  1. Have you guys seen the ads with the doctors talking about melanoma and then questioning whether it affects McCain's ability to lead? It really makes me cringe.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 12:37 PM) Anything but a first rounder and I'd make that move if I were the Bears. Do they have the cap space for his contract? Can the Rams move it without a gigantic cap hit? The Bears have a decent amount of cap space and they're done paying all of their big-contract players, but Cliff Stein wouldn't like to have them so close to the cap. They'd need some flexibility at least.
  3. QUOTE (shipps @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 12:10 PM) Yeah thats always bad Karma. f*** it, we already lost the MVP for the rest of the pennant race. Bad karma has already cashed in.
  4. Serious question: Is it wrong of me to openly wish for him to tear his ACL? Because I kind of feel like an asshole, but I'm just being honest here.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 12:02 PM) That's what I'm saying. If you take out the Sox series against him, especially in Minnesota, the guy's probably a .230 hitter! In 18 games and 77 PAs vs. the Sox this year he is hitting .384. Yeah... probably something to that. He is a piece of s***baseball player against almost everyone EXCEPT the Sox. Someone please hit this guy in the knee with a crowbar or something.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 11:25 AM) I will guarentee you that the exact samething has been done on the Obama side of things, it just hasn't leaked out. So, does the loser of the debate donate their webpages to the poor kids in Africa?
  7. McCain will undoubtedly talk about the surge tonight and hit Obama with it. It will be interesting to see how Obama responds. Obama, if hes smart, will hammer McCain with the "negotiating with our enemies" thing that McCain (and Hillary, and everyone else) has been chastizing him with for the past few months. I think the recent panel with the past 5 Secretaries of State was like a gift of a crate of artillery shells for him.
  8. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 10:49 AM) I think what they are saying is that they can not pass it on Democratic votes alone, and that the bailout wont have the intended immediate psychological effect as well if there isn't broad bipartisan support. If you have 190 to 200 out of roughly 230 Democratic votes on a bipartisan plan and cant get enough Republican votes to get the bill passed, I think its reasonable to assume that it is the House Republican caucus that is failing to get the bill passed. The Republicans are trying to push their own plan now to counter the Dems, because they think this plan is too socialist (well, f***ing duh, but there is a reason this is a last resort). My interpretation of their plan is that they're going to give tax breaks to corporations so they can buy off some of the debt or what have you, and less regulation. Which... actually sounds kind of awful to me right now. Spending tax dollars (since tax breaks like this are pretty much a nicer way of saying spending tax dollars) to have companies consolidate among themselves, and don't watch over the thing. Great!
  9. As a commentator, I actually really like Mike Huckabee.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 09:52 AM) http://www.politico.com/blogs/jonathanmart...ure_builds.html I would take McCain more at face value here if it wasn't an obvious strategic ploy for him to demand this from Obama (not that he is necessarily wrong to do that, this is a campaign after all). It would be like Obama coming out and saying "if McCain had agreed to my proposal to have a speech-a-thon, we wouldn't be having this problem."
  11. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 10:26 AM) /slobber, drool B B B B But is f***ing EEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLL SARAH PALIN!!!!!! BWWWWWWWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! /twists head slightly to the left Naw I don't think she's evil... all the suspicions I had about her being out of her league at the national level are gradually being confirmed one by one, and combined with the fact that everybody (meaning hardcore Republicans) is slobbing over her and trying to defend her and act like she's more than she really is, I don't like her. Oh and her general arrogance and mocking tone towards anybody that doesn't agree with her. It's not that she's "inexperienced," I don't even care about that. It's just that she's like a hotshot A ball pitcher called up to the majors before they're ready. Unless she does a complete about face, which I doubt, I just have a bad feeling about her. With Obama, you look at him, the dude graduated with a law degree from Harvard with honors (read: he is an elitist), and it shows. With Palin, she is clearly smart and educated, but she has a bachelor's degree from like 5 schools combined... it also shows.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 09:30 AM) So you'd be OK with McCain's camp trying to have everyone shutdown that spread all of the Palin lies? If they are lies, yes. And there have been some lies out there.
  13. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 09:35 AM) Sarah Palin: Henry Kissinger is "beyond naïve"... ok, She said Obama was, but it's Kissinger position too! f***, dude, it's even George Bush's position. Also Colin Powell, Madeline Albright, etc. etc... I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Condoleeza Rice came out and said that too.
  14. This wasn't even a question of ability, it's a question of pride and manhood. I'm trying to be rational, but I'm honestly pissed at this team right now. It's one thing to lose because you suck... it's another to have the ability, and then mentally fold. Nut up guys. You have precious little time to redeem yourselves.
  15. Of course I support the Sox. I always support the Sox. That doesn't mean I can't be f***ING PISSED when I watch them push their balls up into their assholes for the most important series of the year. Actually, they've been setting this up for a good 2 weeks or so, the Twins gave them an opportunity to have about a 5 game lead coming into this and gave their best effort towards their own choke, but we gagged along with them, because the offense decided to call it an early offseason. Having said that, the season isn't over, and it's still possible to win the division.
  16. QUOTE (idave03 @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 11:29 PM) i want to bear witness if and when the metrodome is torn down. i hate this empty feeling... I want to be the guy that pushes the button to commence the demolition.
  17. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 11:27 PM) At least America won't be treated to s***ty baseball in October. A deserved loss. If we somehow make it in I'll be happy but a part of me knows we don't deserve it AT ALL. The Twins have earned the right to be embarrassed by the Rays in the first round.
  18. QUOTE (CQMVP @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 11:25 PM) Yeah, I want a bunch of guys who have good seasons, but completely fall apart when it matters most in September... Not really. They're all old, and this is what happens to older players late in the season. Trade them while they still have some value. I'm not going to go bother to go through with this, I have more productive ways to use my time.
  19. Guys stop s***ting on Dye... the guy was amazing all year until this month.
  20. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 11:19 PM) LET'S GO PUNTO???!!! SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE ME A GUN. Spell it P-U-T-O
  21. QUOTE (G&T @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 11:17 PM) That's the worst thing about this. THE SOX WERE HANDED THIS DIVISION and they are going to give it away. fixed
  22. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 11:13 PM) I cannot remember the last time Dye got a hit. SERIOUSLY. Like... earlier this game
  23. Dye capitulated. Damn what a disappointment this month has been for him.
  24. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 11:07 PM) This is just setting up for Brian Anderson. Book it. Women will want him, men will want to be him, and dogs will be lining up to hump his leg. These things aren't already true?
