  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 10, 2008 -> 01:41 PM) Um...you may no more about some changes than things I know about (I guess you're talking about Human intelligence focusing at the lower levels or something like that), but from the CIA Black sites to Gitmo to "Enhanced interrogation techniques" to turning the NSA against the country's own citizens to the debacle that has been the creation of the DHS (a bipartisan clusterf*** btw)...I'm not sure how much credit I'm willing to give them on anything in terms of intelligence overhaul. Those are things specific to his administration and his policies and that goes on his long list of failures along with the ways he politicized it leading up the war in Iraq. I'm mainly talking about the recommendations from the 9-11 commission and looking after the general long-term bureaucratic health of the whole thing, and what he's left for the Obama administration and beyond. It's MUCH better off than it was when he took office, it was such a clusterf*** then it wasn't even funny. A couple of those things you're blowing out of proportion though and it sounds like you're getting your information from the Huffington Post.
  2. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 10, 2008 -> 01:11 PM) It's easier to count the things they didn't screw up. I can count them on one hand I think. Many of the things he did right are cancelled out by something else. - Sweeping, long-overdue overhauls of the intel community - Did a whole lot for people with AIDS in Africa - Leadership post 9-11 - eventually unraveled this but I will spot him this anyway ...I think that's about it actually.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 10, 2008 -> 12:57 PM) Is Sarbanes former sen. Sarbanes kid? Yes
  4. It's not just the economy. That was just the straw that broke the camel's back, fair or not. He had laid the groundwork for being labeled a failure long before that. See his approval ratings before then.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 09:12 AM) Send requests to both of your sentators as well. I looked, and Senators Mukulski and Cardin both have forms for MD residents who want to attend. But, both of them said that their offices have already gotten way more requests for tix than they'll be allotted so if we do manage to get them it'll be luck. My guess is that other states are like that too. It'll be worth a try though. However, the Mall is open to the public and there will be big-screen TVs/speakers so everyone can see it. For anybody that wants to go, watch out because all of the travel/hospitality industries are jacking up their prices because they can. If you know someone that stays in the area, do that.
  6. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 10, 2008 -> 09:51 AM) What is that supposed to mean? I think he is getting at the absurdity of the comparison to criminals.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 10, 2008 -> 09:26 AM) Well, I know Orton wouldnt havent missed wide open receivers like Rex did yesterday, so I assume they would have been better. Its not hard to see that Kyle is on a whole different level than Rex. We were luckly enough to have Forte on the team to keep us in it. There is a strong paralell between the Bears and the Bulls this year. Both team's best players are rookies and look to be one of the only bright spots moving forward. Orton only recently stopped missing wide open receivers, it used to be flat-out f***ing embarrassing. I'm happier than anyone that one of the words we can use to describe Orton with is "accurate" now. But, really, Orton has a LONG way to go before people can start talking about him as if he were a Pro Bowl-type QB, people are going to be severely disappointed if they expect him to dominate non-s***ty teams the way he did the Lions/Falcons/Vikings etc.
  8. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 10:13 PM) But a lot of people here would like to see us become a Eurpoean style of government sans coalition governments. IF our government and its electorate ever goes that far to the left and stays, then that's what we'll be, but until then, we're not.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 10:08 PM) Yeah, what does it mean? Because I am color blind. It says: f*** THE COLOR BLIND
  10. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 08:53 PM) Babich seems to get eaten alive on 3rd down everytime. He has no creativity, the pressure never gets there, and veteran QBs tear them apart. The DBs arent absolved of all blame, but the front four doesnt get much pressure, and hasnt for about 4 consecutive games now. The secondary has to continuously stay on guys longer than they should have to because the D-line isn't getting there at all. I just think it's really unfair to call them out as the defense's weak link when we don't have Champ Bailey and Antonio Cromartie on the roster. And yeah, Babich has the same lack of creativity Rivera had.
  11. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 06:21 PM) Through 8 games, Orton has found a way. Let's see how he does when he isn't playing craptastic, bottom 5 quality pass defenses. I really want to know how an Orton-led offense would've done against the #1 defense in the NFL, and I doubt it would've looked something like 280 yds 3 TDs. I know it's nice to see a QB who doesn't totally suck playing for the Bears but let's be a little objective here. This is in no way, shape, or form an endorsement of Rex Grossman whatsoever.
  12. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 07:11 PM) From a Cowboys fan, Berrian was overrated trash. Bears fans should feel lucky they avoided resigning him. I only watched the 4th quarter of the Bears game, but a major problem to me looked like Grossman was told to throw more slants and short passes than not. He excels at throwing bombs. That's why Berrian has his big contract. Regardless, a bigger problem is the Bears secondary which was always overrated is complete trash this year. I think it's worse because Urlacher has sucked big. It's hard for the secondary not to suck when the D-line completely disappears except for Alex Brown.

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 8, 2008 -> 12:23 PM) lol, my brother's friend e-mailed this to him, and since he's color-blind he couldn't read it so had to ask what it meant
  14. QUOTE (Cubano @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 08:10 PM) This year he is unfired again. Is this supposed to say "on fire"? Just curious.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 04:55 PM) You continue to state that we are center-right. What are you basing that on exactly? Is it just your opinion? No, I explained it... QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 04:56 PM) My point is that you keep qualifying that we are center-right by comparing us to European countries. That just seems arbitrary to me in this discussion. ...and you dismissed my explanation. How else can I say it? By center-right I mean on the full political spectrum, that's where our government is, and its policies. A month or two ago I posted a thread about where people are on the political spectrum and it showed where all the presidential candidates were on the scale, roughly. Even the "super-liberal" Barack Obama was on the right along with almost all the Democrats, but still well to the left of the Republicans. That's what I'm talking about. The socialist European countries are to the left of that. It really isn't arbitrary, it's entirely relevant here.

  17. QUOTE (3E8 @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 12:27 PM) Yeah God forbid we actually try to expand or revolutionize scouting abroad. I really don't think it's coincidence that your statement is directly underneath lostfan's signature
  18. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 04:06 PM) See, the GOP isnt using it in that frame. They say it as in "In America, we have the left (Democrats) and the right (Republicans) and America is a little to the right of center." So, when they say America is right of center, they mean American's prefer the policies of the GOP over Democrats and the Gallup poll tends to show the opposite. Especially on the moral "hot button" issues. Yeah, that's a fallacy. This IS a center-right country, but it doesn't mean we are somehow predisposed to being Republican.
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 03:59 PM) Why do you have to make a comparison to socialist countries? If you compare us to North Korea we're extremely leftist. ??? North Korea is communist/authoritarian, that's something altogether different actually. Socialist countries are like Germany and France.
  20. Again, the center-right thing has nothing do with whether we prefer Democrats to Republicans, it's where we are as a country on the actual political scale. Compared to a full-blown socialist country the Democrats are still "right-wing." Which is why I laugh to myself whenever someone calls the Democrats socialists, that word has lost so much of its meaning.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 08:33 PM) It would have been nicer had we noticed Curtis Granderson in our own backyard, almost literally. I was on my friend's Myspace a couple years ago and I see a picture of him in his Tigers hat on her page so I ask her "umm, you don't like baseball what the f*** is Curtis Granderson doing on your friends list?" I forgot she went to TF North.
  22. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 8, 2008 -> 06:24 PM) Everyone isn't Alexei. As DA mentioned, 26 and 19 is a big difference. I'll be thrilled if the Sox sign this kid, but expecting him to start at 3rd base this year is a major reach at this point in time. True things, but I'm not saying I expect them to sign him and start at 3B in '09 immediately. I maintained my position on Alexei until the guy exploded and I couldn't deny it anymore.
  23. Great now we definitely can't trade any of these guards. Ugh. What a s***-tastic offseason for Pax - yeah, we got Rose and that's great, but Pax gets no credit for that as you could not possibly have f***ed up the gift-wrapped #1 pick.
  24. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 8, 2008 -> 06:44 PM) I thought it was the end of the year. Shoulda said beginning of the offseason
