  1. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 03:20 PM) If the game is fun, people will play it. It doesnt have to be blue ray to bring in the guy who wants to play an RPG or MMO Maybe... QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 03:23 PM) More power to them if they could pull it off. I just doubt the hardcore gamer would play a graphically inferior version of a game on a Wii if they can get a better version of it on other platforms. And maybe. I kind of agree with you both, Nintendo's current formula is obviously VERY successful business-wise, and I'm sure they want to widen their market share, but at the same time, they don't really need to. They're in kind of an odd position where they don't compete directly with their competition. But that's not saying they can't be doing more - there's plenty of "fun for everyone" type of games, but they can also be drawing in the more traditional gamers with traditional quality games. On the other hand, if you're a 3rd party developer who wants to produce a game like that - why would you do it on the Wii when you can make the game much better, and probably easier, for the Xbox or PS3?
  2. QUOTE (Shadows @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 02:39 PM) I said it blows as the only source of gaming, not all the time because I have a Wii at my disposal and yes some of the games you listed are fun.. but, like I said, as the only source of gaming, it blows, It would blow for you or me, not so much their target audience though. I can't say the Wii blows even if its hardware is pretty far inferior to the other 2 systems and PC games though, I mean, what a marketing coup by Nintendo.
  3. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 02:28 PM) I think we all have determined which systems we like. I like playing Super Mario Galaxy, Zelda, World of Goo, Rampage, MarioKart, Spiderman Friend or Foe and plenty of other games by myself. It doesnt blow as much as you think it does, and I know it isnt as great of a piece of hardware like PS3 and the 360, I dont need to be told every time I bring up the system that I play Exchanges between owners of different systems tend to be much, much worse in other places than they get in this thread. I haven't seen too many fanboy arguments in here which is a relief, I still people getting pretty territorial though. Reading various places on the internet though I think the most obnoxious are PS3 owners (who are by default Blu-Ray fanboys in the format wars), they've calmed down recently though. I don't know how someone could get so emotionally attached to a piece of hardware, I mean WTF.
  4. I love the Wii, but I definitely need my steady diet of the heavyweight games.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 09:08 PM) I've had vision insurance through work for 3 years and haven't gone to a doctor yet. I definitely will after the holidays though. I had to tell my wife about 30 times before she finally went. It kind of started to get annoying b/c when she drives, she'd be like "can you read that sign"? And I'm like wtf, is wearing glasses really that difficult?
  6. Yeah, seriously, Aaron Gray f***ing blows. Sweet Jesus is he bad. By the way, someone tell me why I was looking at the Clippers' lineup, and sitting here wondering where Kobe was? I am retarded.
  7. Today at work we had a Christmas party that was like a potluck, you either bring a dish or contribute 5 dollars. I did neither and helped myself. I figure, there was another party I was supposed to go to on Friday that I gave money for and was too busy to go, so f*** it.
  8. I'm pretty sure Hitler had a half-brother or something, if I'm not mistaken he moved out of Germany (maybe to the US, I forget) and changed his name.
  9. I don't see pizza on that table which is unacceptable.
  10. TT is just wildly inconsistent. When he's on, he's as explosive as anybody in the league. When he's off, he f***ing sucks, unfortunately his ratio of great to s***ty games is about 1:2 at best.
  11. That's fine, I don't want to cause any damage to those balls. After all, her man isn't the one that threw a half-full cup of coffee in the trash that spilled on my suit when I tried to take it out.
  12. Heh, if it is a woman, I will still kick them in the same general area.
  13. I think there really is something to that though. Some people really are TOO into MMOs and can't separate the two. I know when I was really into EQ2 and WOW for a couple of years, my social life took a dump, and it was always the first thing I did when I came home. It didn't affect my work performance but I could see how it could affect some people. Eventually I just had to quit, which is harder than it sounds b/c of all the social interaction.
  14. So I just took out the trash, and it was leaking because some asshole put a non-empty cup of coffee in the trash can. If I catch someone doing that, it's an automatic kick in the balls.
  15. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 12:58 PM) Yes, I like my coffee like I like my women...bitter.... Yes, I like my coffee like I like my men...Hot, Black and Strong.... Aha, you've done the work for me.
  16. QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 09:49 PM) I know OC isn't a popular guy among his teammates (or the fans), but really, these blanket statements about how terrible a ballplayer/defender he is are getting ridiculous. You don't win Gold Gloves and the Best Defensive Player of the Year Award when there's another player on your own team that is by far a better defender than you. Go ahead and reply about the calls to the official scorer and whatnot. If you can't see for yourself that OC is a great defender, then I don't know what you were watching all season. Yawn. Do you even know what my opinion on Orlando Cabrera is or are you just kind of attempting to read between the lines and talk out of your ass? Nowhere in that post did I say that Cabrera is a bad defender, and the worst I can ever recall saying on this board is that he's overrated. I believe Cabrera is a very good defender and overall an above-average player, but nothing like what I expected him to be after reading all the hype, especially defensively. From what I saw of this past year what with him booting balls around, lobbing balls to first, and the amount of times I saw in the stat box "Player X singles to left, deflected off O. Cabrera" I wonder how he won Gold Gloves... actually I don't, because the Gold Glove is really a meaningless award anymore. I believe Uribe is an elite defensive player (who's probably declined some), but who is a terrible hitter that necessitated an upgrade at SS to a better player.
  17. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 11:36 AM) And you should be drinking your coffee like a man! Black! lol, I was going to make a funny edit here but i'll be nice. Here, we have people taking out the sugar spoon to stir their coffee. I hate that... how the hell do you expect the next guy to scoop up sugar?
  18. No, no, that's not what I meant. Of course that was pretty much what the whole topic of discussion was about. I'm talking about how people try to pass off opinion as fact, as if what they say is an absolute certainty, which happens all the time and is pretty common in political discussions. example: "Barack Obama is just way too liberal for America, they're not going to be able to stomach him." There's about 3 or 4 things wrong with that statement right off the bat but I heard it quite often, and the people who said it seemed to really believe it and not just be speculating.
  19. In March if I had to guess what I'd been saying, it would be that it's March, and makes no sense to try and predict way into November because a lot of things could happen.

    Whopper Virgins

The only one I know of in Chicago anymore is on 55th and the Dan Ryan. There used to be a lot of them.
  21. Coffee is no hassle. You know what is? Nodding off at your workstation and during meetings. I don't like that I have to use whitener on my teeth all the time to counteract what it does, though.
  22. QUOTE (Texsox @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 08:57 AM) And of course there is a difference if it's just some job you are working, or starting on a career path. Yeah, I was at a company like that. Then after a few promotions went to the guys that were not "team players" and hanging out after work partying with us, we took notice. Something about trusting a $2,000,00 client with someone who was trying to out run the cops last night when they caught him taking a leak on the side of a building. When I realized how much rides on b.s. images, you tend to find a different group to party with. Now it's more warnings about what is on your Facebook page, etc. It sucks when you try for that great position at XYZ Corp and your image is partying every night. Far better to keep your private life private around work. Mine is def. a career, but I don't go into TOO much detail, neither does anyone else, but we still tell funny stories. I told ppl about the time when I was 21 and I got smashed and passed out in the street in Atlanta once, but I make sure to emphasize that was years ago and now I'm an adult. Or more recently I told people how I was at home by myself drunk and I somehow hit my head on the top of the door frame and ended up on my ass kind of stunned wondering how I got there. We all have senses of humor so it's cool. There's work, and then the other stuff... I share some of it but I keep it PG-13 for work.

I had Wendy's last night. For some reason McDonald's just doesn't taste good to me anymore, and I burned myself out on Burger King a few years ago. Why'd Wendy's get rid of the Big Bacon Classic in favor of the Baconator? The Baconator sucks, it's like half a dead pig on a cheeseburger with no other ingredients. If I wanted that much bacon I'd just go to Bob Evans.
  24. We discuss after-hours partying at my job, but then again we're a bunch of 20-somethings and we have pretty cool bosses.
