  1. QUOTE (BuehrleTheAce @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 09:57 PM) 3 days rest, bad record and stats vs the Twinkies this year, and he simply goes out and pitches 8 shutout innings? Are you kidding me?!?!?! John Danks scoffs at your "concerns"
  2. Hell yes!!!!!!!!! Danks f***ing pwned those little b****es. f*** the Twins!
  3. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 12:44 PM) I watched the Barney Frank presser yesterday and I didn't get that sense at all. And believe me when I say that I look for an excuse to be mad at Barney Frank. I thought he was uncharacteristically diplomatic about the whole event and when the questions came out about whether Pelosi's speech sunk the deal, he so much as said that this idea was an insult to Republicans and said that he couldn't believe that people would change their view on something viewed with such importance based on a few words by Nancy Pelosi. He even basically offered to apologize to the supposed 12 GOP Congressmen who changed their vote based on this. His tone was sarcastic about the "apologizing" though.
  4. How often does the speaker of the house get replaced? Is it after every election/reshuffling, or is it whenever there is a new majority? (Assuming the actual speaker gets re-elected, which they almost always do)
  5. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 11:39 AM) ? that makes no sense. i understand she gave some hack of a speech, but voting against the bailout probably had little to do with that. even before her speech most of these same Republicans and Democrats were against the current bailout structure. Everyone knows why they voted against the bill, but for someone to say out loud that people voted against the bill because of Pelosi's garbage garbage speech (everyone by now should know nobody likes Pelosi) and planned on voting for it until that moment is laughable. Anyone that actually did that (and I know nobody did, it's just pathetically weak political cover is all) should be immediately removed from Congress. That's one of the pettiest things I've ever heard.
  6. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 11:42 AM) Or maybe because its a bad bill. Barney Frank shoving his grill in front of the camera talking about how this is the bad evil republicans fault. Yet this is the same tool who did everything in his power to block any oversight of Fannie Mae and Mac. Back in 05 when people started to wonder about the stability of the 2 companies, Frank argued how fiscally sound Mac and Mae are and how they provide a service. He fought any oversight on this, and to me is one of the big bad guys in this whole mess. Yet he has the gaul to throw blame. If it was a bad bill, he should've said people voted against it because it was a bad bill, instead of crying about something Pelosi said. That sounds completely ridiculous, and made me laugh when I heard it.
  7. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 12:15 PM) Hey, that seems like a popular line around here. Seriously, I guess that's why I'm still highly disappointed in this race. It's the same mudslinging garbage we all see every year, and this is just the beginning... It's never going to change, just give up on that idea entirely. The most realistic expectation is that one day we will only have candidates telling only true negatives about their opponent instead of making up false negatives. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 12:16 PM) Remember...they wouldn't do it if it wasn't so successful every single time. $$$
  8. QUOTE (YASNY @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 09:03 AM) And our team didn't? Whatever the object they choked on was slightly smaller than whatever the Sox choked on. So that just further illustrates the poitn that they should be b****ing about the fact that they never capitalized while we were choking (just like we're doing). If they want something to b**** about though, they have plenty of valid reasons to do so, starting with that.
  9. I'm still going with Longoria as ROY, because I still think he's the better player, but Alexei has crept much closer to Longoria recently.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 08:52 AM) This should be their #1 complaint. Losing two games to Kansas City at home, thus preventing them from eliminating the White Sox. Haha. Yeah. Or the fact that their team choked and gagged their way to September.
  11. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 07:08 PM) LMAO. RSO has the same stance so WTF are you b****ing about? It's funny to see Camp McCain try to spin it to mean that she didn't take the same stance McCain criticized Obama for.
  12. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 07:04 PM) The updated story today contains this bit: http://www.daytondailynews.com/n/content/o...islamicweb.html Muslims in the past have been known to do things to themselves and scream about islamophobia, so i will withhold judgement until they come to some sort of conclusion. If it was something done by someone other than a fellow muslim, I hope they catch them and punish accordingly. In the United States? I dunno. They are definitely hypocrites overseas, though.
  13. How does he say these things with a straight face?
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 03:50 PM) Your political compass Economic Left/Right: -6.12 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.87 You know what I never like about these sorts of things? I gather it was fairly important whether i chose to agree or strongly agree. How do you know that those 4 divisions are the appropriate ones, and that I wouldn't turn out totally different if you offered up a "neutral" option or instead offered 3 levels of agreement/disagreement. Mr. Genius was talking about this and I had that problem too. I had to sit and think hard about the basic principles on some of them because they're worded funny. One I recognized as a Karl Marx slogan "from each according to his ability" and I had to go with disagree. The question about whether inflation or unemployment was more important to manage, I couldn't remember how I thought I was supposed to pick.
  15. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 04:30 PM) so far nobody has come close to my -7.50 on the left/right scale. You're probably the single most liberal person I know.
  16. I hear now that McCain is blaming Obama for not rallying his party.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 04:07 PM) They'll make some changes, hit it for a vote again tomorrow or Wed, and it will get passed this week. I'd bet on it. And looking at the details of the bill, this is not what anyone could reasonably call socialism. The House Republicans have been screaming socialism on TV though. Although that is to be expected.
  18. Anybody got a couple extra grand laying around want to go half with me on a bank?
  19. I think the "phone it in" was meant to be a metaphor. Still funny though.
  20. The only stocks I own are oil stocks, so... yeah. I have high-risk mutual funds and those things have been getting sodomized for about a year now. But I'm leaving them alone, they won't stay like this.
  21. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 12:58 PM) why compare it to swisher than? say he can hit better than jeter Well... that'd be like saying Palin is the equivalent of Jeter which is silly. Which would make Biden... what, JFK or something? George Washington?
