  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 21, 2008 -> 01:02 PM) No. There's a theme now with that nut case from Minnesota and now this guy. And then there's Palin's comments about pro-American parts of the country. WTF is going on with these people?? It's getting scary. McCarthyism for 2008.
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 21, 2008 -> 12:58 PM) Huh? I guess my sarcasm wasn't thick enough.
  3. QUOTE (Texsox @ Oct 21, 2008 -> 12:56 PM) In principle. I don't believe I ever said I was against them. Basically I view all of these groups as merely conduits for information to get to the election officials. Much like the US Postal Service. If the USPS delivered voter registration forms for Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse no one would blame them for delivering the obviously false applications. So I fail to see why these gorups should be treated any differently. Where I do see a problem is they are creating an enormous work load for election officials sifting through garbage. But as I mentioned, it is far more dangerous to have them not send in everything. When you said "partisan drives" a few posts ago it made it sound as if you were referring to ACORN but reading it again it sounds like you were talking about something else.
  4. QUOTE (Texsox @ Oct 21, 2008 -> 12:50 PM) Works for me. I've always supported that grass roots type movement. This means that you support ACORN in principle then.
  5. House Democrats are the weak link in the current government IMO. I'm pretty sure I'm voting for whatever Republican is running for my district (I think the incumbent is a Dem).
  6. Yeah, I definitely laughed when I saw this.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 21, 2008 -> 11:17 AM) Good post yesterday on MediaBloodhound. Andrea Mitchell is a ninny. It's pretty obnoxious to me how some people try to draw an equivalency between a "negative ad" that is directly related to the issues and is actually true - say, running an ad about McCain sitting there saying he voted with Bush 90% of the time - and a "negative ad" that portrays your opponent as an America-hating socialist that supports terrorists.
  8. Still should be kept in the Dem thread.
  9. QUOTE (mreye @ Oct 21, 2008 -> 09:13 AM) I don't like these registration drives by third parties. You should only be able to register at a government entity - state building, county courthouse, DMV, etc. It opens it up to too many questions. I wouldn't have a problem with a third party like ACORN renting a bus and driving these people to a place to get registered. Who knows if actual election fraud is behind this or if it really was people that were too shy to talk to others. And will they know the true answer before the election and will the electorate be happy with the result of the investigation, regardless of the victor? See? Too many questions. In theory, the FBI doesn't give a s*** about partisan motivations. They care if somebody was doing something wrong. So, again, in theory, whatever they find during the investigation should give us a better picture I'm guessing they won't find anything, but of course that's all speculation on my part and I have zero inside knowledge. In reality, partisan hacks will find something else to complain about because they always do.
  10. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 04:33 PM) yet nothing from Palin. odd. She should be the most healthy of the 4. Obama and Palin are close to the same age, but Obama hasn't released a whole lot either except to say he's healthy... but frankly if there aren't any major health concerns I don't really see why they should have to. It's personal stuff. In McCain and Biden's case, one had melanoma and the other had a near-fatal aneurysm a couple decades ago so the voters should know if these guys are healthy enough to do the job, as long as they pass that test they should be good.
  11. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 05:42 PM) So much for Palin and her "neighbor" being friendly... http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationw...0,6044747.story The irony of this is that McCain's campaign is trying to allege that Obama has been getting illegal foreign contributions. Im sure it was a mistake, but still funny. Oops! lol, the Russians were pretty happy to rub that in his face weren't they?
  12. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Oct 19, 2008 -> 08:42 PM) Ok, so he's a bumbling charismatic dude. I didn't mean the way that came out, I really didn't. Ya'll tore me up for mocking NSS and I wasn't trying to. Sorry. Don't get me wrong, he still sucks.
  13. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Oct 19, 2008 -> 08:00 PM) Bush is charismatic? Please. I know a few people who've met him in person for one reason or another, and they tell me he really is. His real persona is not like what you'd expect from TV.
  14. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 19, 2008 -> 09:04 AM) I worry the GOP, the far right, and the McCain campaign will begin to tear Powell apart. They can criticize him all they want to, but he was smart when they were stupid. They'd just be making fools of themselves.
  15. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Oct 18, 2008 -> 05:26 PM) Any economic/fiscal conservative Republican whom is voting Obama really shouldn't consider them self an economic conservative. I'm guessing if he's a GOP voter he voted Bush for a second term, even with the crazy spending. Now he is voting for an even bigger spender, Obama. Makes no sense. Honestly, the people that seem to be in charge of the Obama campaign seem to be far from responsible adults, so I'm not sure what this guy is getting at. Even though I agree with him on the pandering to Evangelicals has kind of ruined the GOP for me as their issues are crazy sometimes. edit: Oh the Atlantic ok, that guy is most likely some Democrat merely bulls***ting the readers. I knew something didn't add up with his argument. This is the McCain=Dracula publication no offense lostfan I wasn't particularly concerned with the message and who was saying it (supposedly a Republican) so much as what is being said and what parts match up with what i personally believe. Mainly, that social conservatives annoy the hell out of me, and that the party doesn't resemble anything close to fiscal responsibility, so if that's your alternative then it's almost moot (that wasn't addressed in that post though).
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 18, 2008 -> 05:38 PM) So does anyone think Powell will endorse Obama on MTP tomorrow? And will it even matter? 1. Maybe 2. No
  17. This guy more or less sums up my feelings on why, despite some conservative leanings, I can't and won't fully support Republicans, and will continue to lean Democratic until I see some things change. http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_...ublican-in.html
  18. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 18, 2008 -> 03:18 PM) thankfully that ad never gained traction. it was disgusting. It really was. It made me cringe every time I saw it.
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 18, 2008 -> 02:51 PM) And to think there are people out there saying that both campaigns are equally negative. Right. Outside groups here =/= McCain campaign. It would be like attributing that "hey McCain is gonna die of cancer" ad to the Obama campaign. Not fair.
  20. Griffey was getting applause at games here in Baltimore just because he's Griffey. It's amazing how much goodwill the guy has built for his name.
  21. I don't really see a problem with the principle of this thread.
  22. I used to be all about the multiparty stuff but if you think about it, if we become hyperdemocratic with a bunch of parties that have narrowed platforms, our government would be an even bigger mess and it would be hard to accomplish anything.
