QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 01:38 PM) I think it's worth a shot. I'd change things a little based on matchups such as Dye 4th ,Thome 5th against lefties. Move Alexei up vs lefties and AJ down.I don't know about Wise against lefties either but I haven't looked at the splits. Hard to say Swish would be better. I'd also have Anderson higher in the lineup vs lefties probably 7th behind Alexei. He sucks vs. lefties really bad. Like in the low 100s. For his career he is well below the Mendoza line, but then again this whole season he's batting like 70 or 80 points higher than he ever has.

Official 2008-2009 NFL Thread

Am I the only one who thinks that those passes to Lloyd were more "Brandon Lloyd catches" than "Kyle Orton completions"? On one of those long completions, I recall Lloyd having to adjust and make an acrobatic catch. Had Orton properly hit him in stride, that was an easy TD pass. Also, Orton is getting a pass from some fans on his first pick because that pass to Forte in the end zone was knocked out of Forte's hands, but the fact is that ball was underthrown, and not put in a place where only Forte could reach it. So yes, that INT was on Kyle. He has no touch whatsoever on his deep passes. -
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 10:27 AM) If he were that concerned with winning, he wouldn't have drafted his son so high. That's an answer to a completely different question.

I'm no expert in this area, but it looks like a bunch of foreign investors pulled money out after they invaded Georgia. That to me is hilarious.

QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 09:36 AM) I don't understand what is to love out BA. He's an outstanding defensive centerfielder - probably in the top 5 or 10 in the league. But he strikes out in more than 25% of his at bats, and doesn't hit with enough power or average to compensate. He's had essentially a full season of at bats at this point and he's .222 / .277 / .382. And he's not young anymore. He's 26 and should be in his prime. I just don't see where BA goes up from here unless he is really just a "change of scenery" guy and can go somewhere like Washington or Cincinnati or San Diego and play in the Suck League. It has less to do with BA himself and more to do with the fact that Griffey, as much as everybody loves him, has contributed nothing offensively or defensively. Offensively, both BA and Wise have blown him away since he's been here.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 08:05 AM) Am I missing a joke here? I noticed a lot of crazy posts from Steve came right around that same time a couple days ago, at 1:30 am. I think he was drunk posting.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 09:21 AM) If we know anything about Kenny, he will trade anyone. If he feels like he can spend money smarter, or get a key player, he will trade Swish or PK in about a second. He said something to his son to the effect of "don't think that I won't trade your ass if a deal comes along just because I'm your dad"
-
There is no reason whatsoever for Anderson to not be playing CF and batting 9th in this series. None.

What do you NOT like about your candidate

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 08:18 AM) I'd be willing to bet for every person not voting for Obama because he is black, there is another voting for him because he is black. Among black people or white (or otherwise non-black) people? Among black people it's a moot point because they already vote Democrat almost all the time. They'll probably turn out in higher numbers, but it's not like their vote would be any different if it was anyone else running. Among other people, I really, really doubt it. -
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 06:14 PM) I just think it's dumb to be so entrenched over something so trivial as what computer you use. Is it going to be on your driver's license in 15 years whether you use a PC or a Mac? At least they aren't as bad as, say, PS3/Blu-Ray fanboys.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 04:39 PM) I feel bad for Peanut honestly. He'll take this loss harder than anyone. Good. It's one thing to throw a pick 6 or something because you suck. It's another thing to gift-wrap an automatic first down to the other team in OT that kills what would've been great field position, and factores heavily into your team losing that day. -
Not inexperience, that doesn't mean anything. More like a lack of knowledge.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 01:00 PM) I hope everyone that begged for Orton is happy. Seriously. He has zero talent. He has use in this league as somebody's backup, and that's it. -

'Anonymous' Hacker Group Gets Palin's Emails
lostfan replied to StrangeSox's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 09:37 PM) Just a question here: Has Barry said anything about the Palin email hacking yet? Has he condemned it, or anything? Not that I know of. I think he's pretty much ignoring her. I went to go look and I noticed on the conservative and liberal blogs out there, the reactions were pretty predictable from either end. It's hilarious, but sad. -
This thread is, once again, in grave danger of organizing another mass suicide.

Feels like everyone else lost interest in this game at the same time huh?

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 07:49 PM) If we score in the first, we lead 1-0. Who knows if Gavin gives up 3 runs if he has a lead. Maybe he gives up more. Who knows. I think that in the first inning a pitcher is still trying to think about giving up as few runs as possible and the score is completely irrelevant, especially if we are talking about a 1 run difference. You'd be on to something if we were talking about the 6th or 7th inning probably.
-
QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 07:46 PM) Do pitchers pitch differently with a lead than if it is tied? I fail to see your point. What's that got to do with anything?
-
QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 07:42 PM) But if Wise gets hit or stretches the inning, can't it have a domino effect on things? IF Wise (who is 0-2 tonight btw) gets a hit, MAYBE they eventually score a run that inning. Then it would be 3-1. Should AJ be in the 2 hole? No, probably not (as if we are loaded with options there, however). Is that the reason this team has gone now 7 innings with 2 hits and no runs? Absolutely not.
-
QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 07:38 PM) That wasn't a DP by AJ in the first? Does that explain how the other 17 outs have not led to any runs and there have only been 2 hits? Blaming a shutout on one player is a copout.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 07:35 PM) I was so optimistic after OC's leadoff single. Everyone on the bench seemed into the game and excited. One pitch later, and it just seemed we were finished. Leave DW in the f***ing 2nd spot! That's not why we haven't scored.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 07:30 PM) This team is so maddening. They just refuse to put any real seperation between themselves and the Twins.
