  1. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 11:31 PM) Me too, on the first part. Not so sure o nthe second one, though. The part about being wrong or the part about it only stalling his political career? He's still pretty popular in IL-2, I'd say.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 05:18 PM) So, Jesse Jr's lawyer of all people, said he thinks that he is Senate Candidate 5. Some lawyer. Jesse Jr denies. haha, wtf. I guess as a response I'll use both my new sig and the old text.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 04:06 PM) I think the court filing makes it clear that they had some discussions about it, whether directly or through subordinates. How else would he wind up being so repeatedly called a "M-F" by the Governor. I just got immediately uncomfortable with what I saw as an unnecessary denial and retraction flying out of the Obama camp, combined with the "I don't want to comment on an ongoing investigation" statement we got yesterday. After the last 8 years (Hi Lostfan!) that instantly makes me queasy. The call on him to resign is a much better move. /highfive
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 03:21 PM) I think the only way to pull this off effectively is to make sure you schedule a meeting with senior management and your co-workers later in the morning. Make sure you begin drinking at least 2 hours before the meeting. Good idea, I was thinking of doing it in the morning. I was gonna drink the whole thing at once before leaving the house, and then get in my car and drive to work as fast as I could so I could avoid getting a DUI (I would have a buffer of about 20-30 minutes before the alcohol starts to take effect).
  5. Sometimes at work I tell people funny stories about things I do when I'm hammered, and my co-workers seem to like them. I'm thinking of waking up early on Friday to drink a pint of rum so I can demonstrate first-hand accounts of some of these stories. Is this a good idea?
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 02:46 PM) I just tried it with this post and BS's below it and I only get yours? Not "reply" on the post itself. It's "Add Reply" at the bottom which normally brings up a fresh window.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 02:38 PM) Boy do i feel stupid. I was manually cutting and pasting stuff together. lol. I used to do that too.
  8. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 02:31 PM) I agree with what tex, ss2k5, and lost all said. BTW, I think we could use a "multiquote" button to quote more than one person in a reply. There already is, instead of hitting reply, click quote on the ones you want to quote (they turn red) and then go to "add reply."
  9. I think Tex summed it up best a few posts ago. It sounds like to me that Obama is trying to avoid having to testify. Having the president or president-elect involved would make it even more of a circus.
  10. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 9, 2008 -> 10:38 PM) Bulls>Knicks just like old times. New times = Derrick Rose > National Basketball Association
  11. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 12:11 PM) Hey now, let's leave the Cowboys out of this. Just commenting on the irony. I'm not a Cowboys hater, I'm a sports media hype hater.
  12. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 01:46 PM) Like father like son, hopefully this will end his political career and save many of us a giant migraine. If Jesse Jr. was ever appointed to the senate... he would have have been there until death. I've always given Jesse Jr. the benefit of the doubt, as being different from his father. I guess I was wrong. edit: I'd be surprised if it did more than stall his political career, actually.
  13. Jesse Jackson Jr. apparently Senate Candidate 5 after all. http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/ConductUnbec...1739&page=1 If true, very dumb of him.
  14. There are only a handful of teams in MLB who can absorb the financial impact of a long-term deal that goes bad early in the contract. It's not about the actual amount of money, but the years. It really gets old seeing the market automatically narrow like that.
  15. I knew I was forgetting something.
  16. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 10:32 AM) Question: I'm bleeding copiously from the mouth and rectum. I'm sure it's nothing and I don't want to sound like a nervous ninny, but I just want to get a second opinion. No worries. Although the bleeding is inconvenient, you can stop it by eating plenty of acidic foods (like with tomatoes or vinegar) and drinking large amounts of coffee, Coke, and citrus-based drinks. This should burn away whatever is causing the bleeding, plus it's tasty.
  17. Sabathia has established a reputation as a s***ty playoff pitcher lately. Pull a 10 ERA in the playoffs NY and they will have his head.
  18. QUOTE (Texsox @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 08:56 AM) (Posting from my Blackberry) There is a suspicious package on the bus seat next to me. What should I do? Jump up and yell out Allahu Akhbar loudly. After all, God is great, and you want to make sure he's aware you're in need of his protection.
  19. Link Not really a surprise to anyone.
  20. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 9, 2008 -> 03:02 PM) They won a playoff game in 1998. Which, by the way, happens to be more than the annual Greatest Team Ever, the Cowboys
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 9, 2008 -> 08:14 PM) With a new ballpark opening, and the disaster that has been their bullpen for the last couple years, they don't really have a choice. Overrated or not, there's no way he's not a top 10 closer in baseball right now, and getting that for 3/$37 isn't a horrible move if you've got money like a new york team. The fact that they're a NY team with unlimited funds is the only reason I think it's not a horrible signing.
  22. He's getting paid like a starter... honestly K-Rod isn't really that good. Most overrated pitcher in baseball, IMO.
  23. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 9, 2008 -> 08:05 PM) "Just because I have a career .317/.377/.481/.858 line against the White Sox doesn't mean you can throw out such blatently false accusations." I didn't even notice that. Emil Jones, cut me some slack, this is a baseball board after all
  24. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Dec 9, 2008 -> 07:07 PM) Oh man I hope Todd Stroger got caught trying to bribe his way into the Senate seat. No more Blago and Stroger? That'd be f***in sweet.
