  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 11:25 AM) Massett and Richar. Reds pay for KG contract. Kevin Garnett can play CF?
  2. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 11:23 AM) Do we have definite details on the trade yet? Griffey for.....? Masset and Richar, Reds pay Griffey's salary
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 10:47 AM) Mentally fragile Konerko has had some of the biggest ABs in White Sox history. yawn.
  4. I wonder does this mean Wise will be DFA'd? (Wouldn't make any sense to pull the plug on Anderson, being right-handed and all and he can still run)
  5. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:22 AM) Who needs a DH right now? Can this be part of a 3 team deal where we just flip Griff to somewhere else? Seattle? /shrug
  6. Drunks cause accidents, stoners just miss their exits.
  7. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 08:46 AM) Haven't read anything on here yet. But I hate this move. They are gonn agive up some solid prospects for a guy who isn't better than what we have already. Great name, but this is 2008. Griffey is terrible now. He isn't terrible, he just isn't good.
  8. Anyone else annoyed that Griffey is the only reported name and we're left here in suspense?
  9. Us wanting Griffey to play in LF or RF is analogous to the Reds wanting Paul Konerko to play 1B.
  10. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 07:25 AM) Which the numbers don't support one bit. It's basically just people making excuses for Swisher. Gotta be honest, I'm pretty f***ing confused right now. You'd think the last thing we'd need is a washed up corner OF. Considering both our corner OFs are having MVP-type years... and Anderson and Wise provide the supplemental tools you'd want from the 4th and 5th OFs. I don't understand this trade at all, I'm really, really curious as to what the Sox offered. I could understand if Griffey could still play CF, or if this was 2002.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 07:21 AM) I guess he still has a .355 OBP. Any thoughts on if he or Swish is the better CF right now? I'll be honest, I haven't seen enough of Jr in years to say who is better. Griffey is a decent corner OF, still gets good reads and has a cannon arm, but he's slow as all hell now. There's a reason he's not playing CF anymore though. He used to be an all-time great out there, but that was 5 years ago.
  12. QUOTE (Cubano @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 06:50 AM) Are you canadian? They defected in Canada. By the way, there is a USA law called Cuban Adjustment Law. If you oppose this law, then you should call your US Congress representative. QUOTE (Cubano @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 06:54 AM) You are right. However, the number of cubans taking american jobs in MLB is insignificant compared to other countries. In addition, other countries need MLB academies to form their own players taking more investments and jobs away from the USA. You can blame MLB for that. MLB can put the same academies in Washington D.C., NY, etc and form american players. Cuba has been able to form its own players before and after 1959. I'm pretty sure they were both joking.
  13. Uhh... for real? I mean, I love Griffey and everything but his sun is setting, I hope we didn't give too much up.
  14. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 12:29 AM) I'm not trying to be Captain Wise-A** here, but when I think of hard, I think 95+. If Massett throws a moving 92-93 mph fastball right down the shoot, it has a good chance of going 400 feet, while a 95+ mph fastball right down the shoot is tougher. And yes, 2-3+ mph does make a difference. It's actually the opposite especially in the majors unless you're talking 99-101 mph. It's a good pitch to set up for a strikeout or something, but a straight fastball down the middle is probably the easiest pitch to hit in baseball even if it's 95+, especially when you can see it coming. Well-placed fastballs with movement are what get guys out. In either case, you don't want to be throwing either one of them right over the plate because both of them will end up in some kid's glove 400 feet away.
  15. I WANT MORE CUBAN BASEBALL PLAYERS GIVE THEM TO ME, NOW
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 09:42 PM) Is the quote in your sig from "Stripes"? I can't recall but it seems so familiar. Billy Madison.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 09:41 PM) Didn't Moose have a TD in the Super Bowl? Given the fact that they always get a truckload of $$$ by default, they come to the city and they're expected to be major impact players but they almost never live up to that. Fun fact: No Pro Bowler who has ever signed with the Redskins has ever made a Pro Bowl after signing during the Dan Snyder era.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 09:38 PM) There was an article about it a month or so ago. It was even less than that. It kind of reminds me of big-name FA signings in the NFL, although that's to a lesser extent.
  19. http://www.rrstar.com/news/x544095839/Cubs...t-child-s-party http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=224598&src=109 Cubs fans are awesome... it's the Sox fans that are the unruly lowlife scum.
  20. QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 08:10 PM) Close, it was the 2002 BiPartisan Campaign Reform Act. I always forget which is which.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 06:33 PM) Cal Ripken had a pretty deadpan demeanor. So did Harold Baines. Ramirez isn't affected by Konerko at all, in fact, if anything, Alexei needs to cut down on the flash a little bit IMO. Agree... he's making some unnecessary/dumb rookie mistakes out there. I hope he'll learn when it's inappropriate.
  22. McCain-Feingold finance reform bill I believe, they did that so that candidates had to take ownership of their ads and everything they say and couldn't run attack ads by proxy and whatever else.
