The GOP has completely abandoned civil liberties which I find odd because that's a conservative ideology. They mock the liberals for it now.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 04:45 PM) No kidding. For a campaign that is described as a well-oiled machine I find it hard to believe that this was accidentally leaked. oh f*** I just composed an e-mail and put the night's talking points in it for s***s and giggles but then I addressed it to some media people and accidentally hit send, omg omg omg
-
How the hell do you accidentally send out talking points? The only way you can do that is if you want to do it.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 02:43 PM) I have avoided most of the arguement because both campaigns have run the exact campaigns they have accused the others of running. This has been by far the dirtiest and most negative campaign I have ever seen by both candidates. There has been more innuendo, guilt by association, and cheap scare tactics used by both parties than I care to think of. I don't consider the linking Bush to McCain as a "guilt by association" thing personally. Maybe it's been excessive, but it's a sound political strategy. Frankly they would be dumb not to capitalize on the fact that the incumbent's policies are wildly unpopular and that the candidate supports most of those policies, except for a couple.

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 02:41 PM) I don't agree with that sign anymore than you do. What does that have to do with McCain or his campaign. Yeah there are wackos out there on both sides. I'm sure we can dig up some pictures from the left....should we associate those as coming directly from Obama or his campaign? People like this on the left, to be somewhat balanced http://i35.tinypic.com/ek2ikl.jpg (don't click that link if you're easily offended) All I did was post the picture to be taken at face value.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 02:39 PM) I thought we were supposed to make a distinction between supports and the candidates themselves? I can't tell you how many times I have been told that exact same ideal on this very board. Or do I get to start holding Barack Obama responsible for everything AHB saids? Hence why I said "kinds of people." This isn't my argument, I backed out a couple of pages ago out of disinterest.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 01:31 PM) This discussion is getting a little over the top, no? Still has a couple of steps before it gets there IMO.

These are the kind of people we're talking about here...

McCain himself hasn't really been too over-the-top with it, that's been mostly Palin's work (with the help of their MCs and whatnot). He may as well have selected Ann Coulter as his running mate.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 03:41 PM) No, but he's not going to "get us out of Iraq" quite as easy as he says he is. Better yet, when he "brings them home" ON HIS WATCH he can claim "victory". You watch. It's exactly what this guy's going to do. No such thing as victory or defeat/surrender... I'm sick to death of hearing politicians do this too.

I'm not really interested in this argument at all to be honest, it never goes anywhere productive

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 01:49 PM) "Nobody really thinks that Bush or McCain have a real answer for the challenges we face, so what they're going to try to do is make you scared of me. You know, he's not patriotic enough. He's got a funny name. You know, he doesn't look like all those other presidents on those dollar bills, you know. He's risky." Take out the "doesn't look like all those other presidents" and they've pretty much done everything else to a T.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 12:33 PM) There are a lot of crazies in this country. Those two examples are a good picture, because they are double-crazy. One, they actually believe some of the B.S. rumors out there about Obama. But two, they actually think a financial nanny state is a good thing. Scary. Double crazy is about right. The "Stupid Vote" in full effect.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 04:45 PM) Roy Williams- 1 more big head in that locker room. The guy isn't very good anyways. BTW- I'm happy about PacMan. I'm so tired of that a**hole. Roy Williams isn't very good? Are you nuts? -
Probably not. I suck.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 11:58 PM) Me and a few other kids were picked to do that in fourth grade. Me and my group all picked the hot stocks like lucent technologies. The other group picked their favorite stores. We got killed. Ain't that a b? I used to be an intern for Lucent before they folded.

I coulda swore your last name was McGowan... must have something to do with paying too much attention to the Bears.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 09:47 PM) Then how do you get the reactions from liberals like the ones linked in my previous post? He said "insightful." I know what he was trying to say but that's totally the wrong word. Which made me laugh.

If you could vote for JUST the President, no VP involved
lostfan replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in The Filibuster
Easy decision, since I made my mind mostly up before the conventions. The VP selection didn't do anything except change "probably not" to "oh hell no." -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 09:17 PM) Interesting - Palin has 2 votes, McCain has none, so far. Do people actually like Palin better than McCain? I admit, that would be a surprise to me. Yes, they do. Not a snowball's f***ing chance in hell that I'd EVER vote for her though, under any circumstances, for anything.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 09:07 PM) And you really don't think any of the rhetoric from the Obama campaign could be considered just as insightful? I just gotta stop and lol @ this sentence for a minute... carry on

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 03:41 PM) Palin, who refuses to give a press conference, accuses the MSM on Limbaugh of trying to "shut me up." This coming from the same woman who said the results of the abuse of power investigation weren't legit because they didn't interview her, completely ignoring the fact that she ignored the subpoena. The irony is that if the MSM HAD shut her up, that was the best thing they could've done for the McCain campaign.

QUOTE (rangercal @ Oct 13, 2008 -> 08:30 AM) I know. I thought rivera made better adjustments. Yesterday was just a frustrating game. Logic tells me that we were getting burned because our shutdown pro-bowl corners were out. But then, what about the Tampa game? The cover 2 scheme has 2 many obvious holes. It worked best in 2005 and part of 2006 when our secondary was quicker to the weak spots. Now, I don't know if we are quick enough to recover with Brown a step slower. Every defense has weak spots. It's about the personnel, not about the scheme. If, say, they're running a 3-4 and they have the same holes in the secondary, they're still gonna get burned, especially if they don't get to the QB. It's not about the Cover 2. It's about playing an ungodly amount of snaps without getting a sack, and having inconsistent pressure. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 13, 2008 -> 08:34 AM) Well to be honest, they dont run all that much cover-2. Cover 2 is a scheme, not an entire defensive philosophy. They prob run cover 2 MAYBE 20 percent of the time. Beat me to it. No team is in their base defense the whole time. Maybe a max of 1/3 of the time. For example when they're looking run, they're in a Cover 1. The Cover 2 is great when your front 4 is getting pressure and you don't have to blitz and bad when it's not, simple as that.
