QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 08:10 PM) People dont even know what the word liberal means. This is what me and mr. genius were getting at earlier in the thread.
-
QUOTE (mr_genius @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 08:09 PM) acutally, the term progressive is by far the most tired (and often least accurate) political cliche liberals have taken to calling themselves progressives b/c in the past decade the Republicans have made them afraid to call themselves liberals out loud. Libs have been trying to reclaim the word though.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 07:57 PM) It was pretty clear what you meant when you said "neocons and liberals", conveniently leaving one group out or at least breaking the conservative constituency into two parts. You should be proud of your ability to gload somebody into an interweb rage with your stuff. This is kind of related, but neocons have joined the mainstream media as the most tired political cliches. I mean really, liberalism has changed since 30 years ago but I never see the word neoliberalism compared to often I'm subjected to a new rant on neocons. Conservatives saw how disastrous the George Bush presidency has been and there's been this movement to distance themselves from it by blaming it on neocons. Traditional conservative ideologies have gone extinct for a reason, and the only way they've been able to gather votes is behind social issues or a Ronald Reagan type leader with incredible communication skills. Neoliberalism is actually conservatism/libertarianism. That's been lost in the translation though since "liberal" became a dirty word and was tied directly into socialism (which is still used synonymously with Communism, incorrectly).

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 06:24 PM) Oh just go f*** yourself No need to be so emotional and personal. Please back off this kind of language, or else I'll have to resort to warnings/suspensions.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 03:23 PM) Really? You want the DC from one of the worst teams all season? I understand that Williams has a nice history, but to see the Jaguars pack it in with a good portion of the season left is pretty telling on how much the coaching is getting through to the players. And this isnt to say I want to keep Babich, I want him gone yesterday The Jaguars weren't really s*** before Williams got there because they had absolutely ZERO pass rush, I hardly blame him for the condition of that team. Williams has been the architect of enough top 5 defenses in his career for me to be able to overlook this past season. -

In my fantasy land, the Jags let Gregg Williams go, Bob Babich is dumped, and Williams comes to the Bears. -

QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 02:11 PM) Alexei probably isn't going to win any gold gloves (especially if he plays SS) but he is FAR from a horrific defender. To label Alexei as a "horrific" defender is asinine. He wasn't horrific, but he definitely wasn't that good, either. He made some great athletic plays which drew attention, but he blew a lot of routine ones, too. He was inconsistent. -
I saw F/9-11 (while I was still in rabid anti-Bush, Republicans suck mode), and I believe it's foolish to expect it to be anything other than what it was, content-wise so I don't feel like it's the best example. I'd probably feel the same way if Ann Coulter ever made a movie.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 09:41 AM) At this point in his career, and with his velocity declining, I'd say he's a question mark. But then again, I've neverb been as high on Buehrle as everyone else is. I'm going to get one of my friends to photoshop a picture of the "radar gun police" for all these times when people on the board flip out about nothing.

QUOTE (YASNY @ Dec 6, 2008 -> 10:52 PM) Here's Keith Law's take on the trade. It kind of has an "everybody sucks" attitude to it. This dude said that none of Vazquez's offspeed pitches are plus pitches, WTF? Is he talking about the same Vazquez? I realize his bad ERA may lead an uninformed person to believe that, but come on. I guess I should expect that from ESPN.

QUOTE (SEALgep @ Dec 6, 2008 -> 10:43 PM) Let's see how that would look potentially: Furcal SS Rameriz CF Quentin RF Thome DH Konerko 1B AJ C Fields 3rd Dayan LF Getz 2nd Or if Getz could somehow emerge as a solid 2 hole hitter, that would create some flexibility as well. Uh, Jermaine Dye? Unless it's supposed to be implied you're talking about trading him -
Ok, I kind of broke the rules on the last one, lol. There once was a poster named Texsox

Sample conversation between me and my 2-year old son: Me (holding children's book): Where's A? Him (Points to A): Right there! Me: Where's B? Him (Points to C): Right there! Me: No, that's not B. But where's C? Him (Points to B ): Right there! Me: No, that's not how it goes. It goes like this (pointing in order) A, B, C. Him: Good job!

In reference to the situation I posted in here a couple pages ago, through my unethical spying practices, I've found out who has my game. She still doesn't know that I know. My wife asked her earlier about the Myspace message, and her daughter claimed she didn't respond to the boy. I didn't believe her, but she was telling the truth. She didn't respond to THAT boy. She offered it to her boyfriend, of course he accepted. I'm not as pissed as I thought I'd be, now that she's admitted it. Obviously, I'm still upset, but more disappointed. It's really unlike her.

QUOTE (Mr. Showtime @ Dec 6, 2008 -> 04:23 PM) Say, has anyone else heard that they are coming out with a re-make of Punch Out for the Wii? Looks to have most of the same characters, LITTLE MAC~!~!, Glass "f***ing" Joe, and Mr. Hippo, all in the game. I'm looking forward to this. Yeah, I heard about that a while back. Sounds like it'll be pretty bad ass. I can't wait for Mass Effect 2 btw, no idea when it's coming out, but hopefully within the next year. The negativity was a direct result of his s***ty performances, this should really be obvious. When he pitched well, which was probably more than half the time, there was no negativity. Duh.

If I'm ever suicidal, I will announce to this board that I'm doing a shot every time I see Balta type "the last 8 years"

It has that f***in ad thing right in the middle of it, how do you get rid of it? I love that it has college stats.

I'm not complaining about anything. I just wish I could wear shorts, a t-shirt, and shoes with holes in them to the job I have now. I don't have that choice but it would be pretty awesome.
-
lol. Yes, thanks, I would have gotten fired had you not told me that. Excellent insight

QUOTE (MAX @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 09:45 PM) Well, you are free to get whatever job you want here. I prefer ones that pay me as much as I make now or more

Meh I wear a suit to work everyday. It's overrated. I wish they'd let me wear t-shirts, shorts, and shoes with holes in them.
