 60% of the country said yes. Really? So you downgrade to a less productive QB who throws more interceptions and that gets you in the playoffs? I guess Favre plays defense too. Rodgers is the answer for that team, plain and simple. IMO they did absolutely the right thing by finally calling Favre on his drama queen act. -

Oh and that Soldier Field crowd was ROCKING last night. It may as well have been a playoff game. -

Kornheiser was talking about how the offense sucked and the booing was half-hearted because the fans are so used to it they don't have the energy to be mad anymore. Later he talked about how the WRs were ranked 29th in the NFL and the Chicago fans had to be thinking "tell me something I don't know?" because it's the same thing every year with this team. Kornheiser is a terrible announcer, but he was spot-on with this. -
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 12:43 AM) JD on 1000 today said something about how if the Raiders can stop Johnson, the Bears will. Hey dumba**, the Raiders have THE best cover-CB in football. You can say ass, I promise I won't ban you

I was flipping out for most of the game, but god what an awesome game.

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 22, 2008 -> 11:26 PM) A. Peterson continues to be a waste of a roster spot this season. Stupid penalty, but he's played well on ST this year. It's having him in there running when he does nothing that I have a problem with. -

Forte gets hot, so what does Ron Turner do? Call like 5 run plays in a row. -

QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Dec 22, 2008 -> 11:12 PM) I dont care he if throws 4 interceptions, I want to see Hanie starting vs the Texans. We will have nothing to play for looks like it, maybe see if he can show any flashes of being good. I'd put the odds of that happening at about 1 in 100. This is the team that wouldn't play Josh freaking Beekman (who is now starting on this O-line and not playing half bad) when they were eliminated from the playoffs last year. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 22, 2008 -> 05:35 PM) The Pacific ocean along the western U.S. tends to act as something of a buffer. It brings a lot of moisture with it, but the current that flows down from Alaska keeps many of the cities between the ocean and the mountain ranges perched a little too warm for snow. For as much s*** as I talk about Ron Turner, this offense has exceeded my expectations by quite a bit. Which isn't saying a whole lot, but is still something. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 22, 2008 -> 10:57 PM) G-reg is a Pro-Bowl caliber TE Except for that one game early in the season where he was a 6'5" turd. Hopefully that just ends up being the worst game of his career. Otherwise, Olsen is great, and Clark is also good so he's a luxury. -

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 22, 2008 -> 10:53 PM) Rex was no better than what Kyle's doing now. Don't kid yourself. They're both mediocre-bad QB's. Yes, thank you. This is what I've been saying since the beginning of the year. Bashing Orton is not a de facto endorsement of Rex.
