  1. Not exactly the same poster but it was this picture. http://www.flickr.com/photos/sdbrown/2485849816/
  2. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 28, 2008 -> 11:03 PM) It does. They should throw like a hammer somewhere on it or like something about "workers". I mean, really. Whose idea was that? Even the art style matches.
  3. Damn, fireworks. lol. Is it just me or does that "California" Obama sign with the red tint look like a Soviet propaganda poster?
  4. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 28, 2008 -> 07:08 PM) How does one become a delegate? Pledge allegiance to Communism.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 28, 2008 -> 04:25 PM) For 80% of the year that's right. But somehow, like magic...his numbers in Sept...better than you'd expect. Split G AB HR RBI BA OPS tOPS+ April/March 143 480 14 73 0.273 0.751 111 May 141 510 10 40 0.233 0.631 78 June 154 571 16 79 0.249 0.692 93 July 155 505 17 68 0.21 0.622 74 August 199 687 19 87 0.25 0.699 94 Sept/Oct 168 600 33 100 0.295 0.892 145 Whether that's because the quality of pitching goes down when the call ups happen or because he's good in a pennant race, it's a regular feature of Uribe that he has a good month of September. Uribe is also probably the streakiest player I've ever seen in my life.
  6. That's pretty classy on McCain's part.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 28, 2008 -> 03:43 PM) OC and all the Sox veterans are in the pennant race as we hit September. They are in the hunt. Guys like OC can be heroes in chicago the rest of their lives if they get the job done the rest of the way. Anybody who hates OC will like him a lot if not love him if he is a September/October hero and helps us win it all. Not really. I still don't like Uribe.
  8. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Aug 28, 2008 -> 01:37 PM) What a load of crap. I hate "God Bless America." It shouldn't be treated like our National Anthem I am TOTALLY with you on that. I hate hearing God Bless America substituted for the National Anthem... when I hear it, I stand so that people don't think I'm an asshole, but I won't put my hand over my heart, because we only have one National Anthem, Star-Spangled Banner. For that, I stand rigidly upright with my hand over my heart. So anyone who thinks I'm unpatriotic can kiss my ass.
  9. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 28, 2008 -> 12:12 PM) Have no health insurance? No Big Deal! McCain's Campaign the ER is a wonderful health care plan! Of course, the ER doesn't cover regular check-ups and preventative health care. But when you start having those sever headaches caused by undetected cancer, or you have the massive heart attack from high cholesterol.. no worries. Just go to the ER! Yeah... do that... and raise my healthcare costs even more so they can afford to pay for you!
  10. QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 10:35 PM) IF another Katrina-like storm hits, we will see a vastly different response. One thing I know from living in the US for 46 years, we rarely make the same mistake twice. (OK we reelected Clinton and Bush) but on stuff like this, we totally kick ass the second time. I think it would be advantage McCain. You probably haven't read up on all the CIA's covert actions... we don't tend to think about more than 5 years in the future. We love the short-term benefits but 10 years later when it backfires, we wonder why.
  11. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 10:31 PM) I know we shouldn't think about this politically, but if this thing hits New Orleans during the GOP convention and the levees fail again, I think McCain is dead. It would be a living reminder of the gaffe that was Katrina, and I'm not sure they are ready to do any better down there if it happens again. Take a guess who gets the blame if this is a disaster again? For the sake of the people down there, I REALLY hope this misses New Orleans. Although really, if a storm that strong hits anywhere, it's a big problem. Actually you are probably correct. I was just talking about this today at work. It's one of those things that people don't want to say out loud, but we all know it's true. It's the equivalent of saying that if a terrorist attack were to happen, it would torpedo Obama's campaign.
  12. QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 10:02 PM) This spielburg video is helping with that too... The sight of coffins with American flags over them still bothers me even after 4 years. I mean, it bothers everybody, but I think it bothers me more. It feels like a punch in the stomach whenever I see one of those pictures
  13. QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 08:42 PM) I think this Kerry speech is really good as well... It started off pretty dull with the McCain attacks but it got better. I liked his line towards the end. "My country wrong or right... when right, keep it right, when wrong, make it right."
  14. Bill just played down the "experience" card saying they tried to say that about him when he was running for president. Slick.
  15. If it does start going towards New Orleans again, I could see Bush on TV now. "Seriously, get the f*** out of that city now, I'm not f***ing around! As a matter of fact, if you can see this broadcast, we have a problem!"
  16. QUOTE (RME JICO @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 06:07 PM) You forgot the one about Ozzie leaving a pitcher in 1-2 batters too long to put the game out of reach or where he takes a perfectly good pitcher out only to have the new pitcher get smashed. Haha... my god I HATE that s***. Earlier in the season when they were here in Baltimore I got up to take a leak after Thornton comes in, I sit back down to see Thornton leaving and Dotel coming in. Thornton only threw 3 pitches... a 3 pitch strikeout.
  17. QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 02:44 PM) Careful buddy .... Them's fight words. Oh, you hippie liberal Cubs fan /runs away as fast as humanly possible
  18. Haha. I'm married and I behave myself.
  19. QUOTE (almagest @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 02:40 PM) No, they're just really bad. Also, we have a better home record than the Twins IIRC, so if anyone should be lauded for being nigh unbeatable at home, it's us. Actually this year they aren't THAT bad... it's a combination of being in that brutal division and having injuries on their pitching staff.
  20. Generally speaking people in this forum don't unnecessarily inject race into arguments when talking about Obama, except to counter accusations of race-baiting.
  21. Well there's really not a whole lot of similarities between Lincoln and Reagan either, both were Republicans, but the party had changed so much during that century-plus time that it's really not even relevant anymore.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 12:56 PM) No I was going to post what AHB posted, besides fox who "accidentally" broadcasted it, there is legal questions on that commercial, one is the use of footage and another I believe is something about its donors. I think it's going to the FEC. Stupid ad though. I don't think we can compare 60s terrorism of radical youth groups during the Vietnam war to todays radical Islamic terror. I mean, Obama ran against Bobby Rush in 2000, does that mean he's against the radical groups like the black panthers? Not really, it just doesn't matter. Ayers is now a key person in effective ways of reaching inner city schools. He's helping America. He's said those comments were distorted. That committee was to again, help kids in inner city schools. How terrorist, how rogue, how stupid. $$$$ Maybe it's just cuz of what my occupation is, but I HATE when people misuse and abuse the concept of "terrorism" and try to lump it all together for shallow political purposes.
  23. QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 12:38 PM) Well maybe I picked up on the body language thing. But actually listening to what she said. I still say her 'support' was tepid at best. I don't think you're necessarily wrong but I think she did exactly what was necessary for Obama in terms of getting some of those votes back.
  24. Obama treats the Muslim claim like it's acid because it's thrown at him with the intention of being acid.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 01:18 PM) Not even close. The Repubs pulled McCains support and propped up another candidate against him. They sure as heck haven't had anywhere NEAR the public bile for McCain that Joe has gotten from the Dems. Maybe my example was poor, maybe it wasn't, but my point remains that if a Republican senator had done and said the equivalent of what Liebermann has, their reaction would be the same. Understandably and predictably so.
